Mo Zixuan wore a grim expression, the depths of his eyes darkened, fixedly staring at her. His expression bore the look of one whose heart had been shattered by a single sentence.
Wen Ran was slightly taken aback as she looked at him.
The tone he had used earlier had frightened her, his voice full of tornt, a mute accusation against her indifference.
Mo Zixuan firmly pressed his lips together, suppressing the tumult of feelings inside him, his voice quiet and even: “Ranran, what I want, you cannot give.”
“Let’s go, I’ll take you ho.”
After Mo Zixuan said this, he stepped forward to leave.
The two of them left Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion together. Wen Ran turned her head slightly and said indifferently: “Qing Feng and Qing Yang are waiting for . You don’t need to escort .”
Mo Zixuan followed her gaze to the side of the road where Qing Feng had already alighted from the car and was striding toward them. A bitter smile teased the corners of his mouth. He nodded at her: “Okay.”
Once inside the car, Qing Feng imdiately asked concerningly: “Miss Wen, what did Mo Zixuan want with you?”
Wen Ran shot him a disinterested smile, her reply light as a feather: “Nothing, let’s go, let’s go back ho.”

In a high-end apartnt
As Gu Kai entered the living room, he saw Mo Xiuchen staring blankly, seated on the sofa, with a unlit cigarette sandwiched between the index and middle fingers of his right hand.
Under the bright crystal chandelier, his handso features were highlighted, every inch of his skin seed to radiate cold indifference. His deep eyes, unfocused, were caught in so distant thoughts, his mind wandering to so unknown place.
“Xiuchen, what’s on your mind?”
Gu Kai, managing to regain his composure, forced a smile as he moved to sit next to him.
Mo Xiuchen’s reverie was broken by Gu Kai. His eyelashes fluttered twice before he slowly turned his head to look at Gu Kai. The characteristic chiseled features of his face appeared sowhat pale, perhaps due to the lighting.
If one looked closely, they could detect the weariness hiding beneath the calm facade of his brows.
“Ah Kai, you should head back tomorrow.”
The sudden declaration by Mo Xiuchen led Gu Kai to raise an eyebrow: “What’s wrong?” Leaning back into the couch, with one hand resting on the top, he stared inquisitively at Mo Xiuchen, “Are you still worried about Ranran?”
Gu Kai understood Mo Xiuchen’s concerns.
The one thing he was most worried about was Wen Ran. The night before, he had woken up thirsty in the middle of the night. On switching on the light, he found Mo Xiuchen sitting on the couch, tightly gripping his phone in his hand.
When the light ca on, Mo Xiuchen covered his eyes, which stung from the sudden brightness, and asked in a hoarse voice, “Ah Kai, why are you up?”
Gu Kai walked over, snatched the phone from Mo Xiuchen and effortlessly unlocked it, intending to dial Wen Ran’s number: “If you can’t let go, then call her.”
“Ah Kai!”
Upon hearing this, Mo Xiuchen’s face changed. He abruptly stood up and wrestled the phone back from Gu Kai just before the call was placed.
Finally, Gu Kai called Wen Jin instead…
“Ah Kai, Mo Zixuan sent flowers to Ranran this morning. This evening, Ranran went to et him at Yi Pin Xuan.”
Mo Xiuchen lowered his gaze, his deep tone revealing no hint of his emotions.
Surprise flickered in Gu Kai’s eyes, his elegantly arched eyebrows raising, “Xiuchen, you’re not worried that Ranran was touched by Mo Zixuan, are you?”
There was a mocking tone in his words. A smirk of disdain appeared on Mo Xiuchen’s lips: “I’m worried that he’ll hurt Ranran. I heard that he’s been visiting Xiao Wenqing every day lately.”
Gu Kai burst into laughter, “Xiuchen, even though you’re in City C, you seem to know what’s happening in G City so clearly? Mo Zixuan is visiting Xiao Wenqing in hopes of getting sothing out of her to use to touch Ranran. Are you afraid his information is not accurate?”
Mo Xiuchen lips were sealed, deep in thought.
Gu Kai, pulling a face, took out his phone. He sighed gently, dragging his voice out: “I’ll call Ranran and ask what Mo Zixuan has been telling her.”
“Hmm.”
A monosyllabic grunt ca from Mo Xiuchen, who was intently staring at Gu Kai’s phone.
“Xiuchen, aren’t you calling Ranran today?”
Gu Kai dialed Wen Ran’s number, inquiring casually.
“No need!”
Mo Xiuchen’s eyes were glued to Gu Kai’s phone screen, fixed upon the word ‘Ranran’, as if he could pierce through the phone and see Wen Ran, who was far off in G City.
He had said it last night; he wouldn’t be calling her today. It wasn’t just empty words; he really wouldn’t call.
The phone had rung for a while. As Mo Xiuchen’s gaze steadily lost its calmness, Wen Ran’s voice flowed from the phone, warm like a spring breeze, uplifting any listener’s mood: “Brother!”
A smile broke out on Gu Kai’s face, signaling to Mo Xiuchen that there was no need to worry. His voice laced with delight, he asked: “Ranran, haven’t you gone to bed yet? Why did it take you so long to answer my call?”
“I was showering just now. Brother, I was planning to call you in a bit. I didn’t expect you’d call first.”
With the phone on speaker, Mo Xiuchen listened to the voice of the woman he loved. A hint of warmth flickered in his deep, pool-like eyes, and his facial features softened.
Gu Kai responded with an ‘Oh’, then curiously asked, “I heard that you received flowers this morning and even went for a dinner tonight. And still, you thought of calling . Did Mo Zixuan say or do anything touching to you?”
Gu Kai teased even his own sister. Mo Xiuchen shot him a cold glance.
“Brother, how did you know? I thought you had been in the operating room all day,” Wen Ran asked.
Lately, Wen Ran had not been in touch with Gu Kai and was not aware that he had gone to City C with Mo Xiuchen. She had been assuming Gu Kai was at the hospital.
Gu Kai burst into laughter, “Of course, I know. Ranran, spill it. What did Mo Zixuan tell you? Is he trying to sway you while Xiuchen is not around?”
“Do I co across as soone who is so easily swayed?”
Wen Ran retorted. Then she asked, “Brother, where are you right now?”
Gu Kai was taken aback. He looked at Mo Xiuchen expectantly.
Mo Xiuchen, however, ignored him. He shrugged and said, “I’m outside.”
There was a mont of silence on the other end of the line. After a few seconds, Wen Ran’s soft voice floated over, “Brother, Mo Zixuan told today, he knows where Fu Jingyi is. That’s why I went to see him tonight.”
Gu Kai straightened his posture, not looking at the man beside him whose aura was slightly turning cold. He said nonchalantly: “He must have found out from Xiao Wenqing.”
“Yes, he said that he has been visiting Xiao Wenqing for the past few days and finally managed to get her on his side. Xiao Wenqing told him, Fu Jingyi has several hideouts, and soone is backing him, most likely the person Xiuchen suspected, Liao Dongxing.”
Mo Xiuchen’s gaze shifted slightly when his na was ntioned.
Gu Kai said unimpressed: “He spent several days to only gather that useless information?”
“There was more. Xiao Wenqing said that Fu Jingyi was currently researching so kind of germ to use against my father. They plan to release the germ inside the hospital…”
