“Ranran, maybe, Mo Xiuchen was afraid you’d find out he and Ah Mu had two layovers on their way back ho. That might be why he chose to call you during a layover,” Gu Kai looked at Wen Ran with a genial smile, soup spoon still in hand.
Wen Ran responded with a smile, but there was a hint of sorrow, “Brother, you’re mistaken. He called because he knew I’d try to make it back before they returned ho. He even knew which flight I was on and the exact mont I landed.”
“Did he call the airline to confirm?”
While Gu Kai spoke, he picked up a chicken wing and placed it on the plate in front of her.
“It’s possible. Or he may have been uncertain, and was guessing just like I am. He didn’t ask why my phone was off for almost 20 hours, after all.”
This was a very important point.
Gu Kai paused, then looked at her with admiration, “Ranran, whether Mo Xiuchen knew you went to D country or not, I really believe you when you said you understand him better than any of us.”
Her analysis was clear and detailed. She was observant of every single detail.
Watching his sister, Gu Kai was filled with emotion.
Even though Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran haven’t been married or in love for long, they had already weathered so many storms together. There was nothing they haven’t experienced.
He sincerely hoped that Mo Xiuchen could bring Ranran with him to D country this ti, instead of them longing for each other across the Pacific Ocean.
That night, Wen Ran did not return ho with Mo Xiuchen. She went back to the Gu Family house with Gu Kai.
Her room was decorated like the one in her old house, so it didn’t feel unfamiliar at all.
The next day, she didn’t wake up until nearly noon. Gu Kai ca ho to have lunch with her. After lunch, he dropped her off at her company. In the afternoon, Wen Jin picked her up and took her ho.
When Qing Feng and Qing Yang saw her return, they were surprised and overjoyed.
Even the normally simple-minded Little Liu was delighted, “Young Mistress, your return is tily. The Young Master will be back soon from overseas.”

When she received a call from Jiang Liu again, Wen Ran was taken aback.
So many things had happened lately, and with Mo Xiuchen returning today, he was all she could think about. When her cell phone rang, she thought it was Mo Xiuchen and imdiately pulled it out to check.
Seeing a string of digits, her face imdiately took on a confused look. Having asked Gu Kai to look into Jiang Liu earlier, she recognized the number.
She stared at the number for a few seconds before finally rembering, and answered, “Hello!”
“Miss Wen, hello, I’m Jiang Liu, Yueting’s boyfriend. I need a favour.”
The voice that seeped into her ears was calm and gentle, reminding her of soone. She blinked, replying calmly, “What help do you need?”
“Yueting misunderstood sothing about , and she has been ignoring lately. As I can’t find her, I was hoping you could help get in touch with her.”
From his voice, it was clear that Jiang Liu was anxious about Shen Yuting. The tone of his speech was no longer warm and gentle but carried a hint of lancholy and sadness.
“Misunderstanding? Would you feel comfortable telling what misunderstanding occurred between the two of you? That way, when I get in touch with Sister Ting, I can try convincing her.”
Instead of outright accepting Jiang Liu’s request, Wen Ran decided to ask a question first.
She knew that Jiang Liu and Cheng Jia had certain issues in the past. Regardless of whether or not they had feelings for each other, there’s still so connection there.
Wen Ran’s intuition told her that the reason Shen Yuting was ignoring Jiang Liu had sothing to do with Cheng Jia.
“Miss Wen, to tell you the truth, Yueting is angry with because she thinks I still have feelings for Cheng Jia.”
Jiang Liu didn’t explain that he had actually known Cheng Jia before he’d t Shen Yuting. Deep down, he believed what Cheng Jia had said to be true, and with his current relationship with Shen Yuting, he didn’t think Gu Kai wouldn’t have investigated him.
Besides, he’d warned Wen Ran over the phone before.
After a brief silence, Wen Ran finally agreed, “I’ll try calling Sister Ting later and see what I can do. I’ll let you know.”
“Thank you, Miss Wen.”
Jiang Liu thanked her enthusiastically after hearing her agree.
“Don’t rush to thank yet. I just got back from a business trip and haven’t contacted Sister Ting. Wait for my call.”
Wen Ran sighed and ended the call.
Wen Ran did not try to call Shen Yuting imdiately. Instead, she dialed Gu Kai’s number first, intending to ask him about it and see if he knew anything.
The phone rang for a while before Gu Kai finally answered. His voice floated over, “Ranran, what’s up? Is Mo Xiuchen back?”
Gu Kai’s questioning could be attributed to the fact that none of them knew exactly when Mo Xiuchen and Qin Mu would arrive in G City.
“It’s not about Mo Xiuchen’s return, Brother. I was wondering if Sister Ting has been working these days?”
“Oh, you an Yueting. She’s on a business trip. Soon after you left for D Country, she left as well. Why, do you need to talk to her?”
Wen Ran paused for a mont at this. No wonder Jiang Liu couldn’t find Shen Yuting.
“Do you know where Sister Ting is on her business trip?”
Wen Ran continued asking, and Gu Kai can only tell her, “She went to attend an academic conference. Just before you called, she contacted to say she’ll be back this afternoon. She’ll be in G City by three thirty.”
“Oh, so she is about to board her flight.”
Wen Ran seed to be talking to herself; her voice was small. Nevertheless, Gu Kai heard her and laughed, “Yes, that’s right. She called from the airport. Ranran, you miss Yueting. Why don’t we go and pick her up from the airport? Mo Xiuchen and Ah Mu are also coming back today after all.”
“I do miss her, but I’m actually doing soone a favour. Since Sister Ting’s return flight is in the afternoon, I might just pick her up from the airport.”
Gu Kai asked, surprised, “What do you an by ‘doing soone a favour’? I don’t understand.”
Wen Ran smirked, figuring that Gu Kai wasn’t aware of the problems between Shen Yuting and Jiang Liu. Since Shen Yuting hadn’t told him about it, she decided not to divulge more and said mysteriously, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand. You can ask Sister Ting when we get to the airport.”
“Pft, if you’re not going to say it then forget it. You even think I’d be interested.”
Gu Kai’s reaction was prideful, hearing Wen Ran’s unwillingness to expound, he didn’t push further, instead acting as if he wasn’t even interested.
Half an hour later, Wen Ran’s phone rang once more. It was Gu Kai’s voice on the line, “Ranran, I’m at your factory gate. Co out now and let’s go to the airport and pick up Yueting, as well as Mo Xiuchen and Ah Mu.”
“Okay, I’ll be down imdiately.”
Wen Ran put away her makeup box and rose from her office desk, heading for the door.
