Chapter 677: 676 is only responsible for watching the joke
Mo Xiuchen raised his handso eyebrows and looked at her curiously, “Ranran, you said you didn’t pity Cheng Jia. Why are you so concerned about her?”
Wen Ran hesitated. In the depths of Mo Xiuchen’s searching gaze, she sighed and said, “I was just wondering if those thugs bullied Cheng Jia just because she was unlucky, or if it was an intentional warning because she offended sobody.”
“Oh? Who did she offend?”
This piqued Mo Xiuchen’s curiosity even more.
During his absence, had sothing else happened that made Ranran care so much about Cheng Jia? Mo Xiuchen thoughtfully watched Wen Ran, his gaze fixed on her clear, beautiful face.
Luo Haofeng was also interested by the topic and, grinning with intrigue, asked, “Wen Ran, do you know who Cheng Jia offended? You’re not suggesting that it was you, are you?”
As he spoke, he glanced sidelong at Mo Xiuchen, a teasing edge to his voice.
Wen Ran rolled her eyes, her voice apathetic and slightly disinterested, “Am I really a so vindictive? Would I really hire soone to wreck Cheng Jia, even if she offended ? Luo Haofeng, aren’t you usually well-inford? How co you don’t know?”
Seeing her suddenly sharp gaze, Luo Haofeng laughed dismissively, “Why would I need to know? As long as it’s Cheng Jia suffering, I’m happy. I’m just here to share the joke with you guys and then we can laugh about it together.”
“You’ve already shared your joke with us, Ah Feng, you can leave now.”
Unable to believe his ears. Luo Haofeng widened his eyes at Mo Xiuchen. He hadn’t even stepped through their door, nor had a single sip of water, and already Mo Xiuchen was showing him the door.
Unable to hold back a smile, Wen Ran listened to Luo Haofeng’s complaints, “Mo Xiuchen, that’s not fair! I heard you returned and rushed straight here only for you to not let into your house and send off directly. Do you even consider as a brother?”
“Ranran and I have finished our dinner. There’s no more food left for you, so you might as well leave now or go find sowhere to eat.”
Seemingly dismissive of everything he said, Mo Xiuchen didn’t spare a thought for Luo Haofeng’s woes.
Luo Haofeng ground his teeth with indignation. “Fine, I won’t disturb your private ti. Mo Xiuchen, I’ll accompany you to A City tomorrow.”
He turned on his heel, climbed into his car, and sped off.
“Xiuchen, he may get angry if you always try to get rid of him like this.”
Watching the trailing car disappear from her sight, Wen Ran turned to Mo Xiuchen to voice her concern.
His lips held a faint teasing smile as he glanced at her, his eyebrows decorated with a soft, calm deanor. eting her gaze, his eyes rippled with amusent. “Don’t worry, Ranran. Let’s head ho.”
Wen Ran took a shower while Mo Xiuchen took his dicine.
She ca out of the shower, and he sat beside her and they talked for a while longer before Wen Ran urged him to sleep.
Mo Xiuchen’s energy was not what it used to be. After suffering through long flights over the past two days, even with breaks in between, he still felt exhausted. Without further objections, he snuggled against her and fell into a deep slumber.
When a phone rings on the bedside table, she was quietly observing the sleeping Mo Xiuchen. His handso face under the lamplight bore a faint halo, looking refined yet gentle that she can’t take her eyes off him.
The caller was from Mo Xiuchen’s phone.
Wen Ran was sitting on the side of the bed, separated from Mo Xiuchen. It wasn’t a lengthy distance. She leaned over him, reaching out to pick up his phone.
Upon seeing the caller ID, Wen Ran’s eyes narrowed, her brows furrowing slightly.
“Hello, Chairman Mo.”
The call was from Mo Jingteng. Wen Ran didn’t know why he was calling Mo Xiuchen, but she knew Mo Xiuchen didn’t like being disturbed by Mo Jingteng.
“Why is it you? Where’s Xiuchen? Let him answer the phone.”
The disgruntled tone of Mo Jingteng’s voice ca through the speaker. His irritation caused Wen Ran’s face to harden. Did he think she was intentionally keeping Mo Xiuchen from answering the call? His tone was unpleasant.
“Mo Xiuchen’s asleep. Chairman Mo, if you have sothing to say, you can tell , and I’ll pass the ssage onto Xiuchen.”
She had a hunch that Mo Jingteng was calling about MS Group. Ever since Mo Xiuchen left the company, its operations had run into issues. Haochen had poached a lot of MS Group’s clients and other companies were looking to capitalise on the situation too.
When one man stumbles, others jump on him.
Mo Zixuan was already struggling. If this kept up, MS Group would be completely wiped out in G City.
“Let Xiuchen take the phone, I have sothing important to tell him.”
Mo Jingteng’s voice beca even stricter, apparently deeply dissatisfied with Wen Ran answering the phone.
However, Wen Ran didn’t surrender, her tone was decisive: “I already said that Xiuchen is resting. He just got off a ten plus hour flight. If Chairman Mo has sothing that can’t be spoken about over the phone, please wait until tomorrow to call.”
Before she could hang up, Mo Jingteng had already angrily ended the call on his end.
Wen Ran looked at the call log displayed on the screen and made a face, she then put the phone back on the table.
She had assud that Mo Jingteng would wait until tomorrow to call, but to her surprise, about ten minutes later, his call ca in on her phone instead.
Wen Ran blinked in surprise at the continuously flashing screen. She hesitated for a few seconds before lazily pressing the answer key, her voice was lazy too: “Hello!”
This ti, she didn’t even use the formal address of ‘Chairman’, simply because he had repeatedly disrupted her and Mo Xiuchen’s ti together.
Even though Mo Xiuchen was asleep and couldn’t speak or do anything, she felt happy and secure just having him by her side. She enjoyed watching him like this; quietly watching him, there would be no need to endure the pain of missing him. However, Mo Jingteng had ruined this tranquil bliss.
She couldn’t afford to be polite with him!
“Wen Ran, co out for a mont, I have sothing to discuss with you.”
Mo Jingteng’s words were straight to the point, his tone no better than Wen Ran’s was. He sounded commanding, as though he was the chairman perched high above, but she was not one of his underlings.
“Sorry, Chairman Mo, I don’t have the ti right now. Let’s talk about it tomorrow.”
“Wen Ran, co to right now, I need to ask you sothing extrely important. It’s related to Xiuchen.”
The volu of Mo Jingteng’s voice suddenly increased, almost to the point of roaring, startling Wen Ran. Her eyebrows knit lightly. She thought for a mont before refusing again, “Chairman Mo, if you have sothing to say, say it over the phone, or wait until tomorrow to talk.”
Implicitly, she was not going to et him.
On the other end of the line, Mo Jingteng was so angry that he almost spat blood. But unable making the defiant Wen Ran yield, he could only curse her silently, before hanging up the phone in a fit of rage.
