Chapter 743: Hate the previous secretary

Wen Ran was under the impression that Mo Xiuchen was clarifying things to her.

Such a dreadful thought triggered a surge of emotions in her, causing her hand which held the phone to tighten.

A sense of joy began to blossom in her heart.

It quickly spread to every single cell of her body.

Just one ssage made her world filled with the brilliance and warmth of spring.

She knew that Cheng Jia stayed with him not only as his fiancée, but also as his secretary.

Now, he told her that he had changed his secretary and was in a good mood.

She couldn’t ignore the implication that he was explaining, hinting, and even testing her.

She stared at her phone, wondering whether she should reply and what to say.

Her Mo Xiuchen was too clever and she feared that she might say sothing wrong and sow doubt in his heart.

From the mont he called her, he seed convinced of sothing.

Thus ca the first cryptic ssage, which was still incomprehensible despite the passage of ti.

If soone else had sent her such a ssage, she would think them crazy.

But this was from Mo Xiuchen, the man she loved deeply. The re fact that he could rember her number despite his mory loss…

Made her so tender-hearted, like a tranquil lake.

What was even worse, she couldn’t resist.

Whenever she received his ssages, she wanted to reply as soon as possible.

Even if she couldn’t tell him that she was his Ranran, his beloved, she still hoped to give him so warmth.

To lessen his loneliness in a foreign country.

She pursed her lips, took a deep breath, and began to craft her reply on the screen.

She wrote and deleted, rewrote and deleted again. She revised her ssage five or six tis.

Finally, she was left with four words: “As long as You are Happy.”

This was her utmost wish – for him to be happy.

She clicked the send button, watching the ssage go out. Her heart fluttered with anticipation, hoping for another reply from him.

However, given her past experience, she didn’t think he would reply imdiately.

Maybe he would reply in an hour, or maybe in a day.

This seemingly indifferent communication style . . .

Wasn’t it ant to prolong their conversation? Making their hearts long for each other in the intervals between the replies.

The deep night in D Country did not grant peace to its downtown areas.

Mo Xiuchen stood with his hands behind his back in front of a floor-length window, only separated from the outside world by a sheet of glass. He gazed solemnly into the sky.

The sound of a new ssage ca from behind him.

He turned his head to look at the phone on the bedside table. A soft warmth settled in his deep, lonely eyes.

Without any hesitation, he walked back to his bed and picked up the phone to read the ssage.

The content of her reply was within his expectation.

The phrase ‘As long as You are Happy’ t his eyes.

Mo Xiuchen’s lips curved slightly, his aristocratic and cold features softened, and he was in a good mood.

He stared at her ssage, and the more he read it, the more amusing he found it. Eventually, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

If he wasn’t mistaken, she must have thought carefully before replying to those four words.

It left him guessing whether she knew him beforehand.

No matter whether she knew him or not, it wasn’t important.

This was a number that he rembered in his dreams after his mory loss. Even if they didn’t know each other before, it didn’t matter.

He clearly knew that he enjoyed chatting with this woman whose face he hadn’t seen but heard her voice.

That alone was enough.

He swiftly typed another reply, “I very much disliked the previous secretary, I’ve booked a flight for her tomorrow to return to the country. She won’t be in my sight for quite so ti, and that indeed is a joyful thing.”

This ti, his ssage was longer; he wanted to see how she would respond.

Would she always carefully choose her words, only to provide information that revealed nothing?

Wen Ran didn’t expect Mo Xiuchen to reply so quickly, and with such a long ssage.

Seeing him say that he despised the previous secretary reminded her of a similar statent he made half a year ago.

Back then, she admitted she disliked Cheng Jia, and he told her he didn’t like Cheng Jia either.

She was surprised at the ti. Later, he added ‘if I were to like soone, it would only be you’.

Those words had likely been what struck a chord in her.

She hadn’t expected that, after all this ti, his words about Cheng Jia remained the sa – he despised her, he didn’t like her.

Wen Ran didn’t reply to that ssage, yet her mood remained lifted for the entire day.

In the afternoon, just before work ended, An Lin ca to her office and asked her out for dinner.

Seeing Wen Ran with a foolish smile on her face, she was taken aback and asked curiously, “Ranran, what are you looking at, to make you smile so gently?”

An Lin had entered directly, but Wen Ran was too engrossed in her phone to hear the door open.

Greeting An Lin’s voice unexpectedly, she quickly looked up. Seeing her approach in high heels, she put away her phone and calmly replied, “Just reading a joke.”

An Lin eyed her skeptically, “Really? Your smile while reading a joke is so gentle?”

“Gentle? You must have misunderstood.”

Wen Ran raised her eyebrows and chuckled lightly.

“Perhaps. By the way, Ranran, let’s have dinner together tonight. I’ve already spoken to Ah Mu and Ah Feng. Ah Mu asked to invite you.”

An Lin walked over to her desk, leaning on it slightly, and looked at her with a bright smile.

Rarely did they all have no other engagents in the evening.

“No problem.”

Wen Ran blinked her eyes. Not having to work overti, it didn’t matter if she didn’t return to her apartnt early.

Seeing her agree, An Lin’s smile beca even brighter, “Ranran, I’ll call Ah Mu now to tell him that you’ve agreed.”

Hearing this, Wen Ran felt sothing was off.

She looked confused as An Lin took out her phone. While dialing, she explained, “Ah Mu told earlier that you must be tired from work and advised not to drag you out.”

Of course, An Lin was not the type of person who would be easily discouraged. Unable to out-argue Ah Mu, she decided to discuss it with Wen Ran instead.

The call connected after two rings and Ah Mu’s voice ca through, a single, monotone, “Hello.”

Compared to Ah Mu’s calm and deep voice, An Lin’s tone was far more cheerful, “Ah Mu, I’ve talked to Ranran. She agreed to go out tonight. You and Ah Feng are not allowed to run off.”

Go out?

Watching An Lin grin triumphantly, Wen Ran realized she had been tricked.

What she had agreed to was to go out for dinner. How had it turned into going out for fun?

After hanging up, An Lin chuckled and said, “Ranran, Ah Mu and Ah Feng will also be there. I’ve arranged everything. We’ll have dinner first, and then go for karaoke…”
