Wen Ran’s brow furrowed slightly, and after searching her mory for a mont, a realization smile appeared on her lips, “I thought he looked familiar just now, and now I rember. I saw the man before while shopping at the mall.”
It was before Xiaoxiao went abroad; they had gone to the mall and encountered that young couple buying a baby crib. She never thought that this man would know Fu Jingyi too?
At the door of the hospital room, Wen Ran looked through the glass window only to see Fu Jingyi half-reclining on the hospital bed. He appeared to have aged a decade in just a few months, his expression haggard. It was unclear whether it was the hospital gown that had masked his typically chilling aura, or if he had truly let go. Upon hearing the door open, Fu Jingyi’s gaze drifted toward the entrance. Wen Ran offered a faint smile and walked toward the bed with so fruit, saying, “I bought you so pears.”
Fu Jingyi’s gaze settled on Wen Ran, his eyes carrying a hint of bewildernt. Hearing her ntion the pears, a flicker of light seed to pass through his eyes.
In an instant, it dissipated, leaving his gaze lonely and weathered.
Old Zhang’s face, gaunt and haggard from illness, showed a complex smile, “You actually rember I like pears, sit down.”
“I wouldn’t have rembered this ti last year, but now that I do, I thought I might as well bring so for you. However, it seems soone beat to it; my purchase might be redundant.”
“It won’t be redundant. Peel one for ; I’ll eat it now,” Fu Jingyi said with a smile, his eyes sweeping over the pears Li En had brought earlier.
Wen Ran raised an eyebrow, a graceful smile adorning her face: “No problem, I still know how to peel pears.”
As she spoke, Wen Ran picked up the fruit knife from the tray and took out a pear to peel for him.
“The man who left just now, he wouldn’t happen to be your son, would he?” Wen Ran asked nonchalantly while peeling the pear.
Fu Jingyi’s smile froze on his face.
Wen Ran looked slightly taken aback, “If I guessed wrong, there’s no need for such an expression.”
“Do you think I could have a son that old? Girl, I’ll tell you, the only woman I’ve ever loved in my life is your mother. I made a mistake back then, but that woman did not get pregnant. Later, another woman bore a daughter. She’s your age.”

Wen Ran shook her head disapprovingly, speaking lightly, “Your daughter doesn’t want to say who the man is; she must have her reasons. You don’t know the full story and yet you want the other party to pay a price. Aren’t you afraid that this person might be soone your daughter likes?”
