Wen Ran chuckled lightly, “I know, don’t worry.”
“Ranran, I’ll co ho and have dinner with you tonight.” Mo Xiuchen’s laughter ca through the phone, his voice deep and gentle, carrying a subtle longing from not seeing her all day.
The smile in Wen Ran’s eyes grew even gentler, “Alright, I’ll cook dinner.”
“You’re not to cook. Just let Nanny Zhang do it; you just take it easy these days.” Mo Xiuchen, being a man, was even clearer about what a woman should and shouldn’t do during her period than she was herself.
It inevitably reminded Wen Ran of her mother, who also used to instruct her not to do this and that during those few days of each month and would specially make so soup for her to drink.

Suddenly, she heard footsteps in the hallway outside; recognizing the familiar tread, she knew who it was.
Wen Ran was startled, not expecting Mo Xiuchen to return so soon. She hurriedly put down her ‘tools of cri’ and returned the two boxes of treasures to the drawer, closing it just as the door was pushed open from outside and Mo Xiuchen’s handso figure appeared in the doorway.
“Ranran, I’m back.”
His cheerful voice ca from the door, deep and pleasant, yet still magnetic, but Wen Ran, feeling guilty, jumped slightly, straightened herself, and turned to look at the door.

“I said I was coming back to have dinner with you, of course I had to co back quickly.” Mo Xiuchen’s gaze swept over to Wen Ran’s hand hidden behind her back, his narrow eyes squinting slightly and the smile on his lips deepening, “Ranran, what do you have in your hand?”
Wen Ran’s eyes flickered for a mont, and she maintained a calm smile on her face, “I’m not holding anything. I thought you would be back after dark, what did you do today?”
She brought her hand from behind to the front, opening her palm towards Mo Xiuchen as proof that she wasn’t up to anything.
Mo Xiuchen caught her hand, brought it to his lips, and kissed it, his eyes dropping slightly, a sharp gleam flickering deep in his gaze.
“Ranran, your hand slls nice.”
Wen Ran’s heart skipped a beat, pretending to be surprised, she asked, “Really? I didn’t sll anything, maybe it’s because I just applied hand cream. You sll nice too, Mo Xiuchen, I’m really curious, what surprise have you actually prepared for ?”
Mo Xiuchen’s long fingers brushed her forehead hair aside, his eyes swept over the drawer behind her, mysteriously saying, “If you knew now, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore.”
This wasn’t the first ti Wen Ran had heard him say that. She pouted and said, “I know you won’t tell , let’s go, let’s see if Nanny Zhang has finished cooking.”
Once downstairs, Mo Xiuchen kept Wen Ran company on the sofa for a while until Nanny Zhang had dinner ready. During the al, Mo Xiuchen smiled and said:
“Ranran, I’ll take you out tomorrow.”
“It’s so cold, where are we going?” Wen Ran always felt particularly out of sorts during these days of the month, which Mo Xiuchen knew, so he thought of taking her out to lighten her mood.
A gentle smile appeared on Mo Xiuchen’s lips, “Let’s go to the countryside, we haven’t been there for a long ti. Let’s stay there overnight, the air is good in the countryside.”
Wen Ran hesitated for a mont and then nodded in agreent.

“What’s up?” Jiang Liu was taken aback by Mo Xiuchen’s question, his voice carrying a hint of bewildernt.
“A few days ago…” Mo Xiuchen briefly explained how Shen Yuting had spread false rumors to hurt Ranran, and then warned Jiang Liu, “If you really like her, you should persuade her to stop. If it happens again, I won’t let her off easily.”
“Understood.” Although Jiang Liu was puzzled why Mo Xiuchen was being so kind as to call him, he agreed to talk to Shen Yuting.
Mo Xiuchen hung up the phone and pondered for a few minutes before returning to the office.
Pushing open the office door, his gaze imdiately turned to Wen Ran who was diligently working head down. The afternoon sun from the floor-to-ceiling window refracted in, perfectly lighting her black silky hair, bright and glossy.
Hearing the sound, Wen Ran looked up towards the door, their gazes t in the air, and the traces of coldness in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes lted into tender affection. His lips curled into a gentle smile as he walked towards her.
“Ranran, if you are tired, rest for a while before continuing,” said Mo Xiuchen as he stood behind Wen Ran, habitually placing his hands on her shoulders, kneading them with skilled movents and just the right amount of pressure.
Wen Ran closed her eyes in enjoynt, slightly tilted her head back, leaning into the chair, and with a voice oozing coquettish allure from her parted lips said, “Mo Xiuchen, this is really comfortable.”
Affection swirled deep in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, his hands kept moving as he gently said, “Then enjoy for a while, I’ll massage you.”
