"Hey, go away if the two of you want to be romantic. Can’t you see that we’re busy here?"
As he spoke, the leader of the gang commanded his n to continue their operation.
Janice couldn’t stand it anymore when she heard that.
"Don’t ss around. I’m a reporter here."
She showed him her reporters’ ID as she spoke.
The leader of the gang took a closer look at her ID and sneered.
"A reporter? Do you think that we will be afraid of a reporter like you? What a joke. Continue smashing!"
Since what she said earlier was useless, Janice picked up a stick beside her and waved it threateningly in the air. The n quickly dodged and avoided her.
Her actions worked and it scared them slightly. Janice continued to threaten them. "Still want to ss with ?"
The leader of the gang gazed at Janice and mocked her. "You want to act tough in front of ?" He sneered and added, "You’re just a weak girl. What do you think you can do here?"
He hinted to his n as he spoke. Several n ca forward and caught Janice.
"Let go."
Janice struggled but her actions were futile.
"You said you’re taking charge of this. I’ll let you do it. Take her away."
Then, he ordered his n to drag Janice out of the office.
Benjamin stood there with clenched fists. He roared when he saw that Janice was about to be taken away. "Let go of her!"
The leader ordered his n to stop and looked at Benjamin with a sneer. "Oh? Are you trying to act like a hero now to save the damsel in distress?"
"Let her go. She has nothing to do with this."
Benjamin said angrily.
The man sneered. "It’s too late. I’ve already warned her not to ddle in other people’s business. Who told her to stand up for you? Take her away."
Then, they took Janice away.
"I’ll go with you. Let her go." Benjamin said.
As Benjamin said that, the leader waved his hand at his n, and Janice was released.
Benjamin walked towards Janice and thanked her.
"Janice, thank you for standing up for ."
Benjamin was taken away as soon as he finished his words.
Janice wanted to go after him but she was stopped by the leader of the gang. "Hey, it’s none of your business. You’d better stay here."
Janice stood there hopelessly and witnessed the scene where Benjamin was taken away.
"Janice, Director Taylor..."
Lucy happened to walk past Benjamin when she ca over to Janice.
Janice looked at Lucy dejectedly. She couldn’t even believe that this happened in the station.
Janice was in distress after returning to her seat. She couldn’t bear her colleague’s indifferent attitude. Benjamin was taken away by a bunch of thugs in front of everyone but everyone was pretending as nothing had happened.
It seems that only she and Lucy knew about the incident in the whole office.
Although she didn’t know who those people were, she couldn’t just let them go. She asked Lucy.
"Lucy, do you know who those people are?"
After all, Lucy was there before her, so she definitely knew better.
Lucy shook her head. "I don’t know either. They looked like gang mbers and were intimidating. Even the security guards at the door didn’t stop them."
Janice was even more worried after she heard Lucy.
No matter what, she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. Thinking of that, she stood up.
Lucy was surprised. "Where are you going?"
Janice replied, "I’m going to the chief’s office."
She walked towards Chief Gray’s office.
"Chief."
Janice walked to the chief’s office and knocked on the door.
Chief Gray was sitting in the office. When he heard Janice knocking on his door, he looked up at her and asked, "What’s the matter?"
...
Janice went into his office.
"Chief, do you know that Director Taylor had just been taken away?"
Chief Gray froze in his tracks. There was a trace of embarrassnt on his face. "Janice, stop asking about this."
"Why? Chief, we’re in the station. They took Director Taylor away in broad daylight. Don’t you think that it’s completely unheard of?"
Janice was very puzzled.
Seeing Janice’s furious face, Chief Gray replied, "Janice, I know that you have good intentions, but there are many unfair things in the world. Besides, those are Director Taylor’s family matters. How can we outsiders intervene?"
"Family matters?"
Janice was confused. She had known Benjamin for a long ti. But she never knew about his family. She replied, "But even if it’s family matters, he shouldn’t be taken away just like that."
They were at the TV station and this was his workplace.
"Janice, I told you. Stop asking. Go back to work."
Chief Gray got up and tried to chase her away from his office.
Since he wasn’t going to be any help to her, Janice had no choice but to return to her seat.
As soon as she sat down on her seat, Lucy asked, "So? What did Chief Gray say?"
Janice shook her head.
Lucy sighed. "Looks like even he can’t help Director Taylor."
Janice asked, "Lucy, do you really want to help him?"
Lucy nodded.
"Then we can investigate on our own. I don’t believe that these people can take him away just like that." Janice said.
"What should we do?" Lucy asked.
Janice thought for a mont and said, "I’ll look for Benjamin’s father. Although he’s retired, he won’t ignore what happened. You can try to find out the identity of the n."
Lucy thought that her plan was workable when she heard Janice.
The two of them went to execute their plans separately.
When Janice finally reached Old Director’s house, she was told that he was away.
She had no choice but to call Lucy.
"Janice, I found out what happened. Apparently, Director Taylor was an illegitimate lovechild."
"Love child?"
Janice was surprised. She had known Benjamin for so long and only knew that he was a poor student. She never knew that he had such a complicated family matter.
But what could she do since his father was away?
Janice grew anxious but a thought suddenly flashed in her mind. She rembered the last ti she t the old Director Taylor in the restaurant with Christopher. Christopher told her that he was the friend of the other man’s son. Could Christopher be of any help?
Janice hesitated when she thought of her relationship with Benjamin.
She couldn’t be bothered about it at that mont. So she called Christopher.
In the office.
Rob told Christopher about the incident in the TV station that morning.
"I heard that Mrs. Taylor sent so n over to create havoc and took Benjamin away as well."
Christopher stopped asking after he heard Rob. He wouldn’t care as long as it had nothing to do with Janice.
His phone suddenly rang and Christopher picked it up.
"Christopher, can you help?"
Janice’s voice could be heard from the other end of the phone.
Christopher was surprised. After all, this was the first ti Janice had asked him for help.
He said, "What’s the matter?"
Janice asked, "Are you classmates with the old Director Taylor’s son?"
Christopher was puzzled. He didn’t expect her to ask him about that. He nodded. "Yes."
...
"Then can you help find out where Director Taylor was taken to? I don’t have ti to explain all the details to you."
Christopher muttered internally. "Of course, it had to be about that."
He frowned. "Janice, this is soone else’s private business. We shouldn’t interfere."
"Christopher, I know, but... can you help ? Or can you give his contact number? I’ll call him."
Christopher was gloomy when he heard Janice.
It wasn’t because he was unwilling to help Janice, but this was the Taylors family drama. He didn’t want to get involved.
Moreover, Benjamin was interested in Janice.
No matter what, he didn’t want to help the other man.
Christopher asked, "Why did you want to help him?"
"Christopher, I don’t have ti to explain to you. Can you give his number?" Janice muttered anxiously.
Even though he was unwilling to intervene, he relented when he heard Janice’s anxious voice. He asked, "Where are you? I’ll co for you."
Janice quickly sent her location to Christopher on WhatsApp.
Not long after, Christopher arrived with his car.
"Christopher."
Janice imdiately rushed over when she saw Christopher.
Christopher stared at her anxious expression and his expression darkened. "Do you really want to help him?"
Janice nodded without hesitation.
Christopher stopped and stared at Janice before he said, "Alright, co with ."
After that, he turned around and got in the car.
Janice quickly followed him.
The car sped on its way.
Along the way, neither of them spoke in the car.
Janice stared out of the window nervously. She didn’t know where Christopher would take her, but she knew that he must have had a solution.
Christopher knew that Janice was anxious.
He was annoyed when he saw Janice’s expression.
Benjamin was just her boss. Why was she so nervous?
Christopher wondered in his heart.
He wanted to see who Benjamin was, this man who had made Janice so worried.
The car soon stopped at the door of a villa.
Christopher opened the door and got out of the car. Janice followed him and got out of the car as well.
The two of them walked towards the entrance of the villa. Christopher reached out and keyed in the password skillfully. Beep. The door was opened.
Janice was very puzzled when she saw that. She thought," Where is this? How did Christopher know the password?"
She was confused when Christopher told her. "Go in." Janice recovered from her daze and followed Christopher.
The villa was very large and luxurious. Janice had no ti to appreciate the beauty of the villa. She wondered what kind of place it was.
She looked at Christopher.
"Christopher, where ..."
Christopher glanced at her. "You’ll know when you get in."
Janice stopped asking and followed him.
As soon as they walked in, a man in pajamas greeted them with sleepy eyes.
"Chris, why are you here all of a sudden?"
The man was yawning when he saw them. He was startled when he saw Janice behind Christopher.
"Who..."
Christopher pulled Janice towards his arms and said, "She’s my wife. Janice Gladwell. Janice, this is my friend, Jas Taylor."
Janice imdiately knew when she heard the na. He was Christopher’s classmate and Benjamin’s brother.
