After hanging up the phone, Fiona Sutton arrived at Tara Jason’s dormitory.
She knocked gently on the door, and soon saw Tara Jason, her face flushed, coming to answer it.
"Hmm? Fiona?"
Tara was stunned, not expecting Fiona to be outside.
"You’re running a fever; I’m taking you to the hospital."
Tara’s expression changed. After inviting her in, she sat down to look at her.
"Did he send you?"
After a long ti, Tara finally asked the question.
"Yes."
Upon hearing Fiona’s affirmative answer, Tara smiled slightly.
"You see, he’s always like this. Sotis he’s heartbreakingly cold, and just when you’ve decided to give up, he reappears in your life."
Charles Northwood is just like that: indecisive and ambiguous.
"I’ve already taken dicine, I don’t need to go to the hospital. I can take care of myself."
Tara frowned, looking at Fiona, hesitating after she finished speaking.
"But you, you look worse than I do. Don’t you think you need to go to the hospital more than I do?"
Fiona laughed easily, reaching out to pat her own cheek.
"I’m pregnant."
She said it candidly in front of Tara.
Tara was stunned.
Before, when Charles Northwood took Fiona under his care, Tara knew, but Charles never ntioned that Fiona was pregnant,
He was protecting Fiona in his own way.
Even if Tara might misunderstand.
But unexpectedly, today Fiona was speaking about it so calmly.
"The morning sickness has been pretty severe lately, so I look a bit pale."
She smiled, indifferent to others’ opinions.
"Pregnant? The child’s father..."
Tara bit her lip. Fiona was pregnant, so why had she not seen the father?
"Don’t overthink it; the child is not Charles Northwood’s."
"I’m not overthinking."
Tara shook her head, just feeling that Fiona’s current situation was pitiful.
However, a mont later she thought of her own situation, wondering if she were pregnant, would she and Charles Northwood be in this predicant?
"The child’s father is already dead."
Fiona didn’t know how to face these things herself.
She always thought that Yancy Hastings wasn’t a good person.
When she was in love with Charles, she got involved with Yancy.
When she had to give up on Charles, Yancy started to cling to her, wanting to take responsibility.
After Yancy died, she found out she was pregnant.
She’d been pondering the sa question all this ti: had she truly fallen for Yancy Hastings?
The excruciating pain during that ti wasn’t due to the pregnancy, or facing an uncertain future alone, or because the child’s real father was no longer there.
It was because...
She had fallen for soone who was already dead.
"Dead?"
Tara was utterly shocked. She was just a university student, naturally not exposed to so much death.
Moreover, Fiona’s boyfriend should have been quite young.
How could this be...
She always thought Fiona had rely been abandoned.
"Yes, he had promised to take responsibility for but instead, irresponsibly, he died."
Fiona said this casually, but Tara saw the deep sorrow in her eyes.
She must have really liked her boyfriend a lot.
