The cafe around the corner was elegantly decorated. A soft yellow glow caressed every table and chair. Being there, one could forget their troubles, enveloped in a tranquil ambiance that seed detached from society’s hustle and bustle.
"Speak your mind quickly."
Nia Mitchell sat down. Everything between them had changed overnight.
Hendry Hampton’s brow was deeply furrowed, his usual refined deanor gone.
"Nia Mitchell, you put on quite an act! To think I once believed you were so innocent, pure maiden. I finally see your true colors."
Nia sneered, "Between you and , who is more despicable? I think you know better than anyone."
Hendry’s fists tightened, veins bulging on his forehead.
"You betrayed , and you still have the gall to be engaged to ? It’s just as everyone said: you’re obsessed with money to the point of madness. Nia Mitchell, and to think I actually felt guilty! Little did I know you’d already found soone else—Maxwell Peary? Tell , how did you hook up with him?"
First thing in the morning, police officers had arrived at Hampton Corporation to investigate alleged problems with their products. Simultaneously, multiple business partners had abruptly terminated their collaborations, and several major shareholders had absconded with company funds.
The Hampton Family was cornered, on the brink of bankruptcy.
"Nia Mitchell, are you satisfied now? After dumping , you won’t even spare my family? Or were you only after the Hampton family fortune when you first approached ?"
All of a sudden, Hendry stepped forward, seizing Nia’s throat. This woman, with her calculated sches, had driven him into a corner, making him appear faithless and unjust. Her venomous heart had left him utterly destitute. He was no longer the lofty heir of the Hampton Family. All of it, every single thing, was because of her!
"AH!!!"
Had Hendry gone mad? Nia struggled, slapping at Hendry’s hand, which was choking her.
"Hen... Hendry, let... let go!"
Not many guests were in the cafe at this ti. The few scattered around appeared dumbstruck by the scene.
"Nia Mitchell!" Hendry roared furiously. "Even if I die, you’re coming with !"
A deafening roar echoed in her ears. Nia struggled desperately as her oxygen dwindled and her strength began to fade.
Just when Nia thought she was about to die, Hendry suddenly loosened his grip.
"AH!"
Hendry felt a sharp pain in his shoulder and whirled around to see who had hit him with a wooden stick.
Damn it! Hendry thought furiously. To think there are actually such busybodies in this world!
"Call the police right away!"
A few young n imdiately rushed over to restrain Hendry. Bystanders took out their phones to call the police, while others ca over to help Nia, who had collapsed on the ground.
"Miss, are you alright?"
Nia slowly stood up, looked at Hendry, and shook her head. It was impossible to expect soone who subconsciously saw themselves as a victim to co to their senses.
"Hendry," Nia coughed, "COUGH, COUGH... I must have been blind to ever fall for soone like you! You deserve this! This is your retribution!"
Looking at the enraged and unhinged Hendry, she’d expected to feel sad or heartbroken. But she felt nothing of the sort. Instead, a wave of relief washed over her.
"Nia Mitchell, you bitch!" Hendry struggled violently, desperately trying to break free. He had to get out of here; otherwise, the police would arrive soon.
A bitch? Even the most mild-mannered person would lose their temper if called that. Nia grabbed a cup of coffee and splashed it directly onto Hendry’s face.
"Hendry, you should also get a taste of being dragged to the Police Departnt. I bet you’ve never set foot in a place like that in your entire life."
As Nia finished speaking, the cafe door was pushed open, and several police officers in uniform walked in.
"Who started the fight!?"
