Nia Mitchell stood in the Waiting Room, patting her chest nervously.
Exactly what had transpired between Shirley Grant and Alan Morgan that made her want to leave, even if it ant paying a penalty?
As if in response to her confusion, Maxwell Peary asked a similar question inside the Office Room.
Alan Morgan stood there, managing a bitter smile.
"I didn’t expect her to despise so much," he said. "She was the one who made the mistake, yet sohow I ended up being the villain."
Alan Morgan sighed, looking completely unconcerned, then fell silent.
Maxwell Peary didn’t comnt further on the matter; after all, it was Alan’s personal business.
Ten minutes later, he finished with the urgent files on his desk and handed the rest to Alan Morgan.
"Handle these. I’m leaving for the day," Maxwell Peary said.
Alan was taken aback. Only then did he rember that Maxwell Peary was married now and naturally wouldn’t be staying late to work overti anymore.
Huh? Speaking of a wife, where was Nia Mitchell?
"I’m leaving for the day."
Maxwell Peary raised his voice. Right on cue, Nia Mitchell opened the Waiting Room door.
"Uncle, you’re so punctual! Exactly ten minutes," she said, walking over with a smile, not ntioning the earlier incident with Shirley Grant.
"Let’s go."
Maxwell Peary put his arm around Nia Mitchell, and the two of them opened the door, preparing to head ho.
Nia Mitchell smilingly grabbed Maxwell Peary’s large hand, pondering what they should have for dinner when they got ho.
Just then, in the Secretary Departnt, she saw Shirley Grant staring at them with wide eyes.
Uh.
Nia Mitchell was startled. She subconsciously let go of Maxwell Peary’s hand and quickly took several steps to the side, putting distance between them.
Maxwell Peary felt his hand suddenly empty. He turned to look at Nia Mitchell and also noticed Shirley Grant still standing there.
He hadn’t expected Shirley Grant to still be in the Company after several minutes.
"Um... I..." Nia Mitchell stamred, flustered and unsure what to do.
How should she explain this to Shirley Grant? She looked at the CEO for help in her panic.
Maxwell Peary wasn’t concerned about this at all. He turned to look at Alan Morgan.
"You handle it."
With that, he reached out, once again took Nia Mitchell’s soft little hand, and led her towards the elevator.
Alan Morgan turned to look at Shirley Grant, surprised she hadn’t left.
Her eyes were even redder than before; she must have been crying again.
"This is the CEO’s wife, but she doesn’t want anyone to know," Alan Morgan said as he walked into the Secretary Departnt, a hint of threat in his eyes as he looked at Shirley Grant. "So, you understand what you should do, right?"
Shirley Grant recovered from her shock and continued packing her things.
"Don’t worry," she said. "I won’t be here next week, so naturally, I won’t reveal anything."
Her words made Alan Morgan frown. Had she really decided to leave?
Nia Mitchell followed Maxwell Peary into the elevator, and they headed to the underground parking lot.
"What do we do, what do we do?" Nia Mitchell fretted. "Uncle, what if Shirley Grant tells soone?"
She hadn’t even been working here for a week. If she lost her job over this, that would be terrible!
"Don’t worry, she won’t tell anyone."
Maxwell Peary wasn’t concerned at all. Firstly, he trusted Alan Morgan’s ability, and secondly, he was certain no one in the Company would dare to openly defy his wishes.
After all, he wasn’t just the CEO of MC Group; he was also the renowned Young Master Peary of Capital Town.
