Maxwell Peary, with a scowl on his face and dressed impeccably in a suit, appeared particularly out of place on the vast campus. His imposing aura kept the passing students at bay.
"AHEM!"
Maxwell Peary coughed unnaturally, a signal that Bunny should leave this damned place.
Upon hearing this, Nia Mitchell shot Maxwell Peary an embarrassed glare, then turned back to smile at the Principal.
"Principal, Uncle has already eaten. He was just kidding earlier. Is there anything you wanted to discuss with him?"
The Principal remained silent for a long while after Nia spoke. Maxwell Peary made no attempt to answer. Is he trying to embarrass on purpose?
HUMPH!
The Principal had clearly co to see him, yet she was the one who had to smooth things over.
Isn’t this so awkward? How am I supposed to face everyone at school after this? I still have my thesis defense in June...
"Er... this..."
The Principal stamred, not knowing how to respond.
I’m just here to get on his good side! How am I supposed to say that now that you’ve put on the spot, young lady? the Principal inwardly lanted.
In the end, he could only manage an embarrassed smile.
"Er... It’s nothing. Then... I will not disturb Young Master Peary any longer."
Maxwell Peary nodded. He was perceptive enough to realize it was ti for him to leave.
Nia stood there, dumbstruck. Could anyone tell what on earth just happened? Why am I completely in the dark?
She turned to look at Maxwell Peary, her eyes seeking an explanation.
Seeing her cute little expression, a hint of a smile touched Maxwell Peary’s eyes.
"Let’s go, my little niece."
Nia Mitchell: ...!!!
"Uncle Peary!!!"
Nia’s face flushed red, and she stomped her foot. It must be because I called him Uncle in front of others that he’s doing this... Ah... why is he so petty?
It was now past two in the afternoon. There weren’t many people on the road, and even fewer in the restaurants, or perhaps...
"Uncle Peary, they’ve closed."
Nia stood before Madgar Pavilion, looking up at the brightly lit sign, then turned her head and stuck out her tongue at Maxwell Peary.
On the way, she had told him not to co to Madgar Pavilion because it was too expensive.
See? Even Heaven is on my side!
"Uncle Peary, are you very hungry?"
Only then did Nia rember that he didn’t seem to have touched his breakfast that morning.
"Hm? I am indeed very hungry now. What do you think we should do?"
Maxwell Peary paused for a couple of seconds. He had been about to say he wasn’t hungry. He had once gone three or four days without eating; skipping a al or two was nothing to him.
But when he saw her large, lively eyes shining with concern, the words on the tip of his tongue suddenly changed.
Nia stood there, hesitating for a long ti before finally voicing the thought she had.
"Why don’t you go ho and cook yourself a bowl of noodles?"
Maxwell Peary: ...!!!!
What did you say, Bunny? Have the guts to say it again! I promise I won’t get angry!
Maxwell Peary tried his hardest to suppress the raging turmoil within him, his chest heaving.
"My dear niece, today we’re getting married, and you want to go ho and cook myself a bowl of noodles to make up for my two-hour-late lunch?"
Poor Young Master Peary! Nia, you’re too cruel!
Nia visibly shrank. Uncle has turned evil!
"I’ll make it up to you tonight, okay? We can go out for a big celebratory dinner later, how about that?"
I’ll treat, and he’ll pay. HAHAHA! Nia kept this plan to herself.
Maxwell Peary squinted. He had been unwilling to let it go, but then he rembered... she had said "celebrate."
