Nia Mitchell hurriedly ran into the Secretary Departnt’s Office Room, slightly out of breath.
Seeing her like this, the new Head Secretary, Sophia Moore, seed a little displeased.
"Nia Mitchell, don’t you know that composure is crucial in all official matters? If you rush in like this and accidentally bump into an important guest, can you bear the responsibility?"
Nia Mitchell was taken aback, montarily unable to process what was happening.
"But there are no visitors now."
It wasn’t even eight-thirty yet, and guests, if any, were usually scheduled for after nine. The key point was, pre-scheduled guest appointnts were all handled by the Secretary Departnt. When she first arrived at work, she had checked with the Secretary Departnt; there were no guest appointnts scheduled before nine-thirty this morning.
"I’m just giving you a reminder."
Sophia Moore shot Nia Mitchell a disdainful look and couldn’t help but sneer.
"Don’t make yourself look so unpresentable, lest you embarrass us at MC."
Sophia Moore’s targeting of her ca almost without warning. Nia Mitchell stood there, stunned and a bit bewildered. Is this the first ti we’ve t? Did we have any prior conflicts?
"Secretary Moore, I believe you owe an explanation for your words. Don’t you think you’re being utterly unreasonable?"
Nia Mitchell knew her earlier actions had indeed been sowhat inappropriate. If Sophia Moore had rely pointed it out, she would have humbly accepted the criticism. But Sophia Moore’s sarcastic remarks, each one piercing, were harsh to her ears. If I could still tolerate such mockery, I’d truly be a Ninja.
", unreasonable? I’ve long heard that a newcor in the Secretary Departnt is audacious and reckless, thinking she can run rampant just because she has backing. I didn’t expect it to be true."
The words erging from Sophia Moore’s brightly painted red lips were all barbed.
"Heard? From whom?"
Nia Mitchell frowned. Who would say such things about to her? It only took a mont’s thought—Phoebe Walker! Who else but her would slander like this and also know I work here?
"Who I heard it from is none of your concern."
Sophia Moore shot Nia Mitchell another disdainful look, then sat down at her desk and resud her work, an expression on her face that clearly said, ’I don’t want to waste my ti arguing with you.’
Watching her, Nia Mitchell’s lip twitched. This woman must be unhinged.
Finding the exchange pointless, Nia Mitchell returned to her own desk. Luckily, nothing else eventful happened for the rest of the morning. At least Sophia Moore didn’t make things difficult for her regarding work. For so reason, Nia Mitchell surprisingly found herself feeling a sliver of goodwill towards her.
What the actual hell!
When lunchti arrived, everyone was preparing to go eat. Diana Hill turned to Nia Mitchell.
"Want to go to the Staff Canteen together?"
"Sure."
Nia Mitchell agreed with a smile. She had already inford the CEO that he would be eating alone.
"Great! Let’s go to the third floor today. The sweet and sour beltfish there is especially delicious."
"Really?"
Hearing the words "sweet and sour," Nia Mitchell’s eyes lit up, and she happily went to the Staff Canteen with Diana Hill.
What she didn’t know was that at this very mont, a certain CEO was sitting in his Office Room, chin propped in his hand, waiting for her.
Strange.
Maxwell Peary frowned. Could it be that people in the Office Room haven’t all left yet, so Nia Mitchell got held up?
Possible.
Maxwell Peary reached for the landline phone, intending to call her and rescue her from her gnawing hunger.
But...
The phone rang for a long ti, but no one answered...
