Upon hearing Nia Mitchell’s question, Sophia Moore simply smiled.
"I’m sorry. The report just arrived from the Financial Departnt; there was nothing I could do."
Sophia shrugged, feigning innocence.
Although Nia knew she was doing it on purpose, there was nothing she could do.
After all, she was just a junior employee in the Secretary Departnt, while Sophia was the Head Secretary.
Since the task was ultimately impossible to finish, Nia didn’t bother rushing.
"I’m sorry, but it’s not working hours yet."
Nia didn’t even glance at Sophia. She sat down at her desk and pulled out her phone.
She was curious to see if Sophia could really escape responsibility once the workday ended and the report wasn’t ready for the CEO to sign.
As expected, Sophia hadn’t anticipated that Nia would simply give up on salvaging the situation and refuse to be rushed.
Seeing Nia sitting there, Sophia began to tremble with rage, her face flushed with anger.
"Nia Mitchell, do you even want this job anymore? If you continue to fool around like this, I’ll report you, and you’ll lose it!"
The new Special Assistant hadn’t arrived yet, but Sophia Moore was already acting as if she were in charge.
What right did Sophia have to make her lose her job?
All Nia knew was that if a junior secretary made a mistake or caused a delay, the Head Secretary couldn’t escape responsibility either.
"Go ahead and report then! I’d like to ask the CEO if it’s wrong for not to work during my break. I also want to ask if this impossible workload is soone’s deliberate attempt to sabotage ."
Nia shifted her gaze from her phone to Sophia, who was sitting not far away.
Sophia was rendered speechless by Nia’s words, her face instantly flushing red.
"You! How is this task impossible to finish? It’s you who isn’t doing it..."
Sophia, agitated, stood up abruptly.
"I’m not refusing to do it. It’s just that it’s not working hours yet. It’s like this morning, Secretary Moore, when you arrived at the Company after the CEO. Even though you ca in later than the boss, you weren’t technically late."
Using examples like this was the most cutting.
Because it often left the other person speechless.
Sophia was in this exact state. She had planned to use the task assignnt to put Nia in her place a bit, but unexpectedly, Nia had turned the tables on her.
"I’ve assigned you the task. If you’re too slow to finish it on ti, don’t you know you should start earlier?"
Nia found Sophia’s words almost laughable.
If she could finish it by the end of the workday by working non-stop, she certainly would.
Unfortunately, she knew she couldn’t.
"Secretary Moore, if you’re so fast, why don’t you do it yourself?"
Nia raised an eyebrow. She had already decided: she absolutely wouldn’t start until official working hours.
"Nia Mitchell, do you even consider your superior? If you’re not going to do it, then get out!"
Sophia was so furious she completely lost her composure, shouting loudly.
When Maxwell Peary reached his office, he hadn’t even seen Nia Mitchell yet when he heard the loud shout.
Damn!
What had he just vaguely heard?
Why did it sound like he’d just heard soone telling his Rabina Mitchell to get lost?
Damn it! He couldn’t even bear to raise his voice at Rabina Mitchell. Which damn woman was so cluelessly audacious?
