Before Evelyn could regain her senses, Nia’s cheer rang out.
"Shall we get popcorn later then?"
When it ca to sweets, probably no one loved them as much as Nia.
"Sure!"
After all, wasn’t his suggestion to go to a movie just to see her happy?
"Wonderful! After the movie, let’s grab a midnight snack together."
Nia had already planned all of tonight’s activities in her mind and happily continued her al.
"Hold on a minute. I need to discuss sothing with them next door."
Maxwell gave Nia an apologetic look, but Nia didn’t mind at all.
"Go ahead, I’ll continue eating."
With food in front of her, she waved her greasy hand and continued to eat the sweet-and-sour fish.
Maxwell glanced at Yancy Hastings and Evelyn, gesturing for them to step out.
Quickly, the private room quieted down, leaving Nia alone.
She had assud they were just stepping out for a brief discussion and wouldn’t be gone for too long.
However, she didn’t anticipate that by the ti she finished eating and no longer wanted to move, the trio still had not returned.
Not wanting to disturb them, she decided to pull out her phone and play around a bit.
The screen saver on her phone was a group photo of her with Fiona Sutton and Charles Northwood.
Seeing Fiona Sutton, she rembered Fiona Sutton’s job situation and checked the ti before dialing Edbert.
The long ringback tone was just about to end when Edbert’s voice ca on.
"What’s up?"
From what he rembered, Nia rarely took the initiative to contact him after resigning from Star dia.
"Are you busy?"
Nia asked softly, afraid to interrupt his work.
「anwhile, at the Star dia Conference Room—」
Forty to fifty executives were sitting around the conference table, all staring at Edbert, who was on the phone.
"Not busy."
Edbert ignored the dozens of eyes trained on him and answered casually.
"Oh, good. I’m glad you’re not busy. Work is important, but make sure you take care of your health too."
As his forr secretary, she knew his habits well; once he got busy, he could go an entire day without eating.
"Sure, I will."
Edbert instantly felt warmth in his heart upon hearing this, coming from the very person he no longer had by his side.
"Are you sure you’re not planning on returning to Star dia? If you do, you can continue your previous role, and I can even promote you."
Obviously, salary wouldn’t be an issue either.
"I’m doing just fine at MC right now, and you know, I’m with my husband."
At the ntion of Maxwell, Edbert’s expression changed, and his eyebrows furrowed instantly.
"It’s exactly because of your relationship with Maxwell that I advise you to co to Star dia. Your special status there is ultimately not a good thing."
After all, MC isn’t a family business, and the thing they scoff at most is nepotism.
No doubt, Nia’s status there is absolutely awkward.
Perhaps this is one of the reasons their relationship has not been made public.
"When we make it public, I might resign."
How could Nia not have considered this issue? The reason she hadn’t ntioned it was because she had already quietly made her choice.
Hearing her words, Edbert felt a hint of regret.
"When you choose to resign, you’re still welco here."
He sighed with a sense of defeat, and his whole aura during the eting crumbled.
"Okay, thank you."
In the vast conference room, everyone waited with bated breath. Suddenly, they saw Edbert flash a small smile.
