Nia Mitchell had only ever seen this kind of scene on TV before. She didn’t expect to witness it for herself.
Laughing, she pulled away from Maxwell Peary’s embrace and, after removing her shoes, walked in barefoot.
"It’s so soft!"
The scent of roses filled the air.
She laughed as she spun around the private room, the soft sensation under her feet making her heart tingle.
"Uncle, look! It’s so beautiful!"
At that mont, Nia Mitchell desperately wanted to share this with soone, so she turned her gaze to Maxwell Peary.
However, Maxwell Peary’s expression was incredibly foul.
Usually, his expression would be bad, but never this bad.
His face was dark, and a chilly aura emanated from him, clearly indicating his displeasure.
Nia Mitchell and Evelyn Peary were puzzled. Why was he unhappy?
"Uncle? What’s wrong?"
Doesn’t Uncle like roses? Nia Mitchell wondered. That can’t be right. If he didn’t, Evelyn Peary should know.
However, Nia Mitchell was unaware that Evelyn Peary genuinely didn’t know these things.
Regarding Maxwell Peary’s preferences, Evelyn Peary was utterly clueless.
Even Mom probably doesn’t know, right? Who asked him to always wear such a stern face, barely saying a word and just sitting there radiating coldness? How would I ever get a chance to understand him?
"Nothing," Maxwell Peary said curtly, clearly unhappy.
He then turned to Evelyn Peary and ordered, "Clean this place up."
Before Nia Mitchell could say anything more, Maxwell Peary had already issued the command.
"Why?" Nia Mitchell ran up to Maxwell Peary, confused. Eating in a place like this is so romantic! And the fragrance of flowers mixed with the aroma of food is simply wonderful!
"No reason," Maxwell Peary muttered awkwardly, then kicked the rose petals in front of him.
He walked on, kicking petals with each step. Upon reaching the dining table, Maxwell Peary swept the blue enchantress roses from it onto the floor.
"I’m giving you ten minutes. Clean it up imdiately," Maxwell Peary said again, his displeasure clear when he saw Evelyn Peary hadn’t moved.
Evelyn Peary was speechless. Why has this surprise fallen so flat? Doesn’t Big Brother like it? My logic was simple: arrange what won typically like. If my sister-in-law is delighted, then he should be happy too. But what on earth is happening? Big Brother is actually... He’s throwing a tantrum!
"Uncle, what is wrong with you?" Nia Mitchell asked.
Why does he seem so upset ever since he saw these roses? she wondered, unable to figure it out even after wracking her brain.
"Nothing."
It was the sa reply. Maxwell Peary couldn’t be bothered to say more and simply sat down.
Nia Mitchell pouted, glancing down at the blue enchantress roses on the floor.
Such beautiful flowers, and I didn’t even get to touch them before he tossed them aside. He’s infuriating! Infuriating, infuriating, infuriating!
Nia Mitchell was sulking too. With a frustrated sound, she plopped onto a chair and remained silent.
The atmosphere instantly grew tense. Evelyn Peary, caught in the middle, felt rather awkward.
"Alright, I’ll get it cleaned up then," Evelyn Peary said.
With that, she quickly left the private room to find a waiter.
Once she departed, only Nia Mitchell and Maxwell Peary remained in the large private booth.
A heavy silence descended.
After a long while, Maxwell Peary looked up at Nia Mitchell.
"Forget everything you saw today."
His domineering command, delivered in that tone, made Nia Mitchell even more upset.
"I won’t forget!"
