Nia Mitchell ignored what others might be thinking and simply continued eating. It’s only lunchti. When will this alumni gathering ever end? I should’ve listened to the class representative and not co at all. But Fiona Sutton is here, and it’s so rare for to see her, even though we haven’t exchanged a single word.
"Since you’ve declined, there’s nothing I can do," Julia Adams said, shaking her head regretfully, as if a truly good intention had been ruined. "After all, if my relatives were to help, and your husband lacked the capability, it would put my relatives in a difficult position too."
Her disappointed expression might elicit sympathy from others. But to , it just seems contrived, Nia thought. Oh my god, this Julia Adams is even more annoying than Phoebe Walker or Sophia Moore from the Office Room!
"Thank you for your kind intentions, but I believe you’re simply unable to help at all," Nia Mitchell stated, not caring in the least what others thought of her, as long as she felt better after speaking her mind. If I keep it all bottled up inside, I’ll probably suffocate.
"Nia Mitchell, you really don’t appreciate what’s good for you!" a girl at the sa table, who had always been close to Julia Adams, suddenly spoke up. "Julia Adams was kindly trying to help you. Not only did you refuse, but you also said she couldn’t help. Isn’t that failing to appreciate what’s good for you? It’s completely unappreciative of her kindness!"
Usually, Fiona Sutton would have stepped in to help by now, but not this ti. I have to fight alone, Nia thought.
Charles Northwood, at another table, was surrounded by a group of young n urging him to drink, completely oblivious to what was happening here. When it ca to squabbles between girls, n often couldn’t help anyway.
"And how exactly have I failed to appreciate what’s good for ?" Nia Mitchell retorted, slamming her chopsticks down, not caring about her image. I have a temper too, and I won’t let anyone bully !
"Unlike you all, I don’t need to suck up to her. What’s wrong with declining?" Nia Mitchell sneered, then picked up her chopsticks and continued eating. I won’t let others spoil my appetite; I’ll be the one to lose out in the end.
Seeing her nonchalance, Julia Adams clenched her fists in anger. She then picked up a piece of the food, put it in her mouth, and imdiately frowned and spat it out.
"This is so disgusting!" she exclaid, exaggeratingly scrunching up her face as she looked at Nia Mitchell with disdain.
That dish was none other than the one Nia Mitchell had tasted in front of the Manager just monts before.
Noticing that this dish hadn’t been touched by anyone else, Julia Adams imdiately poured her drink over it.
"Sothing this disgusting shouldn’t be eaten by anyone! It’s truly vile," she declared, ensuring others couldn’t taste the dish and would never know its true flavor.
Seeing Julia Adams’s actions, everyone frowned. They slightly disapproved, but no one voiced their opinion. If it’s not tasty, just don’t eat it. Why pour a drink into it?
"Nia Mitchell, you were just sucking up to the Manager earlier, weren’t you?" Julia Adams accused, frowning as she smoothed her chest and repeatedly rinsed her mouth. "You could even eat such a disgusting dish. I truly admire you."
It was as if the dish were really that unpalatable.
Seeing her performance, many people were inclined to believe Julia Adams. After all, she ca from a good family, had received a good education, and had tasted many exotic delicacies. So, if Julia Adams says it’s unpalatable, it must genuinely be unpalatable.
Thinking about Nia Mitchell’s earlier expression and her praise for the dish, everyone began to smirk and sneer.
