Maxwell Peary held his forehead, only just realizing that he hadn’t yet inford Rabina Mitchell about his job.
Thus, his expression silently conveyed his approval of Alan Morgan’s unspoken suggestion.
"Don’t you know that Maxwell Peary is the CEO of MC Group?"
Nia Mitchell was dumbfounded. !!!
Had she misheard? Alan Morgan actually said Maxwell Peary was the CEO of MC Group.
"Are you kidding ?"
Nia Mitchell shot Alan Morgan a contemptuous look and plopped down onto the sofa. "Uncle Peary is indeed quite wealthy, but to say he’s the CEO of MC Group? Do you enjoy fooling ? And to lie right in front of Uncle Peary? Such a fabrication would be debunked in minutes, wouldn’t it?"
Alan Morgan’s eyes widened. He turned to look at Maxwell Peary and shrugged slightly. It wasn’t his fault; this young lady simply refused to believe it.
Pouting, Nia Mitchell turned her head to look at Maxwell Peary, then reached out and patted his head.
"It’s okay. We don’t need to compare ourselves to those Local Tyrants from MC. Uncle, you’re already very, very rich. Look at where we live and what we eat—we’re not lacking anything, are we?"
Listening to Nia Mitchell’s heartfelt reassurances, Maxwell Peary chuckled.
Alan Morgan just stood there, completely stunned. Who could save him? He’d just returned from a business trip abroad, and everything had changed. This couldn’t be right; his understanding of the situation had to be flawed. Was this woman the boss’s niece? But didn’t the boss always detest those ssy family connections?
"Sweetheart."
Maxwell Peary pulled Nia Mitchell into his arms, gently brushing aside a strand of hair that had fallen across her face.
"I really am the CEO of MC Group. I’ve been so busy lately that I forgot to tell you."
Nia Mitchell blinked. Uncle Peary was the CEO of MC Group? She’d heard that MC Group was nad using the initials of its current CEO. Maxwell... MC. So, you really are the CEO of MC Group?
Nia Mitchell was astonished. What kind of incredible person had she married? And who was it that told her the CEO of MC Group was an old man?
"So, you really are the CEO of MC Group?"
"Yes," Maxwell Peary nodded, his gaze fixed on her eyes, unwilling to miss a single one of her expressions.
"Then, does that an I’ll be working at MC too? You told yesterday that I could be your secretary, right, right, right?" Nia Mitchell exclaid, excitedly kneeling on the sofa as she looked at Maxwell Peary with anticipation.
"Welco, Mrs. Peary, to using the back door."
"Wow!" Nia Mitchell declared, giving Maxwell Peary an enthusiastic bear hug. She then jumped off the sofa and made a V-for-victory sign. "This is great! I’m going to work at MC!"
An ecstatic Rabina Mitchell jumped up and down; not only did one of her slippers fly off, but as she jumped down from the sofa, she also knocked over the glass of water in Maxwell Peary’s hand.
That was right!
Young Master Peary was drenched, his white shirt instantly soaked through.
"Sit properly. You have no manners at all."
Although his words were harsh, they carried more concern than reprimand. Seeing the trouble she had caused, Nia Mitchell stuck out her tongue playfully and sat down obediently, but the smile never left her face.
"Uncle, Uncle, when do I start? How about tomorrow? Or maybe this afternoon? Hmm, if people find out I got the job through connections, will they gossip about behind my back? No, no, we should pretend we don’t know each other. Uncle, Uncle, what do you think of my suggestion?"
Nia Mitchell, in her excitent, chattered on endlessly. Listening to her, Maxwell Peary felt a headache coming on, his temples throbbing.
"As long as you’re happy, do whatever you like."
"Oh yeah! Uncle, I like you the most!"
Alan Morgan retreated a few steps, getting clear of the imdiate drama, his mouth twitching. He felt like he’d stumbled upon a massive secret. Would he be silenced for knowing too much?
