Nia Mitchell returned to the living room to find Maxwell Peary sitting there, an almost palpable dark aura emanating from him. The atmosphere felt completely off. She faltered for a mont, utterly unaware of what had transpired.
Confused, she looked at Evelyn Peary. Evelyn Peary shrugged helplessly; she had witnessed the entire situation escalate and was equally at a loss.
Seeing this, Nia Mitchell furrowed her brow. After a mont’s hesitation, she walked over to Maxwell Peary.
"Uncle?"
Maxwell Peary was startled, only then realizing Bunny had approached him. "Hmm? Finished talking?" He was still dazed; it seed he had completely zoned out.
"Yes. What are you doing, Uncle?" Nia Mitchell smiled sweetly, offering her little paw to him.
"Nothing. Let’s go ho." Maxwell Peary’s expression softened slightly as he reached out and took the little paw offered to him. "Let’s go."
Nia Mitchell nodded, making no further comnt.
"Maxwell Peary!" Samuel Peary finally exploded. He hadn’t expected Nia Mitchell to be so arrogant, an arrogance undoubtedly fueled by Maxwell Peary’s indulgence.
Maxwell Peary looked up at Samuel Peary. "What is it?" he asked, raising an eyebrow, his tone laden with implication.
"You’d better watch yourself! You’re well aware of the consequences of these matters, and this woman..." Samuel Peary’s words were cut short by Maxwell Peary’s piercing gaze.
"She is my wife." Maxwell Peary hadn’t intended to explain, but he said it anyway. He didn’t want to antagonize Samuel Peary, but Samuel Peary showed no sign of relenting.
"If I find out you’ve done anything you shouldn’t have, you know what I’m capable of." The threat from Maxwell Peary was delivered in a voice devoid of any warmth. In that mont, he was like a Hell Asura, utterly rciless.
"Are you threatening ?!" Samuel Peary could hardly believe his ears. This was his son! Incredible! To think the Peary clan could produce such a figure was astounding.
"I never threaten anyone." With that, Maxwell Peary took Nia Mitchell’s hand and prepared to leave.
Young Master Peary claiming he never threatened anyone—that was truly laughable. Who would believe such a thing? Probably not a single person pulled randomly off the street.
Watching them prepare to leave so brazenly, Phoebe Harris grew anxious. "Maxwell, he’s your father! How can you speak to him like that?" Her voice was shrill as the accusations tumbled out. "He’s your father! Silvia Waterborne must have taught you to behave this way, didn’t she?" Phoebe Harris smirked. She had vowed to bring Silvia Waterborne down; she would never allow Silvia Waterborne a place in the Peary household.
At the ntion of Silvia Waterborne, the three mbers of the Peary family present tensed.
"Why bring her up out of nowhere?" Samuel Peary snapped. Silvia Waterborne was his absolute sore spot; he couldn’t bear to hear her na ntioned in his presence. Her na had beco a taboo in the old Peary residence.
"What, am I not allowed to ntion her now?" Phoebe Harris retorted, extrely displeased by Samuel Peary’s reaction. "It was Silvia Waterborne who taught him! Look at him! Who else could raise their son to be like this? And Evelyn Peary, too, she’s also..."
SLAP!
A resounding slap echoed through the Peary ho, stunning everyone.
