Owen Lewis had a look of frustration on his face.
Things were just starting to progress, at the peak of tension, and he couldn’t just get up and leave.
He couldn’t. In these circles, it would be seen as running away. Wouldn’t others think he was scared?
Scared my ass!
He was determined to crush this bastard who dared to cross him.
"Get back here."
Maxwell Peary, oblivious to these issues, remained expressionless.
The company’s affairs weren’t sothing he could handle alone. He had to get Lewis over here.
Things had beco much more stable in the Black Market, so it didn’t need much attention anymore.
As for Owen Lewis being so busy now, that was entirely his own doing.
"Boss, I don’t like being out in the open."
Owen Lewis looked like he was on the verge of tears and wanted to shut off his computer, but he didn’t dare.
"I’ll get Annie Davidson to co over."
This was the only card Maxwell Peary had left to play. It was the biggest temptation for Owen Lewis.
Annie Davidson?
Upon hearing her na, Owen Lewis was stunned.
This was incredible; Young Master Peary was actually resorting to bribing him.
Just thinking of those days honeymooning abroad sent a thrill through him; every cell in his body seed to buzz with excitent.
The sense of comfort, the sweetness, made him especially reluctant to leave it behind.
"Okay, deal!"
And so, Owen Lewis was roped in.
After leaving the Black Market, Owen Lewis, uncomfortably dressed in a suit, quickly drove to the MC Group building.
Annie Davidson, bag in hand, was just arriving at the Grand Gate Entrance.
It had to be fate; the two of them t at the company entrance, their eyes eting.
It had been a few days, and Annie seed to have lost so weight.
"Long ti no see."
Owen Lewis stood before Annie. Seeing her like this, his heart ached.
Annie didn’t think anything was wrong with her; on the contrary, she felt healthy and fine.
"There was no need to see ."
With that, Annie prepared to leave.
"Annie!"
Owen Lewis grabbed her hand, not allowing her to leave so easily.
"I know you’re angry right now, and I know what I said that day was wrong."
Owen Lewis began to apologize, looking into Annie’s eyes.
"No need. To Mr. Lewis, won are just tools for bearing children, aren’t they?"
How could Annie not be angry?
That day at the airport, when this topic ca up, he had said exactly that, quite bluntly.
Words like those would make even a bystander furious.
Not to ntion, Annie had already married him by then.
"I’m sorry. I take back my words."
Owen Lewis furrowed his brow, trying to win her back.
"I never knew Mr. Lewis had the ability to turn back ti. Words spoken are like spilled water; how can they be taken back?"
Annie was clearly still angry, her deanor keeping others at bay.
Owen Lewis knew she was on the brink of breaking down. Given Annie’s usual personality, if he persisted at this point, she would definitely lash out.
He hesitated for a mont, then slowly let go of her hand.
Seeing him release her, Annie shot him a glare and turned to leave, but she halted when she heard his next words.
"I’ve always known that the Lewis family only has one son, and I... I’m just a tool for the Lewis family."
Annie turned around, looking at him, perplexed.
"I know I could beco a corpse at any mont. I can’t find my roots, no place to truly call my own. But I want to leave sothing behind in this world. I don’t know what I’ll beco in the next mont, but I really want to have a child. A child with our blood, who looks like both you and , and then... calls Dad, and you Mom."
