Hearing the voice on the phone, Nia Mitchell’s lips twitched.
So, what the hell was going on?
Was the CEO in a bad mood now?
If I didn’t understand his mood by now, I’d be a fool.
"What do you want to do then?"
She was sitting in Edbert’s car, having just agreed to go sowhere with him. But now, it seed things were about to change.
How well did Edbert know Nia?
He was already driving directly towards the MC Group.
’What do I want you to do?’ Maxwell thought. Is this Rabina trying to dump the problem on ? That must be it. When did she get so clever?
CEO Maxwell was thoroughly displeased. He sat there alone, radiating a chilling aura.
"Co back now!" Maxwell Peary said coldly, then listened intently to the other end of the call, curious about Nia’s reaction.
Nia looked stunned. She raised her head to look at Edbert, her expression apologetic.
Edbert smiled and shook his head, showing no sign of blaming her.
"I’ll take you there now."
With that, Edbert accelerated.
Nia gave an apologetic smile, though a hint of displeasure also touched her face.
"I understand."
With a CLICK, she hung up.
Nia was also annoyed. Looking at the phone in her hand, her earlier smile had vanished.
「MC Group—」
The luxury car glided to a halt, and Nia unbuckled her seatbelt.
"I’m sorry," she said. "I’d promised we’d go out." She’d forgotten she was still technically at work.
"It’s fine; we can arrange it for another ti. You won’t just ignore if I don’t ask you out again, will you?" Edbert smiled, his expression tender.
"Of course not. Thank you."
With that, she prepared to leave.
Edbert caught her arm.
"What is it?" Nia blinked, looking at Edbert with a puzzled expression.
Edbert picked up the craftwork he had just bought and handed it to her.
"This is for you."
With that, he pressed the ceramic piece directly into Nia’s hand.
"Huh? No, didn’t you say you were going to give this to a friend? Why is it for now?" She widened her eyes in disbelief, hesitant to accept it.
"I intended to give this to you from the start. Don’t overthink it," he said, his expression tender, yet there was an undeniable firmness in his tone.
Looking at the item in her hand, she was sowhat at a loss as to what to do.
"Just take it. It was always for you. If you try to give it back, I’ll just throw it away."
Edbert ant what he said. Seeing his firm stance, Nia reluctantly accepted it.
Clutching the ceramic piece, Nia walked back to the MC Group building step by step.
When she reached the Secretary Departnt, she hesitated for a mont. Instead of going in, she proceeded directly to the CEO’s Office Room.
When Maxwell Peary saw Nia walk in, he snorted coldly.
Nia felt awkward but still plastered a smile on her face.
"Oh, don’t be like that."
Nia walked over, casually placed the ceramic piece on the CEO’s desk, and then moved to his side.
"I was coming back anyway. Are you angry?"
Seeing his angry facade, Nia felt a surge of secret amusent.
"I’m not angry!"
The CEO was not pleased to hear her say that. Who did she think he was? Would he get angry? Ridiculous! It wasn’t even a big deal. What was there to be angry about?
