"Are they delicious?"
Nia Mitchell looked expectantly at Maxwell Peary, her eyes narrowed in laughter.
"Mm, they’re delicious."
Maxwell Peary nodded. Compared to bitter coffee, these were a delicacy.
"Indeed! Uncle Peary, which shop did you buy these soup dumplings from? I used to like them, but I’ve never had any this delicious before," Nia Mitchell said, picking up another one and putting it in her mouth, smacking her lips in satisfaction.
Maxwell Peary looked up at the butler. Only then did Nia Mitchell realize. Oh, right, the great CEO has a butler; he wouldn’t know about these minor breakfast details.
"Young Madam, this breakfast was made by a chef specially hired to prepare Chinese dishes. Would you like to et this chef?"
Nia Mitchell was taken aback. She hadn’t expected that these weren’t bought from outside but made by a chef hired to cook breakfast specifically at their ho.
Wow, Uncle Peary, do you have to be so extravagant?
"No need, I was just asking casually."
Nia Mitchell continued to eat the soup dumplings, but sohow, they didn’t taste as good as they did at first.
"What’s wrong?" Noticing the change in her mood, Maxwell Peary looked at her.
"Nothing."
She felt like she couldn’t quite fit into his life. Could she tell him that?
"Mm, if anything is wrong, rember to tell . Don’t keep it bottled up inside."
Maxwell Peary couldn’t force her to speak. He could only wait patiently for the day she would willingly share all her little thoughts and concerns with him.
「MC Group Underground Garage」
Nia Mitchell quickly got out of Maxwell Peary’s car. Luckily, there was no one in the parking lot at the mont.
"Uncle Peary, I’ll go up first. Rember, we’re strangers now!"
After making a playful face, Nia Mitchell quickly got into the elevator and pressed the button for the sixteenth floor, where the Human Resources Departnt was located. She had to report in first.
Maxwell Peary chuckled, a helpless smile on his face. After getting out of the car, he straightened his tie. He really couldn’t do anything about her.
「Sixteenth Floor」
When Nia Mitchell stepped out of the elevator, she gasped. Wow, it’s huge! The elegant decor was so impressive it naturally made one want to sigh in admiration. It wasn’t even official work hours yet, but almost all the employees had arrived and were already busy.
Is this the fast pace of a big company?
Nia Mitchell encouraged herself. She had to report in first, and then she could beco one of them.
"Excuse , could you tell where the Human Resources Departnt Manager’s office is?"
Nia Mitchell asked the first person she spotted, but that person just glanced at her and hurried away without a word.
What’s wrong with these people?!
At first, Nia Mitchell thought it was just that the person she’d asked was unsociable. But after four or five more people gave her the sa treatnt, she beca frustrated.
Finally, after what felt like countless twists and turns that took over ten minutes, she found herself standing before the manager’s office.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
"Co in."
Nia Mitchell pushed open the door. To her surprise, the Human Resources Departnt Manager was a woman who looked to be in her thirties.
"Hello, I’m Nia Mitchell. I’m here to..."
"I know."
Manager Zheng interrupted Nia Mitchell’s self-introduction. She had already been notified that soone would be coming to report in, and that this person was assigned to the Secretary Departnt.
MC Group wasn’t currently short-staffed. Even if they were looking to hire, any new hires would be people ticulously screened by her Human Resources Departnt.
This person who was ’parachuted’ in is clearly here only because of her connections.
Manager Zheng handed Nia Mitchell a few sheets of paper, her face cold and unreadable, betraying no emotion.
"I don’t care what kind of background you have. Now that you’re at MC Group, you will adhere to MC Group’s regulations. I don’t want you making your supervisor wait for you for over ten minutes again."
Nia Mitchell was stunned. Is she reprimanding for being late?
"I was late because I couldn’t find the office. When I asked people for directions, they wouldn’t..."
"I don’t want to hear any excuses," Manager Zheng cut Nia Mitchell off again.
