All of a sudden, Fiona Sutton’s voice turned hoarse, and tears stread down her cheeks. She knew the military wouldn’t joke about such a matter. Yancy Hastings was truly gone. Fiona Sutton was on the verge of a breakdown, her fists clenched tightly, her face etched with sorrow.
"I’m very sorry." Zion Hastings watched her cry, his own heart aching. He hadn’t even known Yancy Hastings had a girlfriend. And now, Yancy would never see the day he had always looked forward to.
Fiona Sutton frowned, glaring at Zion Hastings. "Why? Can’t I even see him?" She was furious. Couldn’t even this small request be granted?
"He left no body behind. All we found at the scene was a large amount of his blood, along with footprints of frantic movents." Zion Hastings sat there, his expression grave. His straight back was drenched in sweat. No one knew what he felt when he received the news. For so many days, he had hoped each day for a turn of events, refusing to believe that such a thing could happen to his son. Yet, he couldn’t deny the harsh reality. He had never imagined Yancy Hastings would end up like this. To die without a complete body—it was the cruelest end.
Fiona Sutton sat there, shaking her head. Impossible, impossible.
"No way!" She suddenly stood up and slamd the table. Instantly, her world turned pitch-black, and she fell backward.
「The villa on the hillside.」
Nia Mitchell had been waiting for Maxwell Peary, who finally returned looking completely exhausted and pale.
"Uncle?" Nia Mitchell was holding a food container, ready to bring so food to the hospital.
During this ti, Mr. Mitchell had mostly recovered and was able to get out of bed and walk around. Aldy Mitchell’s surgery had also been very successful. Although he still couldn’t get out of bed, his wound was healing very well. Belinda Swan had stopped calling, and Nia’s mind had gradually begun to relax.
"Hmm." Maxwell Peary rubbed his temples and, looking at the food container in Nia’s hand, seed a bit lost in thought.
"How’s everything at the hospital?" He had been practically isolated from the world while busy with work. As soon as he finished, he flew back imdiately, rushing so much that his cell phone had long run out of battery.
"Aldy is much better. If you’re tired, Uncle, you should rest." Looking at the dark circles under his eyes, Nia Mitchell couldn’t help but feel distressed.
Maxwell Peary nodded, sighed, and pulled Nia Mitchell into his arms. "Tomorrow, clear your schedule and co out with ." His voice was filled with exhaustion, causing Nia Mitchell to pause for a mont.
She nodded and hugged him back. "Understood."
She smiled, hugged him tightly for another mont, then gently pulled away. "You should rest now. I need to deliver food to the hospital." There were so many things I wanted to say to him, yet in that mont, it seed like all my words were forgotten. As if a hug was enough, and nothing else needed to be said.
Maxwell Peary nodded. He opened his mouth as if to say sothing, hesitated, then spoke after all. "Yancy Hastings, he... has fallen."
Maxwell Peary’s sudden words left Nia Mitchell stunned and motionless. Fallen? When was the last ti I saw Yancy Hastings? The dormitory. And Fiona Sutton...
"How can this be? Uncle, sothing like this..." I wanted to ask how he could say such a thing so lightly. But... I knew Maxwell Peary wouldn’t say it if he wasn’t certain.
