Charles Northwood didn’t believe sothing so good could happen.
"Go on, what exactly happened?"
On the other end of the line, upon hearing his question, there was a sudden sense of relief.
"Charles, you’re still worried about the Northwood Family, always worried."
Charles was montarily stunned, the usual gentleness on his face gradually faded, becoming more solemn.
"What exactly happened?"
He slowly stood up from the chair, his brows furrowing tightly.
"It’s nothing major, trust , I can handle it."
After saying that, he abruptly hung up the phone.
Charles stood there, unable to calm his emotions for a long ti.
So, he dialed another number.
"Help check whether sothing happened to the Northwood Family."
After giving his instructions, he sat on the sofa, his eyes closed.
How many years has it been?
The events of those years seem like a static black-and-white picture now. The anger and sadness of that ti have gradually subsided.
It seems he can completely see himself as an observer now.
Thinking about those things, there’s no hatred left, no resentnt.
As for why he still hasn’t gone back, it might be because he keeps reminding himself to resent the Northwood Family and not to return.
Soon, the phone rings again, but for him, it’s enough to filter through past events once more.
"Go ahead, what happened?"
There was a brief silence on the other end, then a very serious answer.
"It’s the Peary Clan’s old man making a move against the Northwood Family."
Charles’s eyes widened instantly, what a strategy.
Now he finally understood why Maxwell Peary wanted to use his hand to deal with the Swan Family, turns out he was waiting for him here.
"I see."
After hanging up the phone, Charles’s lips slowly curled up.
As expected of Young Master Peary, his style hadn’t changed a bit.
Far away in D City, Maxwell was currently sitting happily in the Mitchell’s small Living Room, whispering sweet nothings with Nia Mitchell.
Opposite them, Aldy Mitchell had a look of utter despair.
Did they have to flaunt their love like this?
He felt like a pathetic single dog, utterly...
Too miserable.
"Uncle, how about I take you to visit my old high school this afternoon?"
Nia suddenly had a light bulb mont and looked excited at the thought.
She hadn’t visited her alma mater in four years, and she was really looking forward to it, curious about how it might have changed.
"High school?"
Hearing the words, Maxwell Peary felt a kind of emotion pass through his heart.
Such strange words, sothing he had never experienced. Back then, he mostly self-studied and spent most of his ti managing his business.
He never really got to play or enjoy his youth.
Now, hearing his little wife ntion these words, he surprisingly felt a twinge of anticipation.
"Sure."
If it’s accompanying Nia, he didn’t mind doing sothing so trivial.
"Yes, yes, I also want to visit the places I used to frequent, let you understand my past, haha."
The oppressive feelings of late were all released, and Nia was beaming as usual, like a child.
How could soone like Nia not move Maxwell’s heart?
"Alright, you have to give a tour then."
"Of course, let’s just consider it a little trip."
With Maxwell having little business at the mont, Nia was keen to seize this opportunity.
"Okay."
Maxwell nodded, reaching out to tidy Nia’s black, beautiful hair.
