"Haha, a direct hit!"
"Dude, didn't I tell you to aim a little off? You completely blew him to bits! How are we supposed to explain this back at headquarters? Boss Guo specifically said to bring him back alive and only execute him if he proves useless."
"Boss Guo won't sweat the small stuff. We'll just say he put up a stubborn resistance and even tried to poison us, so we were forced to fight back. That should work."
"True..."
From a kiloter away, they had used binoculars to watch Lin Tang bathing, butt-naked, making him the perfect target. Unable to resist, they had pressed the launch button.
This ti, Lin Tang is dead for sure. He certainly can't poison us now.
Confident, they closed in to surround the area. When they caught sight of Shen Youling and Lee Encai, their eyes widened.
"Whoa—"
"She really is a breathtaking beauty! So lovely it makes you feel protective."
"No wonder Boss Xiao couldn't resist making her his goddaughter!"
"And the one next to her isn't half bad either!"
"So, what if we..."
The thought of Lin Tang's death filled Shen Youling with profound sadness, but also a simring rage. With reddened eyes, she hissed, "Why did you kill him for no reason? What did he ever do to you? I'm going to report this to my foster father and have him punish you butchers! I will avenge my husband!"
"Heh—"
Her threats were t with scorn.
"Listen, beautiful, get one thing straight. We're from Boss Guo's Iron Blood Camp, not under Boss Xiao's jurisdiction."
"Besides, Boss Xiao and Boss Guo have been friends for decades. You think he'd turn on his old friend for a goddaughter he's known for a few days?"
"You really think too highly of yourself. Rember, you're just a goddaughter, not his actual flesh and blood!"
"And with Boss Xiao gravely injured, you ran away instead of staying by his side to care for him. That's both unfilial and deeply disrespectful!"
"If Boss Xiao pulls through, he might not even acknowledge you anymore!"
"And if he's not so fortunate... your title as his daughter will be nothing but a joke!"
They mocked her without restraint, their words dripping with disdain. A chill washed over Shen Youling's heart.
They're right. As a goddaughter, I was never anything more than a tool. When Long Tianji was harassing before, didn't my foster father just turn a blind eye? In the end... you can only rely on yourself. Did I really think becoming Boss Xiao's goddaughter would grant security? How naive! Lin Tang, I'm so sorry. I don't even have the power to seek justice for you...
Overwheld by grief and emotional turmoil, her body swayed, and she collapsed backward in a faint.
"Hey, hey—" Lee Encai quickly caught her, shaking her gently.
"Hah, now she's playing dead?"
"Co on, brothers! Let's carry Boss Xiao's cheap little goddaughter away!"
"Hee hee, can we cop a feel on the way?"
"That's probably not a good idea. She's Boss Xiao's daughter, after all."
"It's just a few touches. For Boss Guo's sake, Boss Xiao won't say a thing."
"Besides, if none of us talk, who's going to know?"
"What about this chick?"
"She's not Boss Xiao's daughter. We can do whatever we want with her!"
Acting with complete abandon, they reached for Lee Encai and the unconscious Shen Youling.
"You—you people!" Lee Encai trembled with rage. "Lin Tang, if you weren't blown to bits, get out here and save us! Stop playing around!"
"PFFT!"
"What's she talking about?"
"She must have been scared senseless. Does she really think that Lin guy is still alive?"
One of them grabbed her hand, forcefully yanking her away from Shen Youling's side. Another impatiently reached for her leg.
"You..." an ethereal voice drifted from afar.
"WILL DIE!"
The voice was suddenly right beside them, exploding in their ears.
"Not good!"
"On your guard!"
BOOM!
The dragon-shaped True Qi, wrapped in a massive volu of lake water, struck with the force of a pirate ship's pendulum at an amusent park. In the blink of an eye, the entire group fell silent, their high-powered weapons reduced to useless scrap tal.
Lin Tang's face was a mask of indifference. Like a river god, he walked out of the water, stepping onto the shore one foot at a ti. Then... he started searching for his clothes, which had been blasted God-knows-where by the explosion.
Buddha, please, I hope they're not torn to shreds!
He had no desire to wear the clothes of these scoundrels.
A little while later, after cleaning up the scene, Lin Tang dusted off his hands, got into the car, and told Lee Encai to drive.
As she drove, Lee Encai asked, "What do we do when Boss Xiao and that Boss Guo send more people after us? What's the explanation?"
"No explanation is needed," Lin Tang said coolly. "After I find a safe place for you two to settle down, I'm going back alone to eliminate this problem for good."
He was truly fed up. He had held back several tis, only for them to push their luck further each ti. His simple refusal to heal Xiao Xuanye had escalated to them opening fire with artillery. If that was how they wanted to play it, then it was ti to make them feel so real pain.
"You're going back alone? Then, what about ..." Lee Encai was still worried about Yan Luoyang.
Lin Tang tossed her a stack of talismans refined from Hui Snake scales.
"With these for protection, Yan Luoyang will turn tail and run the mont he sees them. I'll teach you how to use them..."
Generally, when a person stops breathing from drowning or other forms of suffocation, there's a window of a few minutes for resuscitation. As a Grandmaster, Xiao Xuanye was exceptionally durable. With the remnants of Lin Tang's True Qi cleared away, and after the doctors' frantic efforts, he was finally brought back to life. However, the ordeal of brushing against death's door had left him thoroughly battered. Chen Shanchun and the others were also completely drained, their faces showing the relief of having survived the crisis.
We barely managed to pull through with him!
Although he was alive, Xiao Xuanye had not regained consciousness and remained in a coma.
Guo Jufeng, however, was in high spirits. He pressed Ning Yuexi for more information about the "demons." Ning Yuexi was tight-lipped and unwilling to elaborate, only relenting when it seed Guo Jufeng was about to lose his temper.
She reluctantly explained, "Creatures like demons were nurous in ancient tis. They should have all been wiped out in the modern era; I don't know why they have reappeared."
"They can take human form, but they can also morph into bizarre shapes. Their greatest evil is forcibly plundering the spiritual essence of heaven and earth for their own use. When that spiritual essence grew thin, they turned their gaze upon the Spirit of All Things."
"The Spirit of All Things? What's that?"
"The Spirit of All Things is, naturally, us humans."
"Uh—"
"Even though most humans don't cultivate, our bodies naturally absorb minuscule amounts of the world's spiritual essence. Demons would cage and raise countless humans, drinking their blood and eating their flesh to accumulate power from these small amounts. That is why demons are the public enemy of all humanity. If you encounter one, you must destroy it!"
Ning Yuexi, now wearing a fresh, clean veil, spoke with grave solemnity.
Guo Jufeng wasn't entirely convinced, but he made his decision.
Once I capture this Long Tianji and stick him in the lab for so research, I'll find out whether he's a human or one of these so-called demons.
He then checked the ti, his brow furrowing slightly. "I sent my n out last night. Why haven't they brought back old Xiao's adopted daughter yet? How could they have not found her after all this ti? Useless!"
Just as he was about to make a call, Xiao Xuanye's subordinate returned with the Cloud Flipping and Rain Covering Technique. The aide was about to personally deliver it to the location Lin Tang had specified.
"Just give that to !" Guo Jufeng snatched the manual. He didn't bother looking through it, as he'd already seen it before. The leaders of their nine camps had exchanged martial arts knowledge on many occasions, all in the hope of breaking through to the Celestial King realm. They knew each other's techniques inside and out.
"You all stay here and protect Boss Xiao. I'll be right back!"
"Yes, sir!"
"Mr. Guo, are you planning to lie in wait for the demon to walk into your trap?" Ning Yuexi asked.
"Exactly. Why?"
"I think you should call for backup, just to be safe..."
"Hahaha! Are you saying I can't handle him alone? Little girl, you severely underestimate , Guo Jufeng!"
Seeing his boisterous laughter, Ning Yuexi felt helpless. She followed him out onto the street. "If you won't get help, then at least let co with you. Demons Extermination is the creed of my Ning clan for generations. I would not hesitate to sacrifice my life for it!"
"Oh?" Guo Jufeng was rather moved. Recalling how strange her necklace was, he nodded. "Fine. If you want to co, then co along..."
"Demons Extermination? Are you referring to ?"
An ice-cold voice suddenly cut through the air. They both whipped their heads around to see Lin Tang, wearing Long Tianji's face and a different set of clothes, walking steadily toward them.
"You're Long Tianji?" Guo Jufeng squinted, sizing him up. He was inwardly shocked and suspicious because he couldn't detect any sign of martial arts in the man before him. But the look of horrified rage on the face of Xiao Xuanye's aide, who had escorted him out, confird it—this was their man.
"Where is the manual? I grew impatient, so I ca to get it myself," Lin Tang said to the aide.
"Long Tianji! You bastard! Boss Xiao never did anything to you! Why were you so ruthless? You nearly killed him!" the aide roared.
"Hm?" Lin Tang's brow twitched. He hadn't intended to kill Xiao Xuanye; if he had, he would have just done it on the spot. Under normal circumstances, Xiao Xuanye would have recovered after a few days in bed. Unless...
"You hired a bunch of quack doctors whose treatnt backfired and nearly killed him. What does that have to do with ?" Lin Tang said with contempt.
"It was clearly you who—"
"Enough! I, Long Tianji, have never needed to explain my actions to anyone. Give the manual!"
"You want it? Co and get it, if you've got the guts!" Guo Jufeng flashed the manual before stuffing it into his coat, a savage grin on his face.
Lin Tang stared at him for a long mont.
"Insolent fool."
BOOM!
He threw a simple, straight punch. It erupted with the force of a flash flood, the power instantly crossing dozens of ters to slam into the space before Guo Jufeng. The ground buckled, sending shards of cent flying. Cars parked on either side of the street were flipped over by the invisible shockwave.
"A good attack!" Guo Jufeng roared, erupting like a volcano himself. His body swelled as he unleashed a massive wave of energy, channeling it into his fan-sized palm to et Lin Tang's fist head-on.
Ning Yuexi's scalp tingled as she felt an unprecedented sense of danger. In her eyes, Lin Tang had transford into a vicious, terrifying beast wreathed in a sky-rending, bloody aura.
I have to seal him!
She produced another yellow talisman, sared it with her blood, and slapped it right onto Lin Tang's forehead.
SMACK!
Lin Tang didn't even flinch.
A smile blood on Ning Yuexi's face. "It's done!"
"...Are you tickling ??"
