When people are on the brink of despair, they will cling desperately to even the slightest sliver of hope.
Therefore, even though reason told them that Lin Tang alone couldn't change much, seeing him turn to flee still left Li'er and the others utterly disappointed once again. This was especially true for Li'er. I'm the real Li'er, not Lan Lili! But... what good would it do? Maybe he really was just here to save soone else with the sa na. After all, I co from an ordinary family. Who would risk their life to save for nothing?
"You think you can co and go as you please? What do you take this place for?" Feng Shaohai sneered. "I heard you're tough, that even blades can't kill you. Let's see how you handle bullets, then... Kill him!"
Several of his n pulled their triggers simultaneously.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Lin Tang didn't dodge. Or rather, he never intended to. He let the bullets strike him. His body trembled a few tis, and with a small cry, he collapsed to the ground.
Feng Shaohai assud he was dead, his expression growing bored. As he ordered his n to drag the body away to be chopped up and fed to the dogs, he turned to his guests. "Co on, everyone, let's get back to the party!"
"Haha!"
"Alright!"
The crowd laughed as the burly man once again lifted Li'er.
"Wait a second!"
Lin Tang shakily pushed himself to his feet again, raising a hand. "I'm not dead yet. I can still manage."
"Hm?"
Everyone was startled. Feng Shaohai's jaw dropped in astonishnt. They had all clearly seen him get shot. How was this possible?
"I refuse to believe this!" Feng Shaohai roared, personally grabbing a machine gun. He unleashed a continuous barrage at Lin Tang. RAT-TAT-TAT! RAT-TAT-TAT!
The muzzle flashed, spitting a stream of high-velocity bullets that hamred into Lin Tang, forcing him back step by step, his body jerking violently with each impact. Finally, he staggered backward and fell heavily to the ground.
Panting heavily, Feng Shaohai lowered the weapon as he glared at Lin Tang's still form. Seeing no movent, he scoffed, "Tch!"
But just as he was about to turn away, he noticed sothing bizarre. The big toe on one of Lin Tang's feet was gently scratching the ankle of the other.
"Holy shit!"
Feng Shaohai's eyes nearly popped out of his skull. A bone-deep chill shot up his spine. No matter how dimwitted he was, he knew sothing was terribly wrong with this man.
He panicked. "Keep firing!" he shrieked frantically. "Empty your clips! Kill him! Aaaahhh!!!"
His n, equally terrified, hastily aid and resud their wild barrage. Amidst the storm of bullets, Lin Tang stood up once more, even taking a mont to stretch lazily.
"This is getting really boring," he said with a helpless smile, then snapped his fingers. "Let's end this ga now, shall we?"
SNAP!
With the sound, he vanished.
The next mont, he reappeared beside the burly man and made a casual swipe with his hand. The man's wrist was severed, and blood gushed like a fountain. He opened his mouth to scream, only to find his throat had also been slit, rendering him mute.
Li'er tumbled to the floor, too stunned to feel the pain. She stared blankly at Lin Tang, her mind a complete void. Is he a god? Or a demon?
"You must be Li'er," Lin Tang said gently. "Your mother is waiting for you. You should go now."
"I..." Li'er's mouth hung open.
Feng Shaohai was about to piss himself in terror. Seeing the interaction, he mistakenly thought Li'er was Lin Tang's weakness and scread with a crazed sort of joy, "Don't you co any closer! I'm warning you, don't move, or I'll kill her! She can't stop bullets!"
His n swiveled their guns to aim at Li'er, their scalps tingling with fear.
"My friend, I believe there has been a great misunderstanding..." one of Feng Shaohai's guests, a Yakuza mber from the Cherry Blossom Country, said, trembling as he tried to distance himself from his host.
"Shush," Lin Tang said, pressing a finger to his lips. "You must remain silent while I'm playing the hero."
The Yakuza mber opened his mouth to speak again, but his groin suddenly exploded. He let out a bizarre, agonized shriek.
"I said quiet, didn't you hear ?" Lin Tang asked, annoyed. With a wave of his hand, the other n suffered the sa grueso fate, their agonized screams rising and falling in waves.
Lin Tang sighed in resignation. "Honestly, do none of you understand plain language? Such a distinct lack of manners."
He strode toward the only one left standing, Feng Shaohai, who was now shaking like a leaf, his face ashen. He no longer possessed the courage to pull the trigger. Putting on a frail bluster, he howled, "Stay back! You can't hurt ! Do you have any idea who I am? I am the young master of the Feng Family! Our Feng Family..."
He was cut off mid-sentence by a sharp pain in his mouth. His upper and lower lips simply fell to the ground. They were followed by his nose, ears, forehead, and chin. The flesh on his body began to slough off like dumplings dropping into boiling water, quickly reducing him to a re skeleton.
Lin Tang walked past the clattering bones and continued out of the manor. Behind him, the others' wails gradually faded as they, too, stopped breathing, their deaths exceedingly grueso.
Several minutes passed before the remaining girls finally snapped out of their daze.
"We... we're saved?"
"We're really saved! This is wonderful!"
They sobbed uncontrollably as they scrambled to wash themselves and find clothes before fleeing outside.
"Hey, what about ?!" Lan Lili shouted. "Soone get down from here! I'll give you a huge reward!"
At the sa ti, a flicker of annoyance toward Lin Tang grew within her. If you're going to save people, see it through to the end! Who just saves soone halfway and runs off? I have to tell Dad later. He absolutely has to deduct from the man's paynt!
I wonder how he did that, taking so many bullets without dying. And how did he kill all those people? Was it magic? So kind of illusion? She was intensely curious, wanting to uncover the secret, and maybe even learn it for herself. Then, the next ti she encountered villains, she could be the one to punish them.
After Li'er and a few of the other girls kindly helped her down, they all ran out of the manor together. As they cautiously made their way forward, they discovered a horrifying scene. Dead bodies were strewn everywhere. So had obvious wounds, while others looked as if they had simply fallen asleep, with no indication of how they had died.
By the ti they finally left Yunng City, their eyes were numb. Their emotions were a tangled ss. So felt a sense of catharsis, believing those scumbags deserved their fate. Others began to worship Lin Tang, viewing him as a true god. And so beca even more terrified of him.
He was too ruthless. A man who could kill without batting an eye.
「...」
Lan Lili's father, Lan Ziteng, had been frantic ever since his daughter was kidnapped. After a desperate search, he finally learned she had been sold into Yunng City, a discovery that left him grief-stricken. His investigation had told him that no female slave who entered Yunng City ever ca out alive. Still, he had to grasp at any sliver of hope.
He offered a fortune to hire help, but everyone refused the mont they heard the destination was Yunng City. They advised him to save his effort and, while he was still able, try for another child. Eventually, he managed to hire a few desperate rcenaries who valued money over their lives. Once they had assembled, he personally led them to Yunng City, his expression tragic. He carried both the faint hope of rescuing his daughter and the readiness to die there with her. A father's love is as vast as a mountain, and it was on full display.
However...
"What happened here?"
"Why are there so many dead bodies? And they all seem to be from Yunng City."
They proceeded with extre caution, their horror growing with every step. It was then that they ran into Lan Lili and the other survivors.
"Lili! You're alright! Thank goodness! Tell Dad, what happened?"
Father and daughter embraced, weeping bitterly. Afterward, Lan Ziteng asked his questions. Only after Lan Lili had finished her story did she realize that Lin Tang wasn't a rcenary her father had hired.
"Silly child," Lan Ziteng said, dumbfounded. "An ultimate expert like that wouldn't even give a second glance if I offered him all my wealth. What makes you think I could afford to hire him?"
The rcenaries he had hired were both relieved—they got paid without having to face any real danger—and a little annoyed. What the hell? Read the room, will you? How do you think that makes us feel?
"Wait a minute!" one of the rcenaries suddenly exclaid. "You said this expert had a ring on his head? Like the golden fillet Sun Wukong wears?" He drew a sharp breath. "Could it be him?! Long Tianji... the Heavenly King!!!"
Once they had fled Yunng Marsh and reached an area with a cell signal, they imdiately posted the information on a private intelligence website, which offered rewards for such tips. mbers of the site quickly saw the new intel and began spreading it, their discussions filled with gossip.
"The Heavenly King is going head-to-head with the Feng Family!"
"The Feng Family is an old and powerful clan with deep foundations and many experts. You think they can survive whatever Long Tianji throws at them?"
"Survive my ass! This is a Heavenly King we're talking about!"
Soon, the news reached the ears of Guo Jufeng, Yan Qinghe, and others.
"What? Long Tianji wiped out the entire population of Yunng City?" Yan Qinghe was shaken and filled with a deep sense of unease.
「At Heavenly Person Academy」
Everyone, from the principal, Ji Yongyan, down to the newest students, was in a state of shock that quickly curdled into panic.
"How could he? How dare he! So many people... so many living, breathing people... he slaughtered them all."
"That demon! He's becoming more and more unhinged!"
"Is he going to co for us next...?"
"What are we going to do?"
Ning Yuexi didn't know what kind of place Yunng City was, nor what went on there. Her master had deliberately concealed those details, only rushing to inform her of the urgent news: Long Tianji had gone on a horrifyingly brutal, murderous rampage.
"Yuexi, you must return to the academy at once! If he cos here to wreak havoc, you are the only one who can stop him!"
Ning Yuexi was stunned. She never imagined Long Tianji would slaughter a group of strangers who had no connection to him. Is he venting his anger on the world through killing?! Why would you choose to beco a bloodthirsty demon when you could just be a man? A look of agony crossed her face.
「Elsewhere」
Long Tianji went to Yunng Marsh? That ans he isn't in Jiangbei at all? The Arch-commander was startled, then imdiately overjoyed. Since Long Tianji was away, why should she wait for Ning Yuexi to devise so sche? She could rescue her people now! This was an opportunity not to be missed.
She imdiately set off for the building where the Lesser Commander and the War Elder were being held captive.
No, wait! Could this be a trap? He deliberately caused a huge stir in Yunng Marsh to lure out, and now he's probably already rushed back, just waiting for to walk into his net.
She knew that intelligence reports always had a lag. Plus, that monster could fly. She had only just received the news, giving him more than enough ti to have flown back to Jiangbei.
That cunning bastard! I won't fall for your tricks!
The Arch-commander decisively retreated, completely unaware that Lin Tang was at that very mont heading for the reclusive Gou Family's territory, with no intention of returning to Jiangbei.
He had already paid a visit to the Feng Family's main headquarters. After a round of "friendly exchange," he had, as expected, found many wonderful things in their secret vault. Now that Pandora's Box was open, how could Lin Tang, having tasted such sweet rewards, simply stop?
If I raid the secret vaults of all the reclusive families, will I have enough to break through to the Nascent Soul Stage? Once I'm strong enough, I can save Little Cai and wake up Youling! I just have to keep pushing!
The thought greatly improved his mood. With a pleasant expression, he descended from the sky, landing lightly on a wall overlooking the sprawling Gou Family compound. He swept the area with his Divine Sense.
"Oh?" Lin Tang's face registered surprise as he overheard so incredible secrets from a closed-door eting.
"Who's there?! Who dares to eavesdrop? Show yourself!"
The next mont, the wall of the conference room exploded outward. A figure shot out, cloaked in an overwhelmingly powerful aura, and charged fiercely toward Lin Tang.
A brilliant light flashed as murderous intent soared to the heavens.
