In Alin, all efforts by the high-ranking officials of the Black Palace had proven futile. They could only watch helplessly as monsters from the Underworld rampaged through the human realm. In their desperation, they sought help from other nations.
The other nations were speechless.
Are you kidding us? You're the world's number one superpower! You throw your weight around bullying everyone, and we all have to grit our teeth and take it because we dare not speak out. If even you can't handle this army of monsters, what good could we possibly be?
There were also those, like the Queen of the Sunset Country, who could secretly contact deities. Understanding that their own survival depended on others, she begged the gods to intervene and help eradicate the monsters. Unfortunately, deities like the Eye of Truth feigned ignorance, offering no response.
Alin then sought help from Central Earth, hoping Long Tianji would take action. Central Earth was equally helpless. They explained that during the first Underworld invasion, live broadcasts had clearly shown the Dragon State Preceptor being snatched away by a sky-covering hand. With his fate unknown, how could they possibly help?
In response, the entire nation of Alin could only fall into utter despair.
At the highest peak of the Alas Mountain Range, the wind was biting and the air was thin. The location seed unremarkable, but hidden in the sky above, invisible to mortal eyes, was a transparent barrier. Within this barrier floated a palace. In the very center of the palace lay an enormous, square stone, and plunged into it was a longsword that radiated a precious aura. The lower part of the blade was completely embedded in the rock, while mystical runes flowed across the exposed upper half.
Around this stone stood rows of black-hooded figures, all staring intently at it. Periodically, they would dance and gesture, muttering in strange tones, performing so unknown ritual. Standing at the periter was a circle of normally dressed people, who were as anxious as ants on a hot pan.
"Honored One, isn't it ready yet?" cried Alin's defense chief. "Another city has just fallen, and those damn monsters will soon reach our core territories!"
The leader of the hooded figures had white hair and a benevolent face, which was always wreathed in a mysterious, holy, and noble halo of light. He shook his head, a puzzled look on his face. "By all accounts, with so many people dead, the Sword in the Stone should have absorbed enough souls. For so reason, however, it still hasn't finished charging. I feel that so of the souls have been secretly intercepted by sothing else."
"What? Damn it! Who could be sabotaging us behind the scenes?" the defense chief roared in frustration.
Indeed, other entities, just like the Sword in the Stone, had been absorbing the vast number of souls. Among them were the denizens of the Blessed Lands, wielding Soul Bottle Magic Artifacts. The faith of the living was crucial to the deities, but the souls of the dead were just as nourishing.
When the Underworld monsters broke through and finally reached Alin's core city, the Lord of the Black Palace and the other high-ranking officials stood on the highest floor of the Black Palace, their faces ashen. They could clearly see the beasts' ferocious fangs and claws.
"We're dood! The great Alin is finished! Completely finished!" So clutched their heads and squeezed their eyes shut like ostriches burying their heads in the sand. Others swayed and fainted on the spot. A few, trembling, pulled out handguns and shoved them into their mouths, ready to give themselves a quick end.
anwhile, at the palace atop the Alas Mountain Range, the Sword in the Stone suddenly trembled. HUM! It erupted in a brilliant white light.
"Is this..." The defense chief stared, stunned for a mont before his face lit up with ecstasy.
The benevolent-looking old man smiled and said, "The charging is finally complete. I shall now wield the Sword in the Stone and wipe out all evil heretics!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he grasped the hilt. WHOOSH! He drew the sword out with ease and hurled it into the sky. BOOM!
An imnse, thick beam of white light shot out from the sword's tip. Sword Qi surged for 30,000 miles, its brilliance so intense that it seed to suppress the light of the sun itself. Countless people saw the beam from miles away, even through the thick cloud cover.
A giant monster, over ten ters tall, cocked its head. Hmm? This is interesting. It assud another artillery shell was on its way and teleported high into the air, intending to intercept the object and place it into its Storage Magical Artifact.
But as it reached the upper atmosphere, its pupils contracted. Before it could react, a straight line of light shot through it instantly. The Sword in the Stone was moving at a speed indistinguishable from that of light—it was simply too fast!
As the monster's head tumbled from its shoulders, the Sword in the Stone had already arrived over the Black Palace. With a tremble, it split into countless threads of light that locked onto every rampaging monster, piercing through them with precision.
These monsters possessed formidable regenerative abilities, but the Sword in the Stone had a burning, purifying effect that gave them no chance to heal. In a flash, every last monster was exterminated.
The high-ranking officials of the Black Palace and all the survivors in the city were overco with joy.
"Hahaha, we won! We've won!"
"Thank goodness, we survived! Waaah..."
"I always said this world is fair! If Central Earth has super-powered individuals, we must have an equivalent power too!"
"If only this miraculous sword of light had appeared a little sooner..."
Nations around the world had been watching closely and were now stunned. They never expected such a dramatic turnaround in the battle. One second, they were preparing to mourn for Alin, certain they were dood. The next, Alin had successfully counter-attacked and annihilated all invaders. It just went to show that no one ever knows what will happen until the very last mont.
The Lord of the Black Palace was grinning so wide his face almost twisted, but he was the first to regain his composure. He frantically pulled out his satellite phone to contact the defense chief.
"Quick, keep going! Go destroy the Transmission Array and the spatial tunnel! We have to prevent more of those subterranean monsters from breaking through!"
