In an old urban village filled with gloomy, tightly packed buildings, Liu Changping and Zhang Xinyu were coming ho from the factory after work. One queued to take a bath while the other queued to cook. They lived in a crowded shared rental house with other tenants, but the advantage was that the rent was relatively cheap.
"Hey, Liu, stewing pig's feet to help your wife recover again?"
"She's not pregnant again, is she? A late bloor, huh?" the roommates joked.
Liu Changping scratched his head and smiled sheepishly. "You all know my wife had that strange illness. It wasn't easy to find a Divine Doctor to cure her, so of course, we have to help her recuperate properly."
Recalling Wei Shanhe's banquet, he felt like he was in a dream. The venue was like a celestial palace, and the powerful and wealthy were like Immortals. The contrast with people from the bottom of society like them was just too stark. Then ca the clash of blades between Lin Tang and Yan Renjie, which felt straight out of a movie. It was all too unreal.
Even while taking a bath in the shared bathroom, Zhang Xinyu didn't dare remove the Jade Talisman Lin Tang had given her. She gently touched it.
This thing… According to a coworker who claid to have worked in a jewelry store, its quality ant it was worth at least a hundred thousand. And Lin Tang had just given it to her so casually… If I'm sure I won't face any more danger, I could sell it. That would be worth several years of my blood, sweat, and tears!
Thinking of this, her gratitude for Lin Tang deepened. She was unaware, however, that an old woman was staggering toward her.
It was none other than Granny Qian!
Her expression was grim. As she walked, she carefully sensed her surroundings. Strange, why has the aura on Specin Number Six beco so faint?
She reached the rooftop of the building across from where Zhang Xinyu was renting and stared across the gap.
Granny Qian seethed with anger. "Which beast ddled and destroyed the specin I so painstakingly cultivated?!"
Liu Changping was just putting a piece of pig's foot into Zhang Xinyu's bowl. She smiled and told him to eat more, too. Suddenly, Zhang Xinyu's expression changed. She reached for her neck. The Jade Talisman was growing hot and emitted a faint CRACK.
It had cracked!
"Oh no, there's danger! Quick, call our benefactor!"
「In Lee Encai's room at Villa Number One.」
Seeing her completely defenseless, Lin Tang leaned in and said, "Hey, do you think covering your face will make it as if nothing happened?"
Lee Encai whimpered softly, then mumbled, "I'm just a weak woman who can't resist. If you're going to lose control and act like a beast, there's nothing I can do."
"Heh." Lin Tang reached out and pulled her hands away from her face.
Lee Encai trembled and squeezed her eyes shut, her small nose wrinkling. Her slightly parted lips had a faint, rosy sheen, like an enticing cherry. It made one want to take a bite.
When she felt that Lin Tang hadn't moved closer, she cautiously opened her eyes. Their gazes t at close range. One bed, two people. A strange atmosphere was brewing between them when a cell phone rang abruptly.
Lin Tang answered it. "It's you? Oh? I'm on my way!"
WHOOSH!
He disappeared in an instant. Lee Encai was left stunned. After a long mont, she covered her face again and began rolling around on the bed.
Aaaah! Was I insane just now? I almost puckered my lips on my own! How shaless can I be…
Using Qinggong, Lin Tang's speed was incredible. He moved in a straight line, leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Soon, he arrived at the shared rental house and entered through the balcony with a single leap. He saw several tenants lying unconscious on the floor, but Zhang Xinyu and Liu Changping were gone. The Jade Talisman he had given them was now in fragnts.
Lin Tang's nose twitched. This scent… Granny Qian! What a coincidence. So she was the one who cursed Zhang Xinyu! Did she think I couldn't track her just because she smashed my Jade Talisman?
He picked up the talisman fragnts, injecting True Qi into them, and leaped down from the balcony once again.
「At a fenced-off, unfinished building.」
The area was deserted.
THUD!
Zhang Xinyu and Liu Changping were thrown to the ground like trash. They grunted and ca to their senses. Under the dim moonlight, they saw Granny Qian's emaciated figure and her long fingernails.
"Ah, a ghost!"
THUMP!
Granny Qian stomped on Liu Changping, who imdiately vomited blood. Zhang Xinyu, terrified but furious, trembled as she tugged at her pants leg. "Don't hurt my husband!"
Granny Qian said coldly, "Tell , who lifted the curse from you? What did they look like? What's their na? Did they ntion their background?"
Zhang Xinyu's mouth fell open. Liu Changping's face was contorted in pain, his eyes looking like they would pop out of their sockets, but he still managed to roar, "Don't say anything!!"
"Hmm?" Granny Qian's eyebrow shot up as she increased the pressure.
Liu Changping scread in agony, his voice so heart-wrenching it was hard to hear. But he still stuck to his principles. "Don't! Say! Anything!"
He was just a common worker from the bottom of society—impoverished and unremarkable. He felt he could never repay the kindness Lin Tang had shown him and his wife. But betraying that kindness with malice was sothing he could never do.
Tears stread down Zhang Xinyu's face as she defiantly raised her chin. "If you want to kill us, then do it! We will never betray our benefactor!"
"Ha—" Granny Qian laughed, seething with anger. "re insects…"
"You old bug, so you were here." Lin Tang's voice suddenly erupted, followed by the cold glint of a sword.
SWISH!
"You? It's you again!" Granny Qian frantically dodged, but blood still spurted from a new wound. She glared at Lin Tang, new grievances compounding old hatreds that ran bone-deep. "I'll fight you to the death!"
Granny Qian flew into a rage, and a swarm of insects erupted from her body, launching at Lin Tang like bullets. The insect she had spat from her mouth, which normally commanded the swarm with inaudible sound waves, personally joined the fray. It was the fastest and the most venomous. If it could just break Lin Tang's skin, she was certain its poison would kill him.
Unfortunately for her, Lin Tang gave it no such chance. His swordplay was dazzling, a nigh-impenetrable defense that precisely pierced every single insect. Their tough exoskeletons were a joke before his divine sword. Granny Qian watched the divine sword with dread, cursing wildly in her heart.
"Ah!" She was struck again. She desperately commanded her insects to swarm him, one after another, trying to slow him down.
Then, she was struck again!
And again!
Am I being given death by a thousand cuts?
Terrified, Granny Qian saw another sword strike coming. She constantly moved and dodged, her body wracked with intense pain.
"I surrender! I give up! Why the hell are you still cutting ? You have no martial honor!" she shrieked. "Stop chasing ! If you keep this up, those two worthless mortals will be drained dry by the bug eggs I just planted in them! You have to save them now, or it'll be too late! If you don't believe , turn around and look…"
At her reminder, Lin Tang glanced toward Zhang Xinyu. He saw the shadows of insects wriggling beneath their skin, so areas already severely swollen. They were indeed in mortal danger.
He chased after Granny Qian and landed several more deep cuts before turning back to the unfinished building to save them. Granny Qian seized the opportunity, pushing her potential to its limit and accelerating her escape.
The bug eggs she had hastily implanted were easy to deal with. Lin Tang quickly neutralized them and revived the couple. Intent on eradicating evil to the last, he once more went after Granny Qian.
When he saw her from a distance, she looked like a feeble, flickering fla, tottering unsteadily.
Even if I don't land another blow, her life force is completely extinguished. Her death is certain.
Her profound power was the only thing forcibly keeping her alive. Lin Tang walked toward her step by step, the blood-stained divine sword raised once again.
Too weak to lift her head, Granny Qian had lost all her previous malice. With her claws drawn back, she almost looked like a harmless, benevolent old woman. In contrast, Lin Tang stood over her with his lethal weapon…
"Stop! How dare you attack an unard old woman in the street? Is there no justice? Is there no law?!" A courageous soul stepped forward, boldly blocking his path.
Lin Tang saw it was a fashionably dressed young woman. But even though she was attractive, he paid her no mind and continued toward Granny Qian.
"Hey! I fucking told you to stop! Are you deaf?" The woman was bold, seemingly unafraid of the sword. She waved her handbag and shouted for help.
With her taking the lead, more and more people gathered to prevent Lin Tang's "vicious act." Lin Tang frowned. He glanced at Granny Qian one last ti, certain of her impending demise. Not wanting to waste words on such a flock of sheep, he turned and left.
"Yay!" The crowd wore triumphant smiles. So cheered, while others took the chance to hit on the fashionable young woman who had first stood up, asking for her contact information. The woman ignored them and ran to help Granny Qian to her feet. "Old lady, are you okay?"
Gasping for breath, Granny Qian knew her end was near. "I… I can't die here," she gasped. "I have to get a ssage to my grandson… I…"
Trembling, she pulled out several long, black needles and stabbed them into a few vital acupoints on her body.
"Huh?" The fashionable young woman stared in shock, not understanding what she was doing.
Granny Qian's face took on a zombie-like, bluish-black hue, and her expression beca as stiff as a puppet's. She gave the young woman a creepy smile. "Good child, I need your help."
The next mont, she bit down on the young woman's neck, frantically sucking her blood.
"AHH!"
"Murder!"
"A monster! It's a monster!"
The crowd scattered in a panic. The fashionable young woman's eyes widened in despair, and just like that, she died.
When Granny Qian, using a secret technique to prolong her life, returned to Yan Luoyang's side, they faced each other, both wearing puppet-like, stiff smiles.
"Luoyang, when you take revenge for , you must get rid of that divine sword first. Without it, the little beast will be easy to deal with."
"Okay, Grandmother," Yan Luoyang nodded. Then, he added lightly, "Since you're going to die soon anyway, Grandmother, I might as well put you to good use. Help cultivate the Corpse Heart Technique. I'm just one step away from a breakthrough."
With that, he eagerly thrust his hand forward, piercing Granny Qian's chest.
"Luoyang, you—" Granny Qian's eyes widened in disbelief, never imagining the grandson she had raised by hand would do such a thing to her. She gave a tragic smile, her voice still filled with concern. "The Corpse Heart Technique is the most evil of Evil Skills. If you're too hasty with it, you'll co to a bad end. Luoyang, you must be careful with…"
CRACK!
Yan Luoyang twisted her head, snapping her neck.
"So noisy."
