"This is great! The immortal brother is here to save !" Wu Xinyu cried and laughed at the sa ti.
She desperately pushed the weakened Huang Jifen. "Grandma, hold on! The immortal brother is finally here!"
She then went to pull a little boy and his grandmother, cheering them on.
Her childish voice carried and was heard by people nearby.
"An immortal?"
"Since when were there immortals in this world?"
"If soone really cos to save us, I'd worship them like a god, burn incense, and build a shrine in their honor..."
Everyone's constitution was different. Their tolerance for the poison gas also varied. So fainted the mont the gas touched them. Others were still rolling on the floor, wailing in agony. Many were hallucinating. So giggled foolishly, having forgotten reality and beco imrsed in beautiful dreams of their own making.
Anyone who hadn't fainted and still had a bit of strength struggled to their feet and peered out the window.
"Wow, it really is an immortal! Is that Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad? Or Yuanshi Tianzun? Please, immortal, save us!" so cried with joy.
Others wore expressions of terror. "That's no immortal, it's clearly a demon! It's too terrifying! The demon is coming to eat us, retch..."
They were trapped deep in their hallucinations, unable to break free. Fortunately, there were still so who, like Wu Xinyu, remained lucid. Upon closer inspection, they recognized him.
It was Lin Tang!
"He's not dead?"
"He still has the nerve to show his face? That son of a bitch, he's the reason we're suffering!"
"Now that the man responsible is here, just kill him! Can't you spare and give the antidote?"
"You're the one who deserves to die, Lin Tang!"
Has Lin Tang gone mad? He's lucky to be alive, yet he doesn't even try to hide. He can't possibly think he can actually save these people, can he?
Zhu Yingning was completely puzzled. She still had no idea how much devastation Lin Tang had caused at the Tang Sect's headquarters. She didn't know that he had single-handedly chased down even Tang Dingbo, who fled with his tail between his legs before shalessly dropping to his knees to beg for rcy.
Tang Dingbo, believing Lin Tang was dead for sure, would naturally never reveal his own embarrassing shortcomings to his daughter-in-law. Therefore, Zhu Yingning rely assud that Lin Tang had done *sothing* in the Tang Sect's lair that had offended them, prompting them to kill him before coming to Jiangbei to vent their anger and eradicate everyone connected to him.
At this mont, she didn't even notice the flickering gazes and panicked expressions of Tang Dingbo and the other Tang Sect mbers. So of their calves were already trembling; they had lost their will to fight before the battle had even begun.
Damn it, damn it, damn it! How is he still alive after all that? Can he really fly and tunnel through the earth?! Tang Dingbo roared inwardly, his eyes fixed on the divine sword in Lin Tang's hand, feeling extrely apprehensive.
He fought the urge to turn and flee alone, instead barking, "Lin Tang, you slaughtered my clansn and destroyed my ho! Did you ever think your own friends and family would one day face the sa fate?"
Lin Tang glanced at the building and cleaned his ear with a finger. "Why all the useless talk?"
CLANG!
He drew his sword, ready to charge.
"Wait! Just wait a mont!"
The Tang Sect mbers took several steps back in unison. Tang Dingbo did the sa, as tense as if he were facing a legion of foes.
He spoke hastily, "Don't you want to save your friends and family? Are you so cold-hearted that you'd watch them die? I'm telling you, they've been afflicted with my sect's unique secret poison, which only I in this entire world can cure! You'd better drop your weapon and beg properly. Otherwise, they will all die without a doubt!"
What? This isn't right. What's with their reaction? Especially you, Tang Dingbo! As a mid-stage Master, shouldn't you be able to swat Lin Tang dead like a fly? Why bother saying all this? Huh? Why are you all trembling? What are you afraid of? How strange...
Lin Tang simply shook his head. "Utter nonsense."
With a single thrust, his sword flew toward Tang Dingbo's throat.
Horrified, Tang Dingbo scrambled away with a clumsy roll, barely dodging the strike.
Upstairs, those who were still conscious saw this and grew even angrier, shouting curses. They thought Lin Tang was pathetic, completely indifferent to whether they lived or died.
Tang Dingbo dodged several more tis, displaying the exceptional agility of a mid-stage Master. But he was still grazed, drawing blood. As he continued to evade, he yelled, "I'm not joking, it's the truth! I also had my n rig the building with multiple traps! Once triggered, the entire building will collapse, and they will all be buried alive inside!"
To prove his point, a Tang Sect mber imdiately pressed a button.
BEEP BEEP!
BANG!!
A corner of the building exploded with a thunderous roar, leaving a massive gaping hole.
Lin Tang froze, his brow furrowed tightly. Seeing his reaction, Tang Dingbo was overjoyed and cackled madly. "Now do you see how grave the situation is? Get on your knees and cripple your own martial arts!"
Lin Tang was rendered speechless. "Do you think I'm an idiot? Cripple my own martial arts..."
He was about to disregard everything and end the ss with a single, swift stroke.
Tang Dingbo shuddered and quickly changed his tune. "Fine, fine! I don't want you to kneel, and I don't want you to cripple your arts... Just give that divine sword, or I swear I'll take everyone down with !"
His subordinates continued their work, setting off several more explosions within the building.
Inside, the faces of those still conscious turned green. The few who had taken the antidote felt the injustice most keenly. They started shouting, "I went through hell to get this antidote! Tang Dingbo promised to let go! I was about to get out of here safely! And then you show up, Lin Tang, you cold-blooded jinx, just to screw everything up! You won't be happy until we're all dead, will you!"
??? Why is Tang Dingbo only dodging? Why isn't he fighting back? Is he afraid of Lin Tang? Could it be... that Lin Tang is stronger than him? How is that possible...? Zhu Yingning couldn't believe her eyes.
"I'll give you a final ten seconds! Hand over the divine sword! Otherwise, I'll trigger all the traps! I an what I say!" Tang Dingbo shouted, noticing Lin Tang's hesitation and clinging to a sliver of hope.
"Alright. If you want it that badly, it's yours," Lin Tang said, seeming quite helpless.
With a flick of his wrist, he cleanly tossed the divine sword over.
Tang Dingbo subconsciously caught it. Staring at the rust-streaked blade, he was montarily dumbstruck. He actually compromised! He really gave the divine sword?! Hahaha, what an absolute fool! Now that you've lost your greatest asset, Lin Tang, killing you will be as easy as flipping my hand!
"Die!" he roared, gripping the hilt and lunging back in a counterattack. He brought the blade down on Lin Tang's head with a speed he had never before achieved in his life.
CLANG!
Lin Tang didn't dodge. It seed he never intended to. The blade successfully struck the crown of his head.
Tang Dingbo was ecstatic, certain the indestructible divine sword would cleave Lin Tang in two. The others thought so as well. After all, they had witnessed the sword's power firsthand. It was terrifyingly sharp...
"My God!"
"How can this be?"
"This... is... IMPOSSIBLE!"
But the scene that followed stunned everyone. Lin Tang stood perfectly still. There wasn't a wound on his head, not even a scratch. On the contrary, the divine sword in Tang Dingbo's hand was bent at a ninety-degree angle.
Mouth agape, Tang Dingbo looked from the sword to Lin Tang, his mind going completely blank.
"Are you tickling ?" Lin Tang asked, casually plucking the divine sword from Tang Dingbo's grasp. He then proceeded to bend the blade straight again.
"...Why is your head so hard?" Tang Dingbo asked numbly.
The answer was a horizontal sweep of Lin Tang's sword.
WHOOSH!
A fine line appeared on Tang Dingbo's neck. It widened in an instant as blood sprayed out in a fan. His head tumbled to the ground, the cut as clean as if made with a ruler.
The other Tang Sect mbers were still in a daze as Lin Tang moved among them like a phantom, effortlessly cutting them down. The last man tried to detonate the remaining traps, but he was too late.
As they all fell, Lin Tang walked up to Zhu Yingning and raised his sword to strike.
A jolt of pure terror shot through Zhu Yingning.
THUD!
She dropped to her knees. "From now on, you are my master! I am willing to be your dog! Please, don't kill ..."
She was genuinely, utterly terrified. She never could have imagined Tang Dingbo would die so easily. So, Lin Tang really was stronger than him. No wonder he held the Tang Sect in contempt. No wonder he was so fearless.
I'm so stupid. I'm a complete clown. It's laughable. Zhu Yingning wept. She recalled how, at the very beginning, she had wanted to subjugate Lin Tang and make him call her master. How could she have been so arrogant? The embarrassnt was so intense she wanted to dig a hole and bury herself in it.
Lin Tang glanced impassively at the prominent curve of her rear, accentuated by her posture, then sheathed his sword. "Go dismantle the traps. I'll give them the antidote."
"Yes, Master!"
Zhu Yingning wasn't proficient with traps at all. Dismantling them would be extrely dangerous; a single mistake could blow her to smithereens. But no matter how dangerous the traps were, they were nothing compared to Lin Tang. She had no choice but to obey.
Lin Tang's figure flickered, and he stepped into the building. The few who had taken the antidote scrambled to get out of his way, their eyes filled with the kind of terror reserved for demons. They, too, were shocked that Lin Tang had managed to single-handedly kill Tang Dingbo and his entire group.
"Could the antidote we took be fake?"
"Maybe we're all still poisoned and this is just a hallucination?"
"That's possible..."
"Ah! Lin Tang, I didn't do anything to you! Why are you cutting ?"
Lin Tang ran a finger over the man's new wound, then sniffed the bloodstain. "You've taken the antidote. I need to verify its components so I can formulate a cure for everyone else. Do you have a problem with that?"
"No, no! It's my honor to help everyone. It's just a blood sample, right? Is this enough? If not, you can take so more."
"Good."
"Huh?"
