I stopped in my tracks; Henry did the sa, as did everyone following us. The commander, however, stepped forward, standing next to his crystalline counterpart.
A few bodies lay ahead of us sprawled on the ground, with their crystalline counterparts mirroring them. One corpse had a smashed face, as if that guy had tried to punch his counterpart only to receive a crushing blow in return. Another lay opposite a crystalline figure in the exact sa position, with a hole in his stomach. There weren’t many, but there were more than I had expected there to be.
Especially if these corpses were all clothed casually, not in suits or skirts that I had seen on the others until now.
"Do you recognize these people from your office?" I asked the two guys behind , noticing the mother covering her daughter’s eyes, their mother-daughter counterparts mirroring them.
Birthmark stepped forward, pulling his shabby dress shirt over his mouth as he slowly approached the bodies to take a look. Eventually, he turned around and shook his head.
"I have never seen them before."
I exchanged a glance with Henry.
"You all go around this place; Henry and I will make sure there are no survivors." I turned around, and the commander nodded curtly at before leading the others away.
Good. He understood that he couldn’t co with us because he was in charge of protecting the others with the hamr I lent him.
I bit into my wrist, sucking my blood. Henry grabbed my arm tightly the mont he spotted my move.
"What are you doing?"
I pointed at my ears and continued to suck, feeling my senses sharpening, hearing Henry’s strong heartbeat, of course my own, but also the heartbeats of the others that walked to the side, taking a detour.
"I don’t want to check each corpse, so I will just listen for heartbeats," I said after letting go.
I hadn’t finished saying it when he grabbed my still-bleeding wrist and licked over it, his eyes on .
My heart skipped a beat at the glance he gave , his expression ravenous.
"Are you finished?" I asked him.
"No." He again licked over my bleeding wound provocatively, his tongue redder than before, his lips as well—no matter what he did, adding red to the blue only made him more ravishing, the tickling feeling of his soft tongue not helping stay cool either.
I chuckled and ripped my arm away, licking over the wound that had closed itself while staring at Henry.
You think you can show off in front of without getting payback?
My tongue slid across my wet skin, Henry’s eyes following every movent of mine as if he had been srized.
He didn’t hold out for long before he grabbed my hand and pulled to him; again, he did it as if he were forcing to dance before placing his lips on mine.
I could hear that the group had moved away, and even if they hadn’t, Henry had stepped forward to cover us with his body.
I could taste my own blood on his tongue, and I stared into the intense blue eyes that were still looking into mine before I glanced at the scene of death not far from us, eventually pulling away from the kiss.
"Do you have no conscience?" I motioned at the corpses nearby.
"None." Henry admitted, pecking my lips and nuzzling my neck, his breathing disordered just as mine was.
At least he knows himself.
Henry’s counterpart stayed with us as we three walked forward after I pushed the horny dog away.
I counted seven corpses, and when I stood in the middle of them, I closed my eyes and tilted my head.
It was a good opportunity to train the giant blood’s perks.
No heartbeats besides Henry’s and mine, both of them still accelerated.
Although... I opened my eyes and looked in a direction.
There was a very quiet heartbeat, beating fast.
"There." I pointed in the direction of a man lying on his counterpart, another body, and an additional crystalline figure leaning against them.
Henry went forward to take a look.
"The fast heartbeat? That shouldn’t be human." He pulled the corpses apart, the crystalline figures still mirroring any movents.
The figures seed not to understand that the bodies they were mirroring were already dead and decaying.
Would they lie here until the bodies had completely gone? Isn’t that fucking pitiful?
"Not human." He confird.
I took a look as well, seeing a little dog hidden between the corpses.
"Huh." Didn’t expect to see one here.
It seed to be a little Chihuahua, shaking and trembling, looking at us with fearfully large eyes.
"It looks like a rat." Henry mumbled.
"Well... yeah." No Chihuahua fans present here.
I wanted to reach for the dog, but Henry stopped and lifted it up.
"Maybe the girl can take care of it... if not," Henry started.
"Then it’s a job for the commander." I finished his sentence, and he grinned at with his otherworldly face, the white teeth and the beauty mark only underlining the godliness he emitted, together with the electrifying blue eyes.
"Let’s go to the others." I cleared my throat and turned around to find them.
"You know I can hear your heartbeat. No need to be shy." Henry laughed while following behind .
"Pfft. You’re the one to talk," I chuckled without turning around.
If my heart had just skipped a beat, his had done so twice or thrice after hearing mine.
The fact that my heart skipping made his heart skip would get both of us into cardiac arrest if we weren’t careful; luckily, the giant’s blood would soon lose its magic, and the over-the-top hearing would fade.
Henry’s heartbeat beca irregular again after what I said, and the more I laughed, the more concerning it sounded.
"Bro." I turned back to look at him.
"Are you alright? Should I carry you?"
"Yes. Carry ." Henry held out one arm, the other still holding the dog.

"I can... but why does it look like you want to carry you princess-style?"
"Because I want you to carry that way," he confird, dead serious.
Yeah, no.
I turned around and continued to walk to the others under Henry’s protest.
They weren’t that far away to begin with, and we soon found them. The little girl blurted out a word in her language when she saw the little dog.
"You know him?" I asked her, and she shook her head.
Henry handed the dog over to the mother, who took him in confusion, her crystalline counterpart adding a crystalline dog to her hands.
"We should take a break. Mrs. Suri needs rest and water." The commander reminded, looking at .
"Fine by . Let’s walk a few more minutes and take a break then." Let’s get a bit farther away from the corpses first.
We still had ti until tomorrow, though we had to pick up a few more people because in my vision I had seen over 30 survivors standing by our side.
I didn’t plan to sleep or to let anyone sleep, so we could afford a few breaks.
As for my crystalline counterpart, I was hoping he would show up soon to be our compass—hopefully he wasn’t just dumbly lying beside Kenny2’s corpse, mirroring him instead of coming to ; if not, I had to use the coin or ask the other figures for the way.
But no matter what, even if I have to leave everyone behind, tomorrow I will be at the place the portal will open, even if I have to teleport there alone.
