"Ding."
"Task release: Set up a stall in Sichuan Province continuously for five days and sell at least 10 portions of Sichuan cuisine."
"Task reward: Sichuan cuisine recipes (already issued, recipe and mory will be revoked if the task fails.)"
"Special task: Set up a stall in Sichuan Province continuously for five days and sell at least 100 portions of Sichuan cuisine."
"Task reward: Mapo Tofu recipe (Golden Legend) (the reward has been issued in advance as the host has already mastered the soul of Sichuan Cuisine, failure of the task will not result in revocation)."
Upon waking up, Wang Fan couldn’t help but smile when he saw the latest task update. Indeed, opportunities are for those who are prepared; the practice and summary over the past few days have not been in vain, and now he possesses a dish of Golden Legend level.
Today’s goal for both of them is to reach the summit of Mount Ei.
Mount Ei covers an area of 154 square kiloters, with its main summit, the Golden Summit, having the highest peak, Wannafodong Peak, at an altitude of 3099 ters.
The hiking route on Mount Ei is extrely long, and the official calculation says the entire journey is 60 kiloters. Even those who often exercise by climbing mountains require over 8 hours to reach the summit, while ordinary people need over a dozen hours.
The cultural heritage here is very rich, with various religious sects taking root and growing here, but Wang Fan felt that people his age knew about this place entirely because of the monkeys.
Sichuan is famous for two kinds of monkeys: the Sichuan golden monkey and the Mount Ei Tibetan macaque. The one nad Ruirui at Red Mountain Forest Park earlier is a Sichuan golden monkey.
This kind of monkey not only has attractive golden fur but also has a very good temperant, definitely at a level where it’s loved by everyone, but whenever a Sichuan golden monkey is praised, a Mount Ei Tibetan macaque is bound to be criticized.
These monkeys naturally have a bad temper and are fearless, and because people have been feeding them for years, they’ve ford the notion that humans should feed them. Eventually, they stopped waiting to be fed and directly rifled through bags to grab food. In the past, during the worst incidents, one even pushed a female tourist off a cliff, killing her. It then pursued her down the cliff to continue tearing at her, until snipers were brought in to shoot the monkey king.
Listening to Zhuo Qianqian’s explanation, Wang Fan hesitated: "Then shall we not go up Mount Ei? The way you put it, it sounds quite dangerous."
Zhuo Qianqian said: "Because these monkeys caused too much trouble, there’s now control over them here. Patrolling staff use clay pellet slingshots to drive them away, preventing them from having the opportunity to snatch tourists’ belongings."
"Little Mount Ei, piece of cake."
"Even the highest mountains have paths for guests to tread, the thousand-foot Mount Ei is mine to climb."
"Today, let’s take it easy and summit in just eight hours. If we climb too quickly, I’m afraid it would be too discouraging to others."
At the foot of Mount Ei, many people were already warming up, their faces radiating confident smiles, as if with just a slight effort they’d be invincible.
Wang Fan had climbed Mount Tai before and seen those who boasted at the foot of Mount Tai. He wondered if Mount Ei could cure this problem of boasting.
Many people actually don’t like climbing. They prefer to take the cable car up to see the scenery directly, but there are always so who can appreciate the joy of climbing.
The winding mountain paths, dense forests, and clear streams on both sides are beautiful, but once you start climbing, there is little mood to enjoy the scenery.
So people climb purely to enjoy that physical and ntal exhaustion, clearing their minds of idle thoughts as they climb, leaving only the winding mountain path before them, offering a rare opportunity to empty their minds and release so of life’s and work’s pressures.
This is one of the reasons more and more young people are starting to enjoy outdoor sports.
Wang Fan and Zhuo Qianqian had no pressure and no worries. Apart from the scenery along Mount Ei, what they were more looking forward to was seeing those boasting at the foot of the mountain ultimately fall sowhere. It was sowhat of a guilty pleasure but really interesting.
Along the steps upward, after just a few kiloters, they saw so people sitting on the steps in a daze, leaning against the railing, staring blankly ahead with unfocused eyes, their spirits apparently having left for so ti.
Wang Fan took out a small package from his backpack, which contained sothing white and round, sowhat like glutinous rice balls, and extended his hand next to the guy whose soul seed to be wandering: "Hey bro, have a bite to rejuvenate."
The guy, wearing glasses, chanically lifted his head upon hearing soone speak to him and, equally chanically, took the item Wang Fan handed him, murmuring "Thank you."
Chen Mo had never imagined that he would ascend Mount Ei heroically, only to be exhausted to the point of blanking out after less than five kiloters.
His rapid breathing only stabilized after resting for 10 minutes, but looking at the distant Golden Summit still caused him dizziness.
His eyes were a blank white, wishing he could just sit there.
Suddenly, a voice sounded in his ear, seemingly handing him sothing. His stalled brain didn’t have ti to think as his hand reached out to take it.
He ripped open the small package, not caring what it was, and put it in his mouth.
"Huh?"
A sweet and fragrant taste spread from his mouth, offering a hint of clarity to his delayed brain, making him unable to resist chewing.
He could feel the thing in his mouth was round, and as his teeth bit down, it was chewy and springy, very interesting, with rich rice fragrance mixed with a little refreshing bamboo leaf scent, a taste that brightened his eyes.
With each bite, he seed to feel the little ball bouncing in his mouth, as his teeth pierced through the outer layer, releasing a rich, aty aroma.
