The second the words were out, Zheng Haodong regretted it. But he could not stop his feelings.
Xia Ning stopped and looked back at Zheng Haodong. She was a bit shocked. “Brother Zheng, don’t tell me you like me.”
Zheng Haodong’s heart skipped a beat. He looked at Xia Ning and felt uneasy, but more hopeful.
Xia Ning laughed out loud and tried to cover her mouth. “You two are funny.”
Zheng Haodong did not follow. “What?”

Xia Ning took back her gaze and looked to the front. She said with a light smile, “Since Brother Zheng asked, I have to answer. Yes, but that was a long time ago.”
“First love?” Zheng Haodong’s eyes glowed.
Xia Ning shook her head. “Not really.”
“Huh?” Zheng Haodong looked at Xia Ning with confusion.
Xia Ning smiled slightly. “I liked a guy when I was little. In some sense, that was my first love. But I was too young and did not know what exactly love was. When we grew older, we grew apart.”
Zheng Haodong nodded and asked tentatively, “So why did you break up with the person you liked later?”
“Maybe because I was not reconciled.” Xia Ning stopped her steps suddenly and looked to the front. Some emotion was running out of her eyes.
“And?” Zheng Haodong looked at her with confusion.
Xia Ning’s lips curled and said calmly, “You liking someone does not mean that he has to like you back. No one can ask too much of the other. If you definitely can’t get it, it is better to let it go. Likewise, if it’s something you don’t want, it’s better to cut it off sooner than later.”
Zheng Haodong looked at Xia Ning surprisingly. Why did she have this kind of idea? People’s feelings couldn’t be this rational. Not to mention that she was a girl!
