After he said this, the atmosphere over dinner turned heavy temporarily.
Xia Ning’s hand froze. She withdrew slowly as she looked at Enoch’s innocent little face, but could not find anything to say at the moment.
While children took for granted that one good turn deserved another, it was sometimes hard for adults.
Or maybe he took for granted that his parents must love each other deeply, so things like adding food were basic.

“Grandma…” Enoch looked at Gao Wanhua. It was obvious that he would not stop until he could understand the matter.
Gao Wanhua smiled. She touched Enoch’s head and said, “Dear, because Mummy needs love like Enoch. Of course, she needs your love more, Enoch.”
Enoch instantly understood it. He used his chopsticks to add some food for Xia Ning with his shaky hand and smiled at her sweetly, “Mummy, eat.”
Seeing the food in her bowl and Enoch’s smiling face, Xia Ning felt slightly bitter. Why was he so considerate even to the degree that caused her heartache?
Her son did not need to be too smart or too empathetic. As long as he could be happy, she would be more than satisfied.
Sometimes she was grateful for Qiao Yu, for they had educated him well. Even if Enoch stayed with her years ago, perhaps she could not do better than them.
While Qiao Yu was about to take some food, a pair of chopsticks suddenly approached to put a piece of meat in his bowl.
He raised his head to meet her clear eyes in a slight daze.
Enoch’s tender voice came, “Grandma, Mummy has added food for Daddy. Mummy loves Daddy, too.”
On hearing this, Xia Ning looked uneasy momentarily. She bent her head on instinct to continue eating.
Qiao Yu was looking at the woman opposite who bent her head with his eyes filled with gentleness.

After dinner, Xia Ning acpanied Enoch to watch TV. Qiao Yu went to work in the study on the third floor.
When it was time to go to bed, Gao Wanhua said that she would sleep with Enoch. Enoch agreed without any hesitation, for he often slept with Gao Wanhua and enjoyed a great relationship with his grandma.
After Gao Wanhua took Enoch to bed, Xia Ning sat in the living room watching TV alone.
It was too early for her to sleep.
However, there were all animated cartoons on TV. She looked at the screen but paid no attention.

At about 10 pm, Xia Ning turned off the TV and went upstairs.
As soon as she stepped on the staircase, she saw Qiao Yu standing in the corridor on the second floor. Xia Ning paused to nod at him and continued going upstairs.
After stepping on the top of the staircase, Xia Ning walked straight towards the guestroom.
“I have moved all your things to the main bedroom.” Qiao Yu’s voice suddenly came behind her.
Xia Ning’s expression changed as she paused to turn around. She did not know when he had already approached her back.
She frowned slightly, “Is it not good?”
Qiao Yu looked at her face with his eyes slightly darkening, “Are you unwilling?”
Was she unwilling to be with him? But he did not dare to utter this question because of his fear of rejection.
