The ward was in a mess. Gao Lihua was sobbing on the sofa and the floor was covered by broken pieces, leaving hardly any blank spot for people to walk on.
Shen Donglai nodded at Qiao Yu as the latter walked in. “Thank you for ing. I know you must be very busy. Do sit down.”
Looking at Shen Donglai, Qiao Yu said in an indifferent voice. “That won’t be necessary. I’m only here to pass on a greeting from my mother. Since Mr. Shen is doing fine, I’ll be on my way.” After that, she turned to Gao Lihua, who was still weeping. “Aunt, my mom says to please take care of yourself and that you don’t need to promise if you don’t want to.”
He made it clear that he would never have e here if it weren’t for his mother. Since Gao Wanhua and Gao Lihua were sisters, her mother had to show the latter some consideration. At the same time, Gao Wanhua was also telling Gao Lihua that no matter what the latter decided to do with Shen Donglai, the Qiao family would be on her side.
Gao Lihua was moved. It was only yesterday that she had thrown a tantrum at her sister’s house, but her sister had just sent Qiao Yu over to support her. That is what families are for.

“Yu, your aunt told me that Xia Ning is your girlfriend now.” Shen Donglai said all of a sudden. “Are you two getting married?”
Gao Lihua frowned at those words and asked Qiao Yu, “Yu, what’s going on between you and that Xia Ning?”
Darting a glance at the couple, Qiao Yu said indifferently, “I’m off.” He then rose to his feet.
“No, you’re not. As your aunt, I won’t allow you to marry Xia Ning!” Gao Lihua jumped to her feet and bellowed. “Can’t you tell she’s trying to take everything away from the Shen family? She wants us dead!”
Shen Tianlang’s face darkened and he tried to warn his mother. “Mom, that’s not for you to say.” He then glanced at Qiao Yu and saw the grim look on the latter’s face. He could tell that his cousin was going to lose his temper.
Wiping away her tears, Gao Lihua yelled at Shen Tianlang. “Is that how you talk to your mother?! I said all those things for you! There will be nothing left for you if Xia Ning gets what she wants! Your dad has slept with so many women. Who knows how many bastard brothers you’ve had by now? Stop speaking for other people and get the Shen Group under control! I can’t believe I have to hear that from my son!”
“Gao Lihua, watch your mouth!” Embarrassed, Shen Donglai snapped at Gao Lihua.
Gao Lihua sneered at Shen Donglai. “What? You’re going to deny it now? Yu is family and you don’t have to hide it from him. Plus, your sh*t is all over the frontpages now. Watch what you’re doing before asking me to watch my mouth!”
“You…” Shen Donglai glared at Gao Lihua, too angry to utter a word.
Ignoring Shen Donglai, Gao Lihua turned back to Qiao Yu. “Yu, you and your cousin are great friends. Do you want to see him lose everything? And that Xia Ning is no angel. She’s only marrying you for your money and she’s turning you against the Shen family too. Don’t let her fool you! You have to break up with her!”
Gao Lihua recalled how arrogant Xia Ning was and believed that it was all because of Qiao Yu’s support. That was why she wanted to break up the couple. That way, Xia Ning would lose her support and would no longer be a threat to the Shen family.
Shen Tianlang warned his mother. “Mom, stop it!” She was getting more and more ridiculous.
“Don’t talk to me like that…” Gao Lihua protested.
Qiao Yu turned to Gao Lihua all of a sudden and his eyes glinted coldly. His voice was colder. “Who the hell do you think you are?”
