Xia Ning’s hand that was holding the spoon paused for a second. She looked at Qiao Yu across her and there was some gloominess in his dark eyes. He was obviously concerned about something. She darted a look at the clothes on him and obviously understood why he asked that.
“Yes,” Xia Ning answered and sipped some congee.
Qiao Yu frowned a little and his chest felt a bit stuffy.
Reasonably, when they were divorced, whoever she was with had nothing to do with him. It was him who had agreed to the divorce without hesitation. It was because who had wronged her back then and ignored her.
But thinking about her spending time with a man here, he felt a bit unfortable.
Seeing Qiao Yu’s frown, Xia Ning’s eyes moved a little. She said quietly, “Do you care?”
Qiao Yu looked up at Xia Ning’s calm face and frowned a little. He lowered his head and said calmly, “It’s all in the past.”
No matter how much he cared about it, it would not change anything. It was better to treasure the things in front of him.
Hearing this, Xia Ning had the urge to laugh. Doesn’t that mean he cares? When did he start to get jealous?
“A man lived here before, but that man was my father.”
Qiao Yu’s pupils contracted. He looked up at Xia Ning in disbelief. Did he hear it wrong?
Seeing Qiao Yu’s surprised look, Xia Ning chuckled. “This is my home from before. I lived here with my parents when I was little. Later, my father passed away but this place remained the same as before. All his things are here too. You are wearing his clothes.”
Qiao Yu took a look at his clothes and the feeling of seeing that wardrobe in that room this morning came to his mind.
On the left side of the cupboard was men’s clothes and on the right were all women’s. The women’s clothes were about Xia Ning’s same size. Thinking that she used to be with some guy here, being lovey-dovey and doing everything they could do, he had the urge to burn them all down.
Realizing that he had been throwing a tantrum for the entire morning, he felt somewhat ridiculous.
“So, the pink room you slept in last night was your childhood bedroom?” Qiao Yu could not help but ask. When he woke up this morning, he saw the pink room and his scalp was almost numb. It took him a while to get used to it.
He remembered that Xia Ning used to like the princess-pink color, but it changed later.
There was some emotion in Xia Ning’s eyes. It was quick and no one could catch it. She looked at Qiao Yu and smiled slightly. “Can’t I? You look like you don’t like it.”
“How e? When we have a daughter next time, I will decorate her room with pink.” Qiao Yu looked at Xia Ning, his black eyes shining.
Daughter? Xia Ning frowned a little. She said calmly, “Let nature take its course.” She lowered her head and took a sip of the congee.
“Sure.” Qiao Yu nodded and looked at Xia Ning with soft eyes. He worked so hard and did not take any measures. It was only a matter of time before she got pregnant.
But there was one thing that he paid more attention to. He vaguely remembered meeting her when they were young. She and her mother were living in the alley and could not even eat three meals a day. So how could they live in such a big house?
He looked at Xia Ning who was still drinking congee across him and asked suddenly, “Back then, why did you and Mom leave here?”
