Xiao Xiao looked at her pale face, held her hand under the table, and quietly asked, "What’s wrong? Stomach hurting again? How about we leave early?"
An Ran shook her head. "I’m fine, you guys keep playing. I’ll just take a nap on the sofa after we finish eating."
Xiao Xiao nodded but added worriedly, "Call if you feel uncomfortable."
"Nagging, Xiao Xiao, you could really be my mom," An Ran joked.
"I care about you more than your mom does."
Seeing An Ran still joking around, Xiao Xiao felt relieved. By this ti, everyone had almost finished eating. The waiter cleared the table and brought in so fruit, and opened the karaoke, making the whole room lively again.
An Ran sat in a corner of the sofa, watching everyone else play around when suddenly it got dark in front of her, and a strong fragrance wafted over.
Guo Xinyi sat next to An Ran, arms crossed, looking at her with disdain.
This look was all too familiar to An Ran. Ever since she returned to the An Family in the city at fifteen, she often saw this look.
That look of contempt and ridicule was so real that it made her feel utterly inferior wherever she went.
Because she knew she owed the An Family. Even if they looked down on her, she had to be grateful.
But now, facing Guo Xinyi’s look, An Ran felt nothing but disgust. Why should she be looked at this way?
An Ran returned the disdainful look and calmly said, "What’s up?"
Guo Xinyi was imdiately infuriated by An Ran’s eyes and tone. "An Ran, I’m warning you, no matter what tricks you used to seduce Lu Yi, you’d better stay away from him. An Ran looked at Guo Xinyi as if she were an idiot. "Which eye of yours saw trying to seduce Lu Yi? If my status is unworthy of Lu Yi, do you think you’re worthy?"
An Ran finally understood why Guo Xinyi was acting so crazy today; it was because of Lu Yi. She felt pretty innocent to be dragged into this.
"Of course I’m worthy. In all of Nan’an City, only the Gu Family is a match for the Lu Family, so An Ran, you’d better know your place. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you can’t stay in Nan’an City," Guo Xinyi said viciously.
An Ran knew that given Guo Xinyi’s family status in Nan’an, she could definitely make good on her threats. She had co to Nan’an for university and wanted to avoid unnecessary trouble, so she said honestly, "There’s nothing between and the class monitor, you’re overthinking it."
"Nothing? Nothing, and he’d personally pick you up? Do you think I’m blind or stupid?" Guo Xinyi’s face was red with anger, her voice shaking.
An Ran found this argunt pointless, so she just covered her stomach, closed her eyes, and leaned back on the sofa, saying, "That’s the truth, believe it or not."
There was nothing she could do if Guo Xinyi didn’t believe her, right?
"Then keep yourself in check and don’t let catch any dirt on you," Guo Xinyi glared at An Ran, seeing her indifferent attitude, then walked away to join the crowd, leaving a final, vicious warning.
