When the car arrived at the Mu Family’s old house, the servants were already waiting at the door. When they saw the car stop, soone imdiately ran into the house to report.
Xiao Xiao got out of the car and looked at the guards in uniform at the door. She asked softly, "Ranran, who are the people in Instructor Mu’s family? Why are there sentry guards?"
"Instructor Mu’s grandfather and Brother Yang’s grandfather are both founding fathers of the country. The state places great emphasis on their security. You haven’t been to Brother Yang’s house. There are ard guards at his door," An Ran stuck out her tongue, though speaking seriously, there was a hint of playfulness.
"Ard?" Xiao Xiao glanced at Lin Junyang behind her. She rembered hearing An Ran say that Lin Junyang’s father was the Imperial Military Region Commander. Only at this mont did she feel the difference in their statuses.
Seeing Lin Junyang’s gaze sweep over, Xiao Xiao quickly retracted her gaze, standing sowhat timidly behind An Ran, carefully following her into the courtyard.
Lin Junyang looked at the girl’s deanor and felt a strange sensation in his heart. He found this kind of Xiao Xiao extrely jarring. Wasn’t she fearless? Where had her montum gone when she confronted him?
Unconsciously, he stepped forward, his hands tightened at his sides. Just as he was about to lose control and place a hand on the girl’s shoulder, an elderly yet gentle voice ca through.
"Ranran, you’re back! Co here, let Grandma have a look at you."
"Grandma, why did you co out?" An Ran saw Grandma Mu and quickly ran over to greet her. Beside Grandma Mu were He Yushu and Mu Wanxin.
An Ran politely greeted, "Grandma, Aunt He, Big Sister, hello to you all."
"Good, good," Grandma Mu held An Ran’s small hand, gently stroking her long hair, and looked her up and down, "Not bad, you’ve gained a little weight. That rascal hasn’t been bullying you lately, has he?"
"Grandma, Xingfeng treats very well," An Ran replied, a blush spreading across her face.
When she had left earlier, their relationship had been like fire and water, even on the verge of divorce. Now coming back, her relationship with Mu Xingfeng had made a qualitative leap. Seeing the Mu Family again, she felt a little guilty.
Grandma Mu was delighted to see An Ran’s shy deanor. Having gained experience, she could tell that the girl had changed since the last ti she ntioned her grandson. It seed that the two had gotten along well in the past few months.
No need to say much about her grandson either. Even if she hadn’t seen Mu Xingfeng in person, she knew the girl’s importance in her grandson’s heart. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have insisted on holding an engagent ceremony before Wanxin’s wedding.
"Alright, let’s talk inside. You must be tired from the journey. And this must be your classmate?" He Yushu asked as she saw Xiao Xiao. An Ran had previously told the Mu Family she would bring a classmate over to play.
"Not tired at all, Aunt He. This is Xiao Xiao, my best friend," An Ran said as she turned and pulled Xiao Xiao over, introducing her, "This is Grandma, Aunt He, Big Sister."
Xiao Xiao never expected An Ran to get along so well with the Mu Family. She had been to An Family a few tis and rembered how Mom An had always treated her with sarcasm, looking down on her as a child from a single-parent family, and An Sijia didn’t even bother to hide her disdain.
Now, seeing He Yushu take the initiative to talk to her, Xiao Xiao felt trendously flattered, "Hello, Grandma, hello, Aunt He, Big Sister, you are really beautiful. Is it true happiness brings a glowing look?"
