"Brother~" Shen Qi called out, tears rolling down like beads from a broken necklace. "Brother, why do you have to treat this way?"
She couldn’t understand why her brother, who always showered her with love and supported her, suddenly acted this way. She still rembered the mont her brother took her to school to receive her admission letter from Nan’an University, lifting her up and spinning her around with joy like a child.
He had said his sister had great potential, that she would beco a doctor. He even encouraged her to study hard and find a boyfriend who was a dical student, so they could both beco doctors and share common interests, not end up like him, a semi-illiterate.
Now, she had found a boyfriend studying dicine, so why was her brother treating her like this?
"Bin, since you brought him here, just accept him as your brother-in-law. I think he’s fine—white and tender, looks like he’s destined for a life of comfort," Er Gui said as he approached, stroking his shiny bald head, speaking to the person at the door.
"Er Gui, this is not your business. If I don’t guide my sister properly, she might forget she even has a brother," Shen Bin spoke to Shen Qi, "Didn’t you want space and respect? If you think he’s good, then go with him. But expecting , Shen Bin, to acknowledge him? I don’t think much of him."
As he spoke, Shen Bin sent a subtle signal towards the door, unseen by Er Gui.
Zhu Pengfei, although unsure why Shen Bin treated him this way, had been watching him closely. When he saw Er Gui at the door, noting his robust build, he caught Shen Bin’s signal. Suddenly, Shen Bin’s attitude started to make so sense.
However, Shen Qi, overwheld with sadness, kept her head down and missed Shen Bin’s cues.
Zhu Pengfei pretended to wrinkle his brow in anger. "Brother, I call you brother out of respect for Shen Qi. I, Zhu Pengfei, am an upright man and don’t need your approval. Since you don’t like , I won’t stay here to bother you."
With that, he pulled Shen Qi, "Qiqi, let’s go. In the future, I’ll take care of you."
Shen Qi was even more heartbroken by Zhu Pengfei’s words, unwilling to leave. She cried, "Brother, I’m begging you, don’t be like this, okay?"
"Enough, both of you co in. What’s with all the shouting outside?" Suddenly, a low, cold voice ca from the house. The voice was chilling, like the cold wind of December, freezing people to their bones.
A hint of despair flashed in Shen Bin’s eyes, but he didn’t dare disobey the voice from inside. He stepped aside, "Co in, handle your own affairs. As for recognizing this man as my brother-in-law, that’s impossible."
"Bin, you really need to change that bad temper of yours. Look at how you’re making our sister feel; her eyes are all red from crying."
Shen Qi saw her brother step aside to let her in, but when she saw Er Gui behind Shen Bin, along with his disgusting gaze, she couldn’t bring herself to walk forward.
Inside, soone was sitting in a shadowy corner. Under the dim light, although she couldn’t see the person clearly, she could feel a sharp pair of eyes on her like a predator eyeing its prey.
