After Selene and Calista had taken baths, massaging their bodies with hot towels, one of the girls on the ship brought them fresh clothes, and they retired to bed.

"You think the girls are doing alright?" Calista asked.

"Of course they are. Why would you ask that?" Selene retorted.

"I’m just a little worried about them. We crossed... Sorry, we’re crossing the sea with two people who are badly injured and another unconscious. What if they got worse while we were in the boat?"

"It’s going to be alright, Calista. We’re all going to be alright. For now, let us rest, get our strength back, and in the morning, we’ll see them. They promised they would take care of them, so let them help."

Calista smiled slightly, shifted on the bed, which was a little larger than a daybed, and turned her back to Selene. "Good night," she said, and Selene replied with a hum.

They woke up the next morning feeling a little groggy and heavy. There was a fresh set of clothes on a chair next to the door. They changed and went out to et everyone else.

On the deck, Nolan’s girls were already working, there walking about, cleaning up the ship, drying up the water from the rain.

"Good morning, sir, how do you do?" Selene greeted them as soon as they saw Nolan.

"Girls! Good morning, I’m alright, I’m very fine. I hope you both slept well. "

Selene smiled back. "Thank you so much again. Could we see the girls? I want to make sure they’re ok."

"Sure, why not? They’re in the best condition they could be, even considering the ordeal they’d just passed through."

Both Selene and Calista sent each other sideways glances and smiled at him.

"Lori, please co here," he called, and one of the girls aboard ran to where they stood. She had short hair, and just like all the other girls on the ship, her eyes were foggy.

"Sir?" She answered.

"How was yesterday’s treatnt? The girls are doing alright, I presu?"

"The three young ladies are fine now, my lord." Her voice was a little chanical.

"Please lead the way," Nolan said, and the girl accepted with a curt bow.

They went to another part of the ship, which looked like an infirmary, and they entered. Larissa was awake, but still lying down, looking aimlessly in front of her. While the two others hadn’t woken up.

"Larissa?" Calista called softly, "How are you?" She began to go near her, "You literally fainted on us out there yesterday."

Larissa turned her head towards them, and her features turned dark. She began to thrash in her bed, wailing and shaking violently like she’d seen a monster.

"In the na of the gods, what is wrong with her?" Selene shouted over the noise, fear, and frustration rising within her.

"Why don’t we leave her for now, let the girls see what they can do," Nolan shouted over the noise.

Nolan hurried them out of the room and up the deck.

Selene pushed his hand away as soon as they reached. "I swear upon everything I have, if you’ve done anything to my sisters, I will make sure you regret it."

Nolan put his hand up in surrender, "I did nothing to them, I give you my word."

"So why was she acting so crazy then?" Calista chid.

"I have no answer to any of that, my dear girls, but I promise you, I’ll find the root cause of the issue and solve it as quickly as I can," Nolan tried to assure them.

Selene breathed heavily. Everything inside began to ache now. Her head, her eyes, her heart. They could never catch a break. It was always one problem after another since they’d entered those ships.

"Selene," Calista said softly and touched her arm, "look at , please."

Selene reluctantly turned towards Calista. She’d been trying to hold it all in, act as strong as she could because the girls needed her, but now, she couldn’t. Tears slipped down and splattered on Calista’s hands.

"It’s ok," Calista said. "Everything’s going to be fine. You heard the man." Calista smiled, a big, radiant smile that eclipsed the sun. Then she turned towards Nolan, "Could we have sothing to eat? I’m famished."

"Of course, of course, but I would suggest that you eat it in your lodging. You might get sick here. The boat rocks quite a lot."

Calista smiled and dragged Selene along with her back to their room they shared. She sat and crossed her legs while she watched Selene stand, still looking dazed and a little troubled.

"None of this makes any sense," Selene said abruptly.

"It doesn’t," Calista said. "Did you notice how the girls acted? A little too perfect if you ask ."

"Exactly," Selene lowered her voice. "And their eyes, did you have a good look at the eyes? It looked so foggy, like they were distant, outside their bodies. I don’t trust this man at all."

Lori entered with a tray of food and fruits, placed it on a truck, bowed, and left.

They both eyed the food suspiciously. Calista’s stomach rumbled at the sight of food, and they broke out laughing.

Selene was the first to eat from the tray. She picked up an apple and bit into it. Then Calista followed, gulping down two eggs and then so bread.

"You might choke," Selene said, laughing, "take it easy, the food isn’t running."

"I’m just so hungry. We haven’t had a proper al since we left those bloody ships, and even while we were on them, we hardly ate much."

Selene laughed and picked up a grape, then so eggs as well.

"Just think about the sll makes want to vomit," Calista said as she continued to stuff food into her mouth.

"And yet here you are, munching down the whole tray that there might be nothing left for ." Selene pointed towards the tray, and there were two cups of what seed to be so juice, and a serving of rice.

"I’m so sorry." Calista taped her forehead, "Please go ahead, eat."

"Why, thank you." Selene chuckled.
