In this brief mont, Li Yu closed the distance to the two n ahead at a speed almost imperceptible to the naked eye.

This full-power burst of speed caught even Li Yu off guard, let alone his opponents.

The imnse force sent one of the n flying backward, the chest piece of his Armor caving inward. Seizing the montum, Li Yu twisted his body, grabbed the man's head, and swung him around to act as a human shield against the incoming hail of bullets.

"Number Seven... Number Seven, what are you doing?!"

"Ah... Captain!"

A shrill, bloodcurdling scream echoed through their communication channel.

"Number Six! Number Seven!"

The Captain's frantic calls were t with dead silence.

"Sorry..."

Li Yu whispered into the side of the helt. He thrust the muscles of his back, unleashing a massive surge of power that instantly snapped the man's neck. With a sickening crack, the severed head went spinning through the air.

anwhile, the surrounding gray smoke finally began to dissipate. The nearby scenery gradually beca clearer; though everything beyond a ter remained a blur, visibility was vastly improved.

Another squad wearing grayish-white Armor was not far from Li Yu. Reacting quickly, they raised their Submachine Guns and unleashed a desperate, relentless torrent of bullets.

Li Yu continued to use his hostage as a at shield. The thick, heavy Armor perfectly concealed his entire fra.

The distance between them was closing rapidly. Li Yu's eyes flashed as he prepared to repeat his previous tactic, but he was startled when the opponent suddenly charged straight at him.

"Die!" the man roared, though Li Yu couldn't hear him through the helt's sound dampening.

Several black grenades tumbled from his hands. He actually intended to take Li Yu down with him in a suicidal blast.

'Damn it!'

With the grenades re inches away, Li Yu had no choice but to pull the corpse back against himself. He spun around rapidly, curling into a tight ball, using both his own back and the corpse as a double-layered buffer to absorb the explosion.

Boom!

A fierce blast detonated, sending searing flas and tal shrapnel flying in every direction. These were clearly no ordinary grenades; the blazing crimson fire burned at an incredibly high temperature.

The explosion instantly ripped through the chest piece of the grenade-throwing soldier closest to the epicenter. His helt split open, leaving him completely unrecognizable in a mangled ss of flesh and blood. His facial features lted away, reduced to nothing but charred carbon.

The violent Shockwave blasted away the corpse Li Yu was using as a shield, sending him flying backward along with it.

It felt like colliding with a speeding freight train. An agonizing wave of pain radiated from his back, the impact far more devastating than anything he had endured before.

Crash!

He smashed into a distant Garbage Pile. As the flas gradually died down, a dead silence fell over the debris. Not a single sound could be heard.

Thanks to the explosive fire, the nearby smoke thinned out even further, making it possible to faintly make out the silhouettes within.

"Captain, Number Three and Number Four are dead. We've also lost contact with Number Six and Number Seven."

Two blurry figures in gray Armor stepped forward. One of them was noticeably more imposing; not only did the gun in his hand gleam with an eerie light, but his right arm was heavily augnted with a massive Exoskeleton chanical Arm.

It was clearly a specially equipped silver alloy gauntlet, its ferocious and nacing design alone enough to strike terror into anyone's heart.

A heavy silence fell over the communication channel. The Captain never imagined that a simple extermination mission would result in such catastrophic losses.

Of the Phantom Squad's Vulture Squad, only the two of them remained.

"God damn it..." He paused mid-sentence, unsure of who to even curse.

Curse the target? The target was already dead. Curse his superiors? He wouldn't dare. He certainly couldn't curse himself.

"Go check the target's corpse. I'll explain the situation to the Commander when we get back." The mont he finished raising that death flag, a blinding flash of muzzle fire erupted from the motionless Garbage Pile.

Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!

A cacophony of tallic clinks and clangs rang out as bullets struck their Armor, instantly cutting off all chatter in the channel.

"He's not dead!" the Captain roared in fury. The two n imdiately scrambled for cover; even with their heavy Armor, there was no reason to stand there like idiots and absorb bullets.

Gripping a Submachine Gun, Li Yu stepped out of the Garbage Pile one deliberate pace at a ti, the muzzle flash illuminating his cold, expressionless face.

His ribs were covered in scorch marks, with so of the flesh already carbonized. His injuries were clearly severe, yet as seconds ticked by, the charred skin and dead tissue began to slough off.

Fresh skin was healing over the wounds, and new muscle tissue was slowly regenerating right before their eyes. It was a shocking spectacle.

Beneath the Captain's helt, his smart analysis equipnt scanned this exact scene, sending a massive jolt of disbelief through his mind.

"A Genetic Warrior?! There was absolutely no ntion of this in the intel! Isn't this guy supposed to be just a lowly Scavenger?"

His pupils constricted in alarm as he urgently activated his communication equipnt and transmitted a distress ssage.

"Operation Shotgun has failed. Target One is suspected to be a Genetic Warrior. The intel is flawed. Third Fatty can no longer be trusted!"

His imdiate realization was that he had been played, fed a pack of lies by Third Fatty.

"Captain! Run!"

The desperate scream over the channel snapped him back to reality. Number Two had already charged forward, wielding a Submachine Gun in one hand and a grenade in the other, desperately trying to buy the Captain so ti to escape.

"Don't!" the Captain bellowed, but it was too late.

Li Yu instantly dove into a roll across the ground, his eyes icy and detached. The sa trick wouldn't work on a Saint Seiya twice.

At so point, a Rebar Spear had materialized in his grip. Forged by twisting two steel bars together into a shaft as thick as two thumbs, its tip was terrifyingly sharp.

Out here in the wasteland without proper firearms, his marksmanship with a gun might have been subpar. But after spending a year learning from Old Lu, his accuracy with a thrown spear within a ten-ter radius was absolutely flawless!

The muscles in his arm bulged savagely, tearing open the newly regenerated pink flesh around his ribs. Blood began to ooze out as he unleashed every ounce of his current strength, completely unaware of just how terrifyingly powerful he had beco.

Whoosh!

The Rebar Spear launched from his hand. In the blink of an eye, it impaled the armored soldier right through the throat. The sheer kinetic montum launched the man several ters through the air, sending him crashing into the dirt not far from the Captain.

Blood fountained into the air as his Corporeal Form convulsed wildly. His hand went slack, and several live grenades rolled out of his grasp.

The Captain's pupils shrank to pinpricks. Cursing under his breath, he spun around and sprinted for his life. At that exact mont, a brilliant flash of fire expanded rapidly, detonating with a deafening, earth-shattering roar.

Waves of fire and an imnse Shockwave radiated violently outward, kicking up a hurricane of dust and smoke. The entire area was instantly engulfed in a sea of flas.

The Captain was blown off his feet, but the structural integrity of his Armor was clearly superior. It held together without cracking, and despite being slamd into the ground, he scrambled back to his feet with incredible speed.

Leveling his gun at Li Yu in the distance, he could feel a palpable, overwhelming sense of mortal danger radiating from the man.

"Die!!"

He gritted his teeth, but just as his finger was about to squeeze the trigger...

Li Yu suddenly ducked low, dropping his center of gravity into his legs. He swayed his body from side to side, moving with the ethereal, erratic lightness of a phantom as he rapidly closed the gap.

The Captain adjusted his aim and opened fire, tracking Li Yu's movents. However, Li Yu's montum remained entirely unimpeded. In less than three seconds, the distance between them had shrunk to less than a ter.

"Not a single hit?! How is that possible!"

He was the elite of the elite, having distinguished himself through the most grueling training regins imaginable. Even if his current equipnt wasn't top-tier, there was no way his shots should have missed their mark so completely.

Just as that thought crossed his mind, his eyes fell upon the blood slowly trickling down Li Yu's body, revealing dozens of bullets completely embedded into his dense muscle tissue.

Not a single shot had missed!
