"Is that really a person?"
"Obviously."
"This is the first ti I've ever seen soone this filthy," Frieren muttered.
Fern imdiately shot her a stern look.
The elf girl silently looked away and shrank her neck.
Shane asured the situation with his eyes. Sein was stuck right in the middle of the tree crown, sprawled out in every direction. It would probably be difficult to get him down with [Floating Magic].
In that case, there was only one option.
"Go, Stark."
Stark looked helpless. "Don't just casually treat people like pack animals..."
Of course, the boy was only grumbling.
In the end, he still sighed, took a running start, and shot up the tree.
After pulling Sein out from between the branches, Stark hoisted him over his shoulder, braced himself against the trunk, and prepared to jump down.
Just then...
Crack.
"Ah."
Stark lowered his head and looked at the hand he had placed against the trunk.
A small green snake had left two clear puncture wounds on his wrist before darting into the leaves and vanishing.
Stark looked at the three people below the tree, blinked, and said, "I got bitten by a snake."
The mont he finished speaking, he and Sein smoothly toppled down together.
!!!
The three people below the tree were stunned.
Fortunately, Frieren and Fern reacted quickly. The two mages instantly cast [Floating Magic], at least giving the two of them so cushioning before they hit the ground.
Shane looked at Stark, who had suddenly turned blue, with horror all over his face.
What kind of snake was that? How was it that poisonous?
"Lady Frieren, can you treat this?"
"[Analyze Poison Type] is priest magic. I'm not good at that. I've never seen this poisoning reaction before. It looks rather serious. The antidotes I have on hand probably won't work either. It would be better to find a professional priest."
A professional priest.
Shane glanced at Sein, who was still unconscious on the ground, and quietly drew his longsword...
Sothing like electric shock wake-up service really was a last resort.
Bzzzt.
Sein slowly woke up.
He sat up groggily, holding his head as he tried to steady himself.
Then he saw Stark lying beside him, looking like a blue-black zombie.
"Isn't this the boy who just saved ? Uh... he got bitten by a venomous snake, huh. Good thing it's only late-stage poisoning. He's not dead yet."
As he spoke, Sein placed his hand on Stark's shoulder.
A green light enveloped the boy's body. In just a short while, Stark's complexion returned to normal.
Frieren was a little surprised.
"The poisoning reaction disappeared. You're an excellent priest."
Hearing Frieren's praise, Sein raised his head, froze slightly, then stared at her face and thought for a while. "You're that legendary mage, Frieren. You really do look exactly like the statue."
As he spoke, he reached out to Frieren and greeted her in a friendly manner. "Hello, my na is Sein. I'm a priest from a nearby village."
Frieren glanced at Sein's hand.
Because he had just been pulled out of a swamp, Sein was covered in mud from head to toe. It had already begun to dry and harden slightly, and when he raised his hand, two bits of dried mud even flaked off and fell.
Frieren very visibly took a step back.
"Lady Frieren..." Fern reminded her quietly from the side, sowhat embarrassed.
Sein himself did not mind and simply withdrew his hand.
"Although your adventurer companion has been successfully detoxified, it will probably take so ti for him to wake up. My village is just ahead. I can provide you with a place to rest, as repaynt for saving earlier."
While saying this, Sein bent slightly and specifically thanked Shane.
Shane nodded.
After traveling for so long, they did happen to need a rest.
Under Sein's guidance, the group arrived at the village at the foot of the mountain.
As soon as they entered the village, Stark floating in midair attracted the attention of many children.
There was no helping it. Stark's battle-axe was too heavy. Between the person and the axe, Shane could only carry one.
At the village entrance.
In front of the Goddess's monastery.
Sein took the initiative to introduce everyone to his older brother, the priest.
After exchanging simple greetings with everyone, the priest looked at Sein, who was covered in mud from head to toe, with worry on his face. "How did you end up like this..."
Sein casually shook off the dried mud on his body. "I just accidentally stepped into a swamp."
"A swamp? A swamp appeared over by the forest?"
"Now that you ntion it, I find it strange too. I've never seen one there before..."
The priest's brow furrowed tightly.
"Then we need to inform everyone about this as soon as possible."
"All right. I'll change clothes and go find the village chief."
With that, Sein smiled and waved at everyone before turning and entering the house.
The priest looked at his back and sighed.
"Thank you for saving my brother."
"As for your companion, he was treated in ti, so he should be fine now. He will probably wake up around dinner."
Only then did everyone completely relax.
Just as they were about to leave, the priest called out to them.
"Wait a mont."
"Does your party... need a [Priest]? Would you be willing to recruit my brother as a companion?"
Once the priest said that, Shane and Frieren looked at each other.
They did need one.
Especially Shane. He knew very well what Sein was capable of.
From the way he had saved Stark just now, it was clear that he was also experienced in handling ergencies.
He was obviously soone worth inviting.
"My brother has dread of becoming an adventurer since he was a child. More than once, he said he wanted to beco a legendary priest known throughout the world, just like Archbishop Heiter."
"But when his childhood friend invited him to go adventuring together, he refused in order to stay and keep company. At the ti, he smiled and said that as long as he was with his older brother, that was enough, and that adventure didn't matter at all... But over the past ten years, he has beco less and less happy."
"Although he never says it, I know he regrets this dull life."
"He is more talented than I am. He shouldn't spend his entire life trapped in this rural church. I hope you can give him a chance to reclaim his dream."
The priest's words were extrely sincere, filled with concern for his younger brother.
But after listening, Frieren seed a little hesitant.
During dinner, Shane asked her what was wrong.
"The priest has the golden holy seal granted by Holy City, Strahl hanging around his neck. That proves his status as the most outstanding priest in this region. Yet he says Sein has more talent as a priest than he does. That ans Sein may be extraordinarily gifted. Of course, we've seen that for ourselves."
"So inviting him to serve as the party's priest should be more than enough. But..." Frieren sighed. "I don't think Sein will accept our invitation."
Shane fell silent.
That would be a real sha.
As the two of them ate, they silently thought over everything the priest had said about Sein.
When Shane picked up the salt for the third ti and sprinkled it over Frieren's steak...
Fern finally could not take it anymore.
The girl pressed her hand down on the little bottle of salt.
