Run frantically.

That was the unspoken understanding everyone had developed over the course of their past adventures.

Frieren bounced on Shane's shoulder with every movent he made, narrowly and dangerously avoiding the pursuit of the black mist.

At the sa ti, she was observing the demon mage.

Bloodstained God of War, Rivale's deputy?

Plague Mage, Vega?

She did not think she had heard of him.

But judging by the way he still looked so confident even after recognizing her, he was clearly no weakling.

Frieren did not underestimate him. She carefully watched his movents, trying to figure out his attack patterns and the weaknesses of his magic.

Seeing that his mist attack had been dodged, Vega did not show much surprise. He imdiately controlled the mist and pulled it back around himself, wrapping himself inside a massive sphere of black fog.

The giant sphere of black mist rolled forward, chasing after the running Shane and Stark.

In the air, Fern and Sein watched the accelerating black sphere anxiously.

"Mr. Sein, is there any way to stop it?"

Hanging in midair, Sein barely managed to pull out the Scripture and opened it to the Chapter of the Great Fire of Condemnation. Imdiately, light burst from the pages, and three golden blades of light shot out from the book.

It was a common offensive spell used by priests, Goddess's Three Spears.

The blades of light traced three beautiful arcs through the air and shot toward the black sphere on the ground.

Hiss—

The attacks sank into the black sphere like stones vanishing into the sea, failing to stir even the slightest ripple.

"This... looks like I can't aim at him..."

Hearing that, Fern frowned.

The enemy was hidden inside the black mist, making him impossible to target. That ant they could not land an accurate attack at all.

Because it had been attacked from the air, several arrows ford from black mist shot out from the sphere and counterattacked the two of them.

The two barely managed to dodge. After stabilizing himself, Sein's voice was filled with worry. "This can't go on. Your mana will be exhausted very soon."

On the ground, realizing that Fern had been attacked, Shane decisively changed his strategy. "Stark, split up."

The young warrior obediently carried the wounded boy and swiftly turned left.

Shane turned right in perfect coordination.

The black mist paused for a mont, then decisively chased after the side where Frieren was.

Seeing this, Fern quickly flew toward Stark with Sein. The wounded boy had already lost too much blood. After being tossed around like this, there was no telling whether his life could still be saved. She had to get the priest over to him.

At the sa ti, her gaze swept toward the direction the black mist had gone, and a faint worry rose in her heart.

'Please don't get hurt...'

Seeing the black mist chasing after him and Frieren, Shane breathed a sigh of relief.

"Shane, this distance is enough."

Hearing Frieren's reminder, Shane imdiately slamd on the brakes.

After landing, Frieren held her staff straight out and imdiately released a fully charged Offensive Magic. A thick pillar of light shot out, instantly engulfing the entire black sphere.

The black sphere was struck and imdiately drowned in dazzling light.

A mont later, the dust stirred up by the magic scattered. The black sphere had vanished, leaving only a semicircular black shield standing in place.

Plague Mage, Vega, was hiding behind the shield and had not been hit.

The black shield scattered back into mist. Imdiately afterward, it transford into several huge black flying swords and shot toward Frieren and Shane.

Whoosh—

Frieren's Defensive Magic activated, successfully blocking the flying swords.

However, the instant the flying swords made contact with the Magic Shield, they scattered into mist and cunningly wrapped around Frieren behind it.

Shane scooped Frieren up in one motion and activated Shadow Kill, rushing to the side.

Bang, bang, bang—

The flying swords chased after Shane and slamd into the ground, then turned into mist upon impact, instantly killing the flowers and grass wherever they landed.

A trace of caution entered Frieren's voice. "There is sothing strange about that mist."

Shane nodded.

He had noticed it too. The other party was probably a mage who specialized in that particular mist.

"Hahaha, you noticed?"

The short demon mage took a step forward and rather proudly waved the bone staff in his hand. The black mist spiraled around him, wrapping him inside it.

"I love magic."

"Just like that Sage of Corruption, Qual, who spent most of his life developing Killing Magic, I too spent my long life researching a magic of my own."

"Isn't it fascinating? I nad it Plague Mist."

"No matter how powerful a warrior may be, or how sharp-witted a mage may be, as long as they touch this Plague Mist, they will instantly be infected with a curse and suffer indescribable agony. That agony will flow through their entire body with their blood, tornting them until they go mad."

"You saw that boy's miserable state, didn't you? He was rather tenacious. To think he actually dared to sever his own arm to resist the spread of the Plague and attempt to save himself."

As he spoke, the demon mage controlled the spiraling mist at his side and transford it into a smooth steel wire. The tip of the wire pointed straight at Shane and Frieren.

"Learn from his example. When I attack you in a mont, I will pierce straight through your heads. This ti, I won't give you any chance to escape."

Shane smiled.

He had to admit, villains talking too much was honestly kind of adorable sotis.

If the other party had not kept rambling on, he and Frieren might not have been able to gather enough information to counterattack in such a short ti.

Now, everything was fine. The enemy had directly exposed himself.

It really saved them a lot of trouble.

He had even explained his next attack thod outright. His honesty was almost heartbreaking.

[Demons are creatures who cannot help but flaunt their strength.]

That was the lesson Flam had taught Frieren, and it was also what Frieren had taught him.

"Sure enough, demons really do have sothing wrong with their brains."

Vega: "..."

"Are you a man of your word?"

Faced with Shane's sudden mockery, the short demon mage's smug expression abruptly froze. "At death's door, and you still want to run your mouth?"

As he spoke, the black mist condensed into a steel-wire-like form and stabbed fiercely toward Shane's head.

Seeing this, Shane breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as he kept his word.

He shielded Frieren behind him, gripped the longsword in his hand tightly, and neither dodged nor avoided it, calmly accepting the attack.

Bang—

With a loud crash, the steel wire struck the exact center of Shane's forehead, sending sparks flying. Imdiately afterward, the steel wire scraped past Shane's forehead and, for so inexplicable reason, pierced into a large tree off to the side.

Not a single wound was left on Shane's forehead.

The Attribute [Iron Head] and the longsword's Attribute [Deflection Field] allowed him to perfectly avoid the attack without taking any damage.

However, at the exact sa mont he was attacked, blood suddenly sprayed from the forehead of Plague Mage, Vega, opposite him.

Imdiately afterward, that short figure collapsed to the ground and began twisting in agony.

The Attribute [Return to Sender] activated.

The attack of Plague Mist was returned one hundred percent.
