"Ten years ago, in the Southern Lands, in Gostan City. . Powerful mage. Burg!"
The blond young man pointed at himself, helping Shane rember.
Shane's brows twisted together before he finally dug up a fragnt of mory from deep in his mind.
Wasn't this that loudmouthed blond young master from back then?
Good.
Even after ten years, he was still just as loud.
The blond young master looked Shane up and down before fixing his gaze on Shane's face, confusion flashing in his eyes.
"I rember we were about the sa age ten years ago. So why do you look exactly the sa after all this ti..."
As he spoke, he brushed aside his bangs.
From Shane's angle, he could clearly see that the blond young master's hairline had already started retreating. It was looking dangerously close to disaster.
anwhile, Shane still looked exactly as he had ten years ago.
Just like the young master said, nothing had changed. He still looked like an eighteen or nineteen-year-old boy.
Even Shane himself didn't fully understand why.
Fern and Frieren thought he was simply the type who aged slowly by nature. Stark and Sein believed it was because Shane lived a disciplined lifestyle and kept himself in good condition.
But Shane suspected it wasn't that simple...
"But forget your appearance. Why are you still dressed almost exactly the sa too?"
The blond young master stroked his chin and clicked his tongue.
"Look at you. You're still using one of those ordinary standard longswords. These days, the cool thing is the 'Hero's Sword.'"
"And what is this? You don't even have basic armor? Just plain linen clothes? Looks like these ten years haven't been treating you very well."
The blond young master continued his nonstop comntary.
"And where are your teammates? Did Frieren kick you out of the party? Are you taking commissions alone now? Man, that's just sad..." (T/N: PLZ don't stop xD I want to laugh more XD)
As he spoke, he removed the money pouch from his waist and stuffed it directly into Shane's hands without even checking it.
"Don't worry, bro. I'm an amazing First-Class Mage now. I'll definitely help you out. Take these gold coins first. If it's not enough, I'll have my butler bring more."
Then he casually hooked an arm around Shane's shoulder and whispered into his ear.
"So? Want to introduce you to so powerful mages? Don't worry, they definitely won't kick you out of the party."
This entire barrage of chatter completely stunned Lord Orden beside them.
The serious Lord Orden had probably never encountered soone this overly familiar and talkative before.
And when he saw the blond young master practically hanging all over Shane, his expression visibly darkened.
But just as he was about to speak, Shane raised a hand to stop him.
Even with the blond young master draping himself over his shoulders, Shane didn't get angry.
Smiling, he weighed the money pouch in his hand.
Heavy.
He didn't refuse it and calmly slipped it into his pocket.
More travel funds. Little Fern would definitely be happy counting money again later.
And honestly, Shane really was interested in the part about introducing mages.
After all, entering the Northern Plateau required a First-Class Mage accompanying you. The next First-Class Mage exam was still two years away, so directly hiring one would definitely be more convenient.
"So, how many First-Class Mages can you introduce to?"
The mont those words ca out, the noisy blond young master awkwardly withdrew his arm.
"Uh... that's a little difficult. I'm not very close with the other First-Class Mages."
Seeing Shane's disappointnt, the young master hurriedly tried to recover.
"I only beca first-class this year. And unlike those normal people who have to take exams to rank up, I'm a Specially Appointed First-Class Mage. I'm really strong."
Huh?
Shane looked confused.
He had heard of specially appointed actors before, but specially appointed mages?
Seeing Shane's confusion, the blond young master proudly lifted his chin.
"My old man donated a huge batch of supplies to the Continental Magic Association. And he promised that for the next thirty years, half the expenses for the Association's campaigns against demons in the Northern Plateau will be sponsored by my family."
"The Continental Magic Association thinks I'm talented and capable, so they promoted through a special exception. That's way more impressive than ordinary First-Class Mages."
I see.
Shane nodded.
So his money-powered abilities were the truly impressive part.
Once the blond young master started talking about his current status, he beca even more unstoppable.
"You have no idea how busy being a First-Class Mage is. One day I'm protecting so village, the next I'm exterminating demons sowhere else. I'm running around nonstop. Seriously, those demons attacking villages are all terrifying. Good thing I'm amazing, otherwise..."
The blond young master pursed his lips and shook his head dramatically.
"And now I've got another mission. I'm heading to the Graf Granat Domain to oversee the Second-Class Mage Exam. Busy, busy~"
"A mage who... bought his way into the position can oversee exams too?"
"Can't be helped. They're all busy investigating the history of so Sage lately, so they're short on manpower. That's why they sent ."
As he spoke, the blond young master patted his coat confidently.
"Don't worry. As long as I stand still, no magic can defeat ."
Shane had been too busy talking earlier to notice it, but now he finally saw a very familiar attribute on the young master's body.
[Immovable as a Mountain (Blue/Rare)]: While remaining perfectly still, gain invincible resistance and ignore all magic damage. While moving, resistance becos zero. (T/N: noo noo noooo, don't say… and he then…)
This...
Wasn't this the one he sold to the Adventurers' Guild before...?
Back then, he heard it had been purchased by so noble young master.
Who would've thought it was actually this blond young master?
As they spoke, the transportation of war supplies had already been completed.
Lord Orden had quietly left long ago while the two chatted enthusiastically.
The blond young master looked at the sky with visible reluctance.
"Sigh, I need to hurry to the exam site. Who knows when we'll et again."
As he spoke, he dug through his pocket for a while before pulling out a small glass bottle and handing it to Shane.
"Here. The Magic Association gave this golem before departure. They said it can save your life in ergencies. I don't need it, so you can have it."
Shane looked at the glass bottle in his hand.
Inside was a tiny curled-up clay doll.
He was slightly shocked.
If he rembered correctly, this was the life-saving golem distributed to all examinees during the later First-Class Mage Exam.
It had absurdly high resistance, could block attacks, cast priest healing magic, and even possessed incredible movent speed.
Its only weakness was limited magical energy, making it a one-ti-use item.
Did this fool from a rich family even realize how valuable this thing was?
"That adventure with you and Frieren back then was the first adventure of my life. Later, my old man sent off to a magic academy for several years. Whenever I got frustrated there, I'd think back to you guys..."
The blond young master's noisy voice suddenly beca quieter.
"Back then... I really wish I could've kept traveling with you all."
For a mont, Shane didn't know what to say.
Thankfully, the blond young master's sentintal mood lasted less than a second before he imdiately returned to being annoying.
"But seriously, you've fallen way too hard. Sigh, my beautiful mories are ruined now."
Right.
Shane clicked his tongue.
This guy was just an idiot.
The blond young master climbed onto the carriage and waved at Shane with a goofy grin.
The carriage wheels began turning.
At that mont, Shane suddenly rembered the pitiful examiner from the original story who had been sliced in half and instantly killed by Ubel's magic during the exam...
"Burg. Your magic robe is powerful, but if you encounter soone skilled in cutting magic, you'll probably be at a disadvantage. During the exam, it'd be better not to wear it yourself and stand there as a target."
"Huh? How did you know I was planning to wear this and act as the exam target... Hey, keep your voice down. Don't leak exam questions."
Shane was speechless.
So he really had guessed correctly.
"You're a First-Class Mage. Doesn't standing there as a punching bag hurt your image?"
"Just put the robe on a scarecrow. If the examinees can't even beat a scarecrow, what qualifications do they have to fight you?"
Burg's eyes imdiately lit up after hearing Shane's suggestion.
"You're right. I need to act like a proper First-Class Mage."
"Then I'll do it your way!"
Shane quietly let out a sigh of relief.
This guy was careless and loud, but aside from showing off too much and having zero filter, he didn't really have any major flaws.
Hopefully that reminder would save his life...
Right.
Didn't Burg ntion earlier that the entire Continental Magic Association was investigating the history of Sages?
Was Ehre's grandfather really working that hard...?
