Now reading: Chapter 20: Whose Young Master Is This? from Frieren: Attribute Hero, a Action novel by hardworker.

After the scare, the two of them waited in the tailor shop for a long ti.

Only after confirming there were no more sounds upstairs did they finally relax.

"Since we don't have anywhere to stay anyway, let's just make do here and sneak out at dawn."

"Mm." Frieren nodded, then carefully looked Shane over. She stroked her chin, thought for a mont, and asked in a low voice, "So… are you a priest now?"

?

Shane blinked in confusion.

"From what I saw earlier, you used the magic that old Beryl analyzed—[Goddess's Barrier], right? We were right in front of them, and they still didn't notice us. That spell is really amazing."

"As far as I know, Goddess magic can only be used by priests who carry a Scripture. So does that an you've changed classes and beco a priest? Or… maybe a warrior monk?"

Hearing her words, Shane didn't know how to explain it for a mont.

The Scripture had already collapsed after Extracting its attributes. In truth, he could still use Goddess magic without holding it.

But that wasn't the main issue.

The real problem was that he himself didn't know what class he belonged to anymore.

If he said he was a warrior, his physical stats weren't high enough. If he said he was a mage, that felt forced. And if he said he was a priest—he absolutely refused that.

Priests had to stay single for life.

Even if soone begged him to take that role, he would absolutely, absolutely, absolutely refuse.

After thinking for a while, a word suddenly popped into his mind.

"I'm going with a multiclass build."

"Hm?"

The elf girl tilted her head in confusion.

Shane raised an eyebrow at her, putting on a mysterious expression that seed to say everything without saying anything.

They didn't chat for long before Frieren started nodding off.

Shane watched the little white-haired head bobbing up and down, smiled, reached out, and gently adjusted her posture so she could lean against his shoulder.

At dawn, a thin mist draped the city like gauze, and the air still carried a hint of the night's chill.

The streets were slowly waking up.

Cargo wagons rolled past one after another, their wheels leaving faint muddy tracks on the road. A long line had already ford outside the bakery, the scent of freshly baked bread drifting through the air. Won stood with baskets hooked over their arms, copper coins in hand, exchanging cheerful morning greetings.

Shane, with dark circles under his eyes, dragged along a swaying Frieren as he walked through the crowd.

Last night had been like a nightmare.

He knew Frieren had terrible sleeping habits, but he hadn't expected them to be this terrible.

He hadn't slept at all, constantly on guard against "assassination."

One mont she'd change positions, the next she'd change again—either slapping him or kicking him outright.

Sigh.

This was nothing like the "wonderful night sleeping beside a white-haired twin-tailed elf beauty" he had imagined!

He needed to find an inn imdiately. He couldn't take this anymore!

At the entrance of the Norm Inn.

After confirming the na on the sign, Shane walked straight to the counter and took out a letter from his clothes.

It had been given to them by the rchant uncle yesterday when they couldn't enter the city. He had promised that the free lodging offer would remain valid—by presenting the letter, they could stay at any Norm Inn in nearby towns.

Shane wasn't about to waste such a free opportunity.

"Good morning, ma'am. Please take a look at this letter and prepare two rooms for . Thank you."

Behind the counter, the innkeeper—who had been checking the account book—looked up. The mont she saw Shane, her eyes lit up and a bright smile spread across her face.

"Good morning, young sir."

She leaned forward to take the letter from his hand. As she did, her ample chest pressed heavily against the counter.

For a mont, Shane felt like the counter had dipped under the weight.

"Yes, this is Lord Norm's seal." She quickly scanned the letter, handed it back, and continued, "Two rooms, correct? No problem. Please follow ."

As she led the way, the innkeeper kept glancing back at Shane, growing more pleased each ti.

It gave him goosebumps.

When he woke up again, it was already noon.

The inn only provided simple als—bread, juice, and the like. Shane found the bread too hard and wanted sothing better.

Back when he had no money, he could make do. But now he had over twenty silver coins—he was a rich man. He could afford to be picky.

Besides, the most important thing when arriving sowhere new was tasting the local cuisine.

After asking the innkeeper for recomndations, Shane and Frieren headed to a restaurant called Pink Bubbles. It was said that their dessert, Frosted Strawberries, was the most popular in all of Gostan City.

The mont Frieren heard that, she was imdiately interested.

The restaurant was packed, and it took Shane quite a while to find a corner seat.

Under the waiter's guidance, they quickly placed their orders. Shane kept it simple—two signature dishes. Frieren kept it even simpler—one of every dessert.

"Hey, one of everything? Can you even finish that?"

Frieren chuckled mischievously and gave a reason Shane couldn't argue with.

"I can eat them from noon until night."

Should I say I expected nothing less from you?

While they were waiting for the food, a commotion suddenly broke out in the restaurant.

Shane looked up. At a table near the entrance sat three people dressed like adventurers.

They were glaring angrily at a blond boy in front of them, slamming the table loudly.

With the noise all around, Shane could only catch fragnts:

Sothing about how without a warrior, no one could hold the front line… sothing about how an adventuring party without a priest was nonsense…

Clearly, it was a disagreent over forming a team.

That was common enough.

Shane had encountered it before. After all, teamwork depended heavily on compatibility.

What puzzled him was why it had escalated so badly in public.

"I've already said it—no warriors, no priests."

"Only mages are qualified to join , Brug, in exploring the dungeon."

The boy being confronted looked about seventeen or eighteen, with short blond hair and a frivolous attitude.

As soon as he said that, everyone in the restaurant turned to look.

One of the three adventurers, provoked by his words, even drew his weapon, only to be restrained by the others.

Shane frowned. Why did he sound like so pampered young master?

He looked more closely—and then it clicked.

He really was one.

Behind the blond boy stood an old butler in a tailcoat and bow tie. Beside the butler were two beautiful, notably busty maids.

The refined butler reached into his coat, took out three silver coins, and handed them to the adventurers.

"Thank you for coming to the interview, but unfortunately, you are not the type of companions my young master prefers. Please accept this as compensation and leave."

Seeing the gleaming silver coins, the three n exchanged glances. Their anger subsided sowhat, and they eventually took the money and left.

With the conflict resolved, the butler raised his left hand to his chest and spoke in a low voice.

"Young Master Brug, I must remind you—the dungeon known as the Inverted Land is a high-level instance. Many adventuring parties have entered and never returned. The city hall issued a ban this morning, temporarily halting all exploration."

"Even if you find companions, you won't be able to go."
