Shane humd a tune as he walked at the front of the group.
He had originally thought this trip into the dungeon would end with empty hands, but unexpectedly, the harvest was quite plentiful.
In another corridor, they had discovered a large number of discarded or damaged pieces of equipnt left behind by adventurers, along with so magical tools that had already lost their function.
As expected of a dead-end path filled with traps—any adventuring party that chose this route had suffered miserably, one worse than the next.
[Gray Attributes]
[White Attributes]
[Green Attributes]
...
"All mine, all mine."
He stacked every magical item he could find that carried attributes and piled them onto his back. Even with the bonus from [Weight Reduction (Green/Uncommon)], the towering stack still pushed him to his carrying limit!
At the very least, there were dozens of attributes!
If not for the fact that overusing his ntal strength would make him faint on the spot, he would have fused all these attributes right then and there!
"And what are you planning to do with all that junk?"
The blond young master followed behind Shane, staring at the heap of scrap tal on his back with clear disdain.
"You call yourself an adventurer, yet you can't even recognize value! This trash isn't worth anything. Even if you carry it back, you can only sell it as scrap at the blacksmith."
Shane paid no attention to his words.
It might not be worth anything now—but once he mixed and fused a few attributes, it would be worth a fortune.
The one who doesn't recognize value is you.
Roar—
Suddenly, a loud and piercing roar echoed from straight ahead.
A monster!
Having just stepped out of the dungeon entrance, Shane reacted instantly. He threw everything he was carrying back into the tunnel and drew his sword in one swift motion.
"It's a Three-Headed Lizard. Our commotion below must have attracted it," Frieren said.
The Three-Headed Lizard was a monster that originally gathered in the upper ruins of the Ancient Dragon Temple.
Ever since the dungeon had been cleared, they had almost disappeared—but there were always a few stragglers.
This type of monster had three heads filled with sharp fangs. While it looked like a lizard, its body was even larger than a dragon's. These creatures preferred to gather in places with draconic ruins—perhaps out of reverence for dragons, or because they carried a trace of dragon blood themselves.
The worst part was that to defeat it, all three heads had to be cut off at the sa ti. Otherwise, they would regenerate endlessly, making it impossible to kill.
After hearing Frieren's explanation, the blond young master looked confident.
"Cutting off three heads at once? That's nothing for ."
Frieren glanced at him, stroked her chin thoughtfully, then said, "Alright. You'll initiate the attack. Go ahead."
Encouraged by Frieren's approval, Burg's fighting spirit surged.
Without a mont of hesitation, he raised his staff, activated Flight Magic, and charged straight toward the Three-Headed Lizard—going face-to-face with it.
Even Shane was stunned by this move.
A mage... fighting in close combat?
The fact that you've lived this long really is a miracle.
Seeing Burg already rush in, Frieren calmly said, "Alright, now I have a good idea."
"What idea?"
"You use the lightning sword to paralyze it. I'll take care of destroying all three heads at once."
"No problem."
"Good. Let's begin. Finish it as quickly as possible."
Frieren summoned her staff, ready to act.
Wait… isn't that just normal coordination? Shane frowned and asked, "Then what was the 'good idea' you ntioned earlier?"
Without turning her head, Frieren replied, "We strike while the young master draws its attention."
???
So that's just… using him as bait…
Shane turned his head and glanced at the blond young master, who was already face-to-face with the monster.
Casting spells while flying made it difficult to maintain accuracy—it required long-term practice. And clearly, the young master hadn't trained properly. At this mont, he was being battered around by the monster's three heads, unable to find a good angle to attack.
He could barely maintain his balance, spending most of his ti dodging in a rather miserable state.
But just as Frieren had planned—
The monster's attention was completely focused on the buzzing young kid in the air, completely ignoring Shane at its feet and Frieren behind it.
How should one put it? While it was a bit of dark humor for Burg, it was truly a brilliant tactic.
Crackle.
Shane activated [Sprint (Blue/Rare)] and dashed behind the monster. Raising his sword, he brought it down with a burst of thunder and lightning onto the monster's hind leg.
Buzz—buzz—
The familiar sound of electricity rang out.
The paralysis effect of [Electrocution (Blue/Rare)] activated. The monster's three long necks instantly stiffened, aligning its three heads in a straight line.
Boom—
Frieren's [basic attacks] fired a straight beam of light.
Three points, one line!
The monster collapsed instantly.
The battle ended in the blink of an eye.
The smooth coordination left the blond young master, still hovering in the air, completely stunned.
"That was amazing! So this is what team adventuring feels like!"
"I love this feeling! Let's form a permanent party together!!"
The dust-covered young master started spouting nonsense the mont he landed. Shane wondered if he even realized he had just been used as bait.
But judging by his excitent, even if he knew, he'd probably be even more thrilled. Could he be a ma**chist?
"Young master, so you are here."
At that mont, the refined old butler who had been following Burg earlier arrived in front of them with a carriage.
The mont Burg saw the butler, he imdiately tried to hide.
Shane looked at the suddenly deflated young master in confusion, faintly sensing so juicy gossip.
"Young master, please return with us. The Duke has already learned of your attempt to form a party and explore the dungeon. He has sent a letter reprimanding you for it. The Duke has ordered that your enrollnt in the magic academy, originally scheduled for a month later, be moved up to three days from now. Until then, you are confined."
After the butler finished speaking, two beautiful, well-endowed maids stepped down from the carriage. One on each side, they grabbed Burg.
Burg struggled and shouted.
"I don't want to go to magic academy! I don't want school! I don't want to study…"
Unfortunately, no matter how much he wailed, the two maids didn't loosen their grip. Like lifting a chick, they carried him straight into the carriage.
Watching all this unfold, Shane couldn't help but sigh in admiration: he had thought the maids just had impressive chests, but now it seed their arm strength was impressive too.
Even with the carriage doors closed, the violent shaking inside was enough to make anyone stare in surprise.
"Is school really that scary?"
