Xu Chunliang finally chose to insert the needle at the Changqiang point.
Changqiang Point: The endless circulation denotes "Chang," and "Qiang" implies robust motion. This point is located at the end of the spine, marking the starting point of the Governor Vessel. The needle insertion point is chosen half a cun below the apex of the coccyx, between the coccyx apex and the perineum. The needle is inserted three fen deep into the apex of the coccyx until pain is felt, though so choose to insert two cun deep. Clinically, it has been shown that this point can be shallowly punctured at the coccyx apex or deeply punctured along the coccyx base, with different techniques yielding different effects.

The combined use of these herbs has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, invigorating blood and stopping bleeding, softening and contracting sores, reducing swelling, and relieving pain.
If bleeding is severe, add 24g of Pagoda tree pod, 30g of Sanguisorba; for severe redness and pain, add 10g of Scutellaria, 10g of Coptis, 15g of Phellodendron; for difficulty urinating, add 15g of Hoelen, 6g of Akebia stem, 15g of Plantain; for constipation with deficiency, add 30g of Cannabis seed, 15g of Rehmannia, 10g of Apricot kernel, 5g of Bush cherry seed; for constipation with excess, add 15g of Rhubarb, 9g of Immature bitter orange; for prolapse of hemorrhoidal nodules due to qi deficiency, add 30g of Astragalus, 15g of Codonopsis, 15g of Cimicifuga, 15g of Bupleurum; for blood deficiency, add 15g of Prepared Rehmannia, 12g of Angelica, 12g of White peony, 10g of Donkey-hide gelatin.
According to traditional Chinese dicine, the main cause of internal hemorrhoids is primarily a deficiency in the organs. Under various precipitating factors, such as excessive emotions, irregular eating, constipation, dysentery, prolonged sitting, and heavy exertion, the imbalance of yin and yang in the organs, insufficient qi and blood, internal generation of damp-heat, descending to the large intestine, poor blood circulation, and disintegration of the sinews occurs, resulting in hemorrhoids.
Taking the internal hemorrhoid decoction to clear heat, detoxify, invigorate blood and stop bleeding, soften and contract, and reduce swelling and relieve pain is intended to reduce the enlargent and stasis of hemorrhoidal veins, facilitating the shrinkage and healing of the hemorrhoids.
