"This old man. He is the king, isn't he?" Sanguina asked, her voice steady but curious.
The man nodded. "I believe so. I am not too familiar with the ways of this world anymore. I co from a different place, ant to ensure the Dragoon remains sealed. That ans I cannot lead you to anyone. I hope you understand."
"What do you an?" Sanguina demanded, her eyes narrowing as she reached out to grab his shoulder. But her hand passed through his form as he turned to mist.
"I believe you might have the strength to handle him, but I must follow the proper order. You are not allowed to leave until you pass the trials like everyone else," he replied, his voice echoing around her.
Suddenly, a gust of mist swirled around Sanguina, enveloping her in a cold, damp embrace. She spun around, trying to catch her bearings as the mist thickened, obscuring her vision. The tallic scent of magic and the chill of the mist made her shiver.
As the spinning stopped, she found herself in a dimly lit room with cold, tal floors. In front of her lay a chest filled with gold and various trinkets, the glint of the treasures reflecting the faint light.
"A damn vault?" she muttered, her voice echoing off the tal walls. She looked around, taking in the cold, sterile environnt, and the odd juxtaposition of the wealth before her.
"Damn him, where the hell did you go?!" Sanguina shouted, her voice echoing in the cold, tallic chamber. Angered and enraged, she clapped her hands together, causing chains to shoot from the ground, attempting to bind her.
Before the chains could ensnare her, she leaped back and grabbed them as they passed in front of her, snapping them instantly. A man in a black jacket appeared behind her, slicing downward at her back. She hit the ground, recoiling in pain, before quickly creating distance and breaking into a low prowler stance.
Her eyes glowed bright red as the severe gash on her back slowly healed. "Damn you! Who the hell are you now? I will rip you to pieces if you don't answer ."
Suddenly, her vision started to blur. The man smirked, his voice dripping with condescension. "You might be the daughter of the great and powerful Dracula, but you aren't as strong as him. That's info you really shouldn't be telling re mortals or other deities. It makes it so much easier to counter you when you aren't going all out, ya know?"
Who the hell are you anyways as she felt herself having trouble breathing closing her eyes."
Wiping the blood off his blade, Ren smirked. "Well, I am the captain's assistant, Shinigami Ren Kurobane, or you can just call the Shadow Blade."
Sanguina, with sweat dripping down her face, glared at him. "And just what the hell are Shinigamis doing outside of their own universe? Don't you have souls to be guarding in your own place?"
Ren took off his top hat, running a hand through his dark brown hair, his eyes gleaming with a mix of amusent and disdain. "Things have gotten a bit complicated. We've partnered with the Angelic Race to bring proper order to the universes, so we are dispatched to guard souls that are locked away or can't be destroyed yet. "
"Usually, I work elsewhere, but he summoned to test you and see how well you do. "
"To be honest, I think he's just upset about that cheap shot you got in on him and wants to put you down. You've barged in here barking like you're so top dog when you're nothing more than the spoiled brat of the Vampire King."
Sanguina's eyes narrowed, her breathing heavy, each inhale sharp with anger as she watched him speak. "The Demon King is probably playing a part in this, but it's none of our concern. Though when soone manages to summon and open the cave or any entrance to a locked soul, it becos our business to handle as we see fit."
"And it shouldn't be your business to ddle with the affairs of others!" Ren snapped.
In an instant, Ren closed the distance, a wicked smile spreading across his face. "I will make sure to drop your head off to your father and watch as there is nothing he can do!"
He raised his sword high above his chest, the blade gleaming ominously in the dim light, and brought it down with swift force. Sanguina's eyes widened as she felt the sting of the blade, and blood sprayed, painting the air red. In that split second, Ren's arm severed from his body, and she caught his forearm, gripping the blade tightly.
"Wh-what the hell is going on?!" Ren stamred, jumping back as blood stread from his wounded arm. "I laced my blade with holy water; you should be paralyzed, not fighting back!"
Sanguina's back wound closed, her flesh knitting together rapidly. She held up the severed arm, her eyes glowing with fierce determination. "Maybe if I was so young vampire or sothing pathetic, but my father's immunities run through . I have spent hundreds of years building resistance!"
The tallic tang of blood mixed with the cold air, creating a sharp contrast with the heat of battle. Ren's eyes widened in disbelief, a flicker of fear crossing his face as he realized the depth of her power.
Steadying himself as he stood upright, Ren smirked. "You are indeed impressive. It makes sense why he called for backup and wanted to ensure you were properly tested. He has his hands full dealing with the other bunch that just escaped."
He chuckled before continuing, "He should be able to kill the rest of them in due ti. But it will take much more than severing my arm to deal the finishing blow to a Shinigami."
Tapping his shoulder, Ren's arm regenerated in a flash. He slamd his open hand onto the tal ground, and all the gold behind Sanguina shot forward as if having a life of its own, forming sharp, deadly projectiles aid straight at her.
Your journey continues on empire
"Co, let's continue to dance a little longer, dear Vampire!" Ren taunted, his eyes gleaming with renewed determination.
