Rosana's claws flexed as she crouched, preparing to spring into action. "We need to flush them out. Give them sothing to focus on while the rest of us flank."

"I'll go," Kern volunteered, his voice eager, almost too eager. "Let them try to hit ."

Ty shook his head, not ready to let Kern take the brunt of the attack just yet. "No. They're skilled; you can tell by how they're keeping their distance. This isn't so reckless charge. They're watching, waiting for us to make the first move."

Rosana nodded, her eyes narrowing as she surveyed the treeline. "They've got archers, maybe more hiding in the trees. We need to force them into the open."

Gisorn had already taken position on a nearby ridge, rifle trained on the nearest movent. "Three distinct spots. Two archers and a swordsman. They're not amateurs."

Ty glanced toward the fire traps they'd set earlier. "We'll lure them into the traps. John, can you get a read on them?"

John, crouching behind a tree, closed his eyes for a mont, his brow furrowing. "Five of them. They're coordinated—definitely not random attackers. They've got us outnumbered, but… they're not rushing in. They're looking for weaknesses."

Kern grinned, already itching for a fight. "I'll be the weakness they're looking for. Let's flush them out." He didn't wait for Ty's approval before stepping forward, his scimitars flashing as he purposely exposed himself in the clearing.

As a gust of purple wind scattered around both blades, Kern slamd his scimitars forward, letting the montum swing him in a 360-degree spin. The gusts of his attack jetted out, slicing through the trees with alarming precision. A thin man with blue-tinted glasses appeared from behind the shattered branches, his hand outstretched toward Kern.

"Kern, watch out!" Ty yelled, his instincts kicking in. "They're counterattacking now!"

Kern, already in motion, scoffed. "Your pathetic hand can't do anything to !" Without hesitation, he drove his blade forward, aiming to pierce through the hand of the man in blue glasses. But the blade stopped short, as if hitting an invisible barrier.

"500," the man muttered, and suddenly, Kern's blade fell to the ground. Before he could react, a short dagger slipped from under the attacker's purple cloak, and he darted it forward toward Kern's neck, aiming to kill with a single strike.

Rosana leaped into action, her claw gauntlet eting the dagger mid-air with a shower of sparks. She growled, teeth bared as she shoved the man back with a fierce snarl. Kern spun around, delivering a swift kick to the chest of the blue-glassed man before spinning back to regroup.

Both combatants skidded to a halt, their feet digging into the ground, but not before a thin trail of blood dripped down Kern's neck.

Kern wiped the blood away, anger flashing in his eyes. "Who the hell are you five?" he demanded, voice low and dangerous.

The man with blue glasses adjusted them coolly, a smirk forming on his thin lips. "Volunteers, just like you," he said, his voice soft but filled with arrogance. "We aim for the ultimate wish. We hail from the strongest continent."

Kern narrowed his eyes. "Volunteers, huh?" He spat on the ground. "And why are you here?"

One of the figures—a tall woman with long red hair and armor laced with glowing veins of silver—stepped forward, her eyes cold and calculating. "Simple. Our mission is to kill you." Her words were blunt, dripping with venom. "You're also a volunteer, Kern. Quit this ga now, and you live. Walk away, and we'll move on to our next target.

But if you refuse…"

Kern clenched his fists, blood trickling between his fingers from his earlier wound. "Like hell I'm walking away," he growled, his voice thick with fury. "I have my own reason for being here. If you think I'll back down now, you don't know ."

The red-haired woman shrugged, unbothered by his defiance. "So be it. Your death will co soon enough." Discover more stories at My Virtual Library Empire

The other four attackers stepped forward, each one distinct, each one carrying themselves with deadly purpose. Ty watched them closely, his mind racing as he assessed their skills. There was sothing different about this group—sothing far more dangerous than the usual opponents they'd faced.

The man with the blue glasses waved his hand lazily, his confidence radiating from every movent. "We've wasted enough ti. You want to fight? Fine. But you won't last long."

Before Ty could respond, the entire group of five attackers surged forward as one, sprinting with a deadly grace that sent chills down his spine. As they closed the gap, the leader with the blue glasses smirked, his voice dripping with arrogance. "We've studied you long enough to know all your weaknesses. I, the Master Technician, have devised a plan to defeat you all."

Ty's heart pounded in his chest as the enemy group moved with precision, each targeting one of his teammates. Their movents were sharp, coordinated, as though every step had been rehearsed, every counter planned.

The ground beneath Ty trembled as the bulky man with tribal markings ca barreling toward him. His muscles flexed, the tattoos on his skin glowing brighter as he slamd his fists into the earth. Cracks spiderwebbed through the ground, creating obstacles, making it difficult for Ty to move freely.

Ty gritted his teeth, flas flickering around his hands as he leapt back, trying to gain so distance. But the man was relentless, closing in with a speed that didn't match his size.

"You're strong, but not strong enough," the man growled, swinging his massive fist toward Ty's head.

Ty ducked just in ti, the force of the punch sending a gust of wind past his face. He could feel the raw power behind each strike, the weight of the man's attacks vibrating in the air.

"Stalling ?" Ty muttered under his breath, sensing sothing off. The man's movents were heavy, deliberate. This wasn't just brute force—there was calculation behind each attack.

The man grinned, his eyes flickering with amusent. "You're catching on. I'm not here to kill you, not yet. My job's to keep you busy."
