Blue's heart raced as she hovered near the shadows, watching the blade pressed against JJ's neck. Okay, okay, think... She'd never been in a situation like this before, never had to fight soone with a weapon. Her mind was racing faster than her wings. I can't just sit here! I have to do sothing!

She glanced around the crypt, searching for any advantage, any distraction she could create. But there was nothing—just cold stone walls and the flicker of faint runes. What am I supposed to do? Continue reading on My Virtual Library Empire

The guard sneered, tightening his grip on the knife. "You better start talking," he growled. "The boss isn't gonna be happy if we have to drag answers out of you."

JJ stayed calm, her eyes flicking toward Blue's position, but she didn't make a sound. She was waiting, trusting Blue to do sothing. But what? Blue felt panic rise in her chest. I've never fought anyone before! How am I supposed to save her?

Her hands trembled as she flew closer, her mind racing. I could... I don't know, fly at him? Maybe knock the knife out of his hand? She gulped. What if I miss?

What if I make things worse?

But she had no other choice.

Summoning all the courage she could, Blue darted forward, aiming straight for the guard's hand. She hit him with all the force her tiny body could muster, but it wasn't enough. The impact barely made him flinch.

He laughed, batting her away like an annoying bug. "Stupid fly," he muttered, swiping at her with his free hand.

Blue was sent crashing into the stone wall with a sickening thud. Pain exploded through her tiny form, and she fell to the ground, her wings limp, her vision blurring. That... didn't work.

"Blue!" JJ scread, her voice breaking with fear.

The guard stomped toward Blue, his expression one of mild annoyance. He raised his foot, aiming to crush her under his boot. "Should've stayed out of it," he sneered, lifting his leg.

Blue's vision swam as she struggled to move, her body refusing to obey. No... I can't...

JJ's scream pierced the air as the guard's boot ca down. "NO!"

For a mont, everything went silent. Then, from sowhere deep inside Blue, sothing stirred. A bright blue light suddenly surged around her, enveloping her in a swirling aura of water. The pain vanished, replaced by a cold, calming power.

The guard's eyes widened in fear. "What the—" he didn't finish the sentence. Blue floated up, her expression distant, as though she wasn't fully there. Her hand stretched out toward him, fingers curled as if grasping sothing invisible. The air around them crackled.

The ground shook beneath him. He stumbled back, but the threads of water slashed out like claws, wrapping around his legs and yanking him forward. The man scread, clawing at the floor, but Blue didn't flinch. The water constricted, tightening around his body, lifting him into the air.

His comrade charged forward, flas igniting in his palms, but as he swung them toward Blue, the flas fizzled out before they could even reach her. His eyes darted toward her, panic filling them as he rushed at her with everything he had. A blade appeared in his hand, glowing with energy, but Blue's gaze never left the first guard.

A flick of her wrist, and the water surged, tearing the man's arm from his body. Blood sprayed across the crypt walls as the guard dropped to the ground, writhing in agony. Blue's eyes remained cold, distant, as though none of it registered. The air around her humd with power.

The second guard threw the blade. It cut through the air with speed, aid right at Blue's heart, but the mont it neared her, it dissolved into nothing. The guard faltered, his body shaking. He barely had ti to register his fear before Blue's aura shifted again.

Tendrils of water erupted from the ground, lashing out and wrapping around the second man's throat. His hands clawed at the invisible force, gasping for air, but it was useless. Blue's fingers twitched, and his neck snapped with a sickening crack.

JJ backed up against the wall, her breath shallow. Her hand instinctively reached for Ty's blackened skeleton, gripping the cold, lifeless bones as her eyes widened in horror. "Blue..." she whispered, but the words died in her throat.

The remaining guard struggled to crawl away, blood pouring from his wounds. His terrified eyes locked onto Blue, begging for rcy. But none ca. The water twisted around him, dragging him back toward her. He whimpered, trying to summon his skill—anything to fight back—but the power slipped from his grasp as though it were never there.

Blue's aura flared, her eyes glowing with an eerie, otherworldly light. The water lifted the guard higher, his body twitching as the tendrils coiled tighter, crushing his bones one by one.

His final scream echoed through the crypt before his body was ripped apart, torn asunder by the force of the water. Blood sprayed across the stones, the pieces of his body scattering across the ground like broken toys.

JJ pressed herself tighter against the wall, her heart pounding in her chest. Her eyes were wide, her grip on Ty's skeleton tightening as the last remnants of the guards fell lifeless at Blue's feet. The silence that followed felt thick, suffocating, and she dared not move, her breath shallow and quick.

Blue hovered above the bodies for a brief mont, her wings barely keeping her afloat as she locked eyes with JJ. A faint smile tugged at the corners of Blue's lips, one of relief, maybe even joy. Then, without warning, Blue collapsed, falling like a broken doll to the ground.

JJ's heart leapt. She rushed forward, her knees hitting the stone floor as she reached out to Blue's small, limp form. The tiny fairy lay there, her chest rising and falling softly, her body completely still save for the rhythmic snoring that escaped her lips. It was almost comical—peaceful even, but JJ couldn't shake the knot of anxiety twisting in her stomach.

JJ's relief was short-lived as a sharp, burning pain tore through her shoulder. She winced, her hand instinctively flying to the source. The skin was slick and warm, her fingers coming away covered in dark crimson. Her breath hitched, panic threatening to overtake her as she peeled back her cloak, revealing a deep gash that ran from her collarbone down toward her shoulder blade.

The blood was already soaking through her clothes, the wound jagged and angry.
