Jade watched the nurse cry beside Ty's face and knew, imdiately, that the tears were real.

Honest tears gave bad claims a place to hide.

Planted witnesses broke when pressed. Grieving witnesses bent. They rembered one true thing and let soone else build a lie around it because the lie gave the mory sowhere to stand.

The nurse on the rcy General feed looked older than the woman in the basent footage, but grief had a way of aging people in both directions. Her hair had gone silver at the temples. Her hospital badge swung from a blue lanyard.

Jade watched the line go live.

Protection had to be visible too. Otherwise the public only saw a scared old nurse and a room full of officials feeding her to a monster with a familiar face.
