From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius Chapter 144: Repairing White
A faint smile touched Chloe Sinclair’s lips, and she completely ignored Eight’s shock.
PID control is a thod that continuously calculates an error value—the difference between a desired setpoint and a asured variable—and uses it to apply corrections based on proportional, integral, and derivative actions.
Robot control algorithms would beco quite sophisticated in ten years, but there was still a long way to go in improving PID control.
What Chloe Sinclair intended to do was develop the robot control algorithm first, and then use the trajectory from a Bode plot to conduct her research.
"This robot control algorithm is nearly impossible to implent with current technology! Zenthia’s L298N driver is completely incapable of completing this experint!"
"But what if I replace the L298N driver with an L378 driver?" Chloe Sinclair asked softly.
The L378 was a robot driver she would develop ten years in the future.
Repairing White involved four steps. To use a human analogy, it needed a brain, a torso, limbs, and internal organs.
The "internal organs," in this case, were the robot’s drive unit.
The only problem was that the L298N driver was not yet capable of achieving autonomous evolution.
"Do you know why the highest-level driver available today is still the L298N?"
As she spoke, Chloe Sinclair used a pair of tweezers to pick up a black plastic fragnt from a test board. "It’s because they’re using closed-loop control for the 3508 motor," she continued, "without considering the system that the 3508 motor is driving."
This failure to find the key breakthrough was precisely why driver technology had stagnated.
"Of course, an L378 driver alone isn’t enough. But if the closed-loop control of the 3508 motor is perfected, Zenthia could gain at least a five-year lead on the rest of the world."
Chloe Sinclair’s tone was perfectly calm, but in the system, Eight was rendered speechless.
It stared blankly as Chloe Sinclair ticulously examined the chip in her hand, then fell silent and retreated into the background.
Eight’s silence suited Chloe Sinclair just fine.
Soon, she was deeply imrsed in her high-intensity research.
The PID control part wasn’t difficult for her. She just needed a grayscale sensor for line tracking and a digital compass for orientation to successfully calibrate it.
However, implenting the PID control alone took Chloe Sinclair a full seven or eight days.
During this period, Landon Sinclair would occasionally stop by to see how she was doing.
Staff from the research institute also took turns bringing her als.
After seven days, Chloe Sinclair stepped out of the lab for the first ti and happened to run into Landon Sinclair, who was bringing her a al.
Landon Sinclair was surprised to see her and asked, "Is White fixed?"
Chloe Sinclair shook her head. "No. I want to find so books on programming to look over."
Landon paused for a mont, then his expression cleared. "Eat first. I’ll have them sent to your lab in a bit."
"Thanks, Brother."
Landon Sinclair didn’t press for details, and Chloe Sinclair didn’t offer any.
The two of them walked side by side to the institute’s cafeteria.
The cafeteria wasn’t very large, with room for only about two hundred people.
Even so, during altis, it was only ever sparsely occupied by a few dozen people.
Chloe Sinclair chose a relatively secluded table.
A mont later, Landon Sinclair brought over their food.
"Is there anything about the experint you’re having trouble with?"
Chloe Sinclair shook her head, speaking candidly to her brother. "Everything’s going smoothly so far, but I plan to rebuild White’s neural network."
Landon Sinclair froze, a flash of surprise in his eyes.
He finally understood why she had asked for programming books.
His interest was imdiately piqued. "Rebuilding a neural network is no easy task. If you don’t mind, I can help."
Naturally, Chloe was willing.
Landon Sinclair’s talent far surpassed her own.
Her ability to research such advanced technology was only because of her knowledge from ten years in the future.
But Landon Sinclair was different.
Even in this tiline, his future technological contributions would be enough to give Zenthia a ten-year lead over the rest of the world.
At the sa ti, however, a worry surfaced in Chloe’s mind.
She didn’t know if her actions would provoke the system to suppress her.
After all, the knowledge contained within the God of Study System was far more advanced than just a re decade’s worth.
But after waiting for a long mont, the system still gave no response.
Chloe imdiately understood that the system had no intention of interfering.
’Does this an I can share the knowledge from the system with others?’
Chloe was ecstatic.
But she quickly composed herself.
The knowledge within the God of Study System surpassed anything in the entire world. So concepts had never even been conceived of before. Truly disseminating all this knowledge would be impossible in a short amount of ti.
After a mont of silence, Chloe asked directly, "Brother, have you ever heard of a robotic autonomous evolution system?"
Landon Sinclair was stunned for a mont before shaking his head.
Chloe wasn’t surprised. "It’s a theory I’ve proposed," she explained. "Broadly speaking, it’s about enabling a robot to access data and learn by itself."
The neural network acts as a subset, and the system within the robot will function like a human brain.
To put it simply, the question is: can future robots have emotions?
Landon Sinclair stared blankly for a long ti before he finally understood her aning. His eyes filled with utter shock.
He subconsciously glanced around them, then lowered his voice. "Finish your food. We’ll talk in my office."
The two of them finished their al as quickly as possible and headed back to Landon Sinclair’s office.
Landon Sinclair’s office was spacious and sparsely furnished, containing only a desk, a sofa, and a coffee table.
Landon sat down and asked impatiently, "Chloe, what exactly did you an earlier?"
’A robotic autonomous planning system?’
The concept was unprecedented, let alone the chances of a successful experint.
Chloe said, "It’s just as you’re thinking, Brother. The primary stage I want to achieve is to enable a robot to synthesize information, identify, and calibrate. By analogy, you could compare it to four dinsions: Action, Thought, Social Interaction, and Communication."
"I’ve run calculations using Preston’s equation and Hertzian theory. The results match those in the paper, proving that while the force-and-pose solution is uncontrolled, it’s possible to propose a position and posture generation algorithm for a robotic optical polishing tool."
In the office, ti ticked by, second by second.
After she finished speaking, Chloe sat quietly in her chair, hands resting on her lap, awaiting Landon’s reply.
And at that mont, Landon Sinclair, a man known far and wide as a Genius, was utterly dumbfounded.
But as the initial shock subsided, it was replaced by a profound sense of admiration for his younger sister.
In that instant, it was a mont of sudden enlightennt for him.
He had always prided himself on his intelligence, but this conversation with Chloe made him realize just how narrow his perspective truly was.
"Chloe... can I join you in this experint?"
A thrill of excitent coursed through Landon Sinclair.
What he didn’t know was that the decision he made today would change the course of his entire life.
